Symptom:
ORC, NOT CONFIGURED FOR SAB - ACTIVE
When Monitored and Set Condition:
ORC, NOT CONFIGURED FOR SAB - ACTIVE
When Monitored: With ignition on, the ORC monitors the PCI Bus for a message
containing an9A9in the 4 th position of the VIN. This character identifies the type of safety
equipment and should match the VIN. The PCM transmits the VIN every 13.76 seconds.
Set Condition: The code will set, if the ORC detects a Side Impact Airbag Module active
on the PCI Bus and the 4 th character of the VIN message is not an9A9.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
PCM, PCI COMMUNICATION FAILURE
CHECK PCM VIN
ORC, ORC NOT CONFIGURED FOR SIDE AIRBAGS
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the ignition on.

symptom.
Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
2 With the DRB read the Vehicle Identification Number in the Powertrain Control
Module.
Compare the VIN displayed on the DRB screen and the Vehicle VIN plate.
Does the VIN plate and the PCM VIN match? All
Ye s®Go To 3
No®Replace the Powertrain Control Module and program with the
correct vehicle identification number.
