WARNING:
Be sure to read “General Precautions” when working on fuel system. Refer to FL-14, "
General Precau-
tions" .
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Open the fuel filler cap and release the pressure inside the fuel
tank.
3. Remove rear seat bottom.
4. Peel off floor carpet, then remove inspection hole cover.
5. Disconnect the harness connector, fuel feed tube and fuel return
tube.
6. Drain fuel from fuel tank if necessary. For the draining proce-
dure, refer to step 4 in removal of FL-17, "
FUEL LEVEL SEN-
SOR UNIT" .
CAUTION:
For the safety work and to maintain fuel tank gravity at center, drain fuel to the level where fuel
tank weight at left and right becomes equal.
7. Disconnect the quick connector.
●Put mating marks on hoses for correct installation.
8. Remove exhaust center tube and insulator. Refer to EX-2, "
EXHAUST SYSTEM" .
9. Remove propeller shaft, Refer to PR-2, "

15. Remove fuel tank.
INSTALLATION
●Install in the reverse order of removal paying attention to the following.
●Surely clamp fuel hoses and insert hose to the length below.
●Be sure hose clamp is not positioned on swelled area of fuel tube.
●Tighten fuel hose clamp so that the distance between its lugs becomes to the following.
●Push the mounting band pin to the vehicle side securely.
●Before fixing the fuel tank, temporarily install the fuel filler tube.
CAUTION:
Use genuine fuel filler tube mounting bolts or equivalent. Make sure to tighten them to the speci-
fied torque.
●To connect the quick connector. Refer to FL-17, "FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT" .
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
Make sure there is no fuel leakage at connections in the following steps.

1. Apply fuel pressure to fuel lines with turning ignition switch “ON” (with engine stopped). Then check for
fuel leaks at connections.
2. Start the engine and rev it up and check for fuel leaks at connections.

Checking Exhaust SystemEBS00AZ6
Check exhaust pipes, muffler and mounting for improper attachment,
leaks, cracks, damage or deterioration.
Removal and InstallationEBS003DN
CAUTION:
●Be sure to use genuine exhaust system parts or equivalents which are specially designed for heat
resistance, corrosion resistance and shape.
●Perform the operation with the exhaust system fully cooled down because the system will be hot
just after the engine stops.
●Be careful not to cut your hand on the insulator edge.

REMOVAL
Separate each connection as necessity.
INSTALLATION
●Install in the reverse order of removal paying attention to the following.
CAUTION:
●Always replace exhaust gaskets with new ones when reassembling.
●If the insulator is badly deformed, repair or replace it. If deposits such as mud pile up on the
insulator, remove them.
●When installing the insulator avoid large gaps or interference between the insulator and each
exhaust pipe.
●Remove deposits from the sealing surface of each connection. Connect them securely to avoid
gas leakage.
●Temporarily tighten mounting nuts on the exhaust manifold side and mounting bolts on the
vehicle side. Check each part for unusual interference, and then tighten them to the specified
torque.
●When installing each mounting rubber, avoid twisting or unusual extension in up/down and
right/left directions.
●Install the seal bearings at front exhaust tube and main muffler as follows.
CAUTION:
Do not mix the bolt and spring for seal bearing as the dimension is different for each seal bearing.

Front Exhaust Side (QR20DE and QR25DE)
Insert the seal bearing in the direction shown in the figure.
CAUTION:
Tighten the mounting bolt without causing interference with the
flange.
Main Muffler Side (QR20DE, QR25DE and YD22DDTi)
1. Insert the seal bearing in the direction shown in the figure.
2. Tighten the mounting bolt with the big end of the spring facing
the flange.
CAUTION:
Tighten the mounting bolt without causing interference with
the flange.
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
●With the engine running, check exhaust tube joints for gas leakage and unusual noises.
●Check to ensure that mounting brackets and mounting insulators are installed properly and free from
undue stress. Improper installation could result in excessive noise and vibration.
