CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time applications. It is an on-vehicle mul-
tiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Modern
vehicle is equipped with many electronic control unit, and each control unit shares information and links with
other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected
with 2 communication lines (CAN-H line, CAN-L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less
wiring. Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only.

With CONSULT-III
Check “CDL LOCK SW ”and “CDL UNLOCK SW” in “Data Monitor” mode with CONSULT-III.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> Door lock and unlock switch is OK.
NO >> Refer to DLK-495, "

1.CHECK DOOR LOCK AND UNLOCK INPUT SIGNAL
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect door lock and unlock switch connector.
3. Using an oscilloscope, check voltage between door lock and
unlock switch harness connector (A) D7 terminal 6, connector
(B) D8 terminal 18 and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 3.
NO >> GO TO 2.

2.CHECK DOOR LOCK AND UNLOCK SWITCH CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect BCM connector.
3. Check continuity between BCM connector (A) M18 terminals 6,
25 and door lock and unlock switch connector (B) D7 terminal 6,
connector (C) D8 terminal 18.
4. Check continuity between BCM connector (A) M18 terminals 6, 25 and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 4.
NO >> Repair or replace harness.
3.CHECK DOOR LOCK AND UNLOCK SWITCH GROUND
Check continuity between main power window and door lock/unlock
switch connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 5.
NO >> Repair or replace harness.
4.CHECK BCM OUTPUT SIGNAL
