Install and tighten the lower securing bolts to 18-24 Nm.
Tighten the upper securing bolts to 18-24 Nm.
16. Position the transmission cooler pipes and the clamping
bracket. Install the bolt to secu re the clamp and tighten to 7-9
Nm.
17. Connect the oil cooler pipes to the oil pan body assembly
(vehicles with engine oil cooler).
1. Remove the blanking plugs and install new O-ring seals.
2. Connect the oil cooler pipes.
3. Install the clamp and bolt which secures the oil cooler pipes. Tighten to 18-24 Nm.
18. Install the front cr ossmember. Refer to Operation 76.10.05.
19. Position the generator cooling duct to the oil pan body and
install the two bolts.
20. Install the undert ray. Refer to Operation 76.22.90.
21. Install both front wheel and tyre assemblies. Refer to
Operation 74.20.05.
22. Install the timing cover and al l associated components, as
detailed in Operation 12.65.01. Do not refill the cooling system
at this stage.

Install the supercharger driv e belt tensioner. Refer to
Operation 18.50.24.
24. Install the supercharger idle r pulley mounting bracket.
1. Position the mounting bracket to the timing cover.
2. Install the three bolts which secure the mounting bracket. Tighten to 8-10 Nm.
25. Install the supercharger drive belt idler pulley. Refer to
Operation 18.50.09. (34-46 Nm).
26. Install the supercharger driv e belt. Refer to Operation
18.50.08.
27. Install the coolant outlet pipe. Refer to Operation 26.31.08.
28. Install the twin fan and motor assembly. Refer to Operation
26.25.12.
29. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Operation 26.10.01 in
General Procedures section of the cooling system.
30. NOTE: When the engine is star ted from cold and run for a
short period only, before being swit ched off, a quantity of oil will
be 'hung up' within the engine because it is not up to operating
temperature.
Should the oil level subsequently be topped-up, the level could
become too high, causing oil burning.
Typically, 0.875 L is hung up.
Refill the engine with the correct specification engine oil.
31. Connect the battery and in stall the battery cover.
Refer to the Battery Reconnection Procedure 86.15.15.
32. Check the oil level and start th e engine. Check for leaks and
that the engine runs correctly.
33. Install the engine compartmen t cover. Refer to Operation
76.16.01.
34. Remove the paintwork protection sheets and close the engine
compartment cover.

Engine - Valve Cover LH
In-vehicle Repair
Removal
1. Open the engine compartment and fit paintwork protection
sheets.
2. Carefully remove the le ft hand engine cover, taking care not to
damage the plasti c fixings or the rubber inserts.
3. Remove the on-plug ignition coils from the 'B' bank. Refer to
Operation 18.20.42.
4. Remove the purge valve, from th e evaporative control system.
Refer to Operation 17.45.01.
5. Release the clips which secure the engine harness to the cam
cover.
6. Remove the cam cover assembly.
1. Release the fourteen sc rews which secure the cam
cover. The screws stay in place, held by the seals.
2. Remove the cam cover, screws and seals, as an
assembly.
Remove the oil filler cap.
7. Separate the screws and se als from the cam cover.
1. One at a time, remove ea ch securing screw from the
cam cover.
2. Remove the rubber sealin g ring from each securing
screw.
8. Remove the main seals from the cam cover.
1. Remove and discard the outer seal.
2. Remove and discard the two seals from around the spark plug apertures.

Installation
9. Clean all relevant parts and mating faces.
1. Fit new seals to the cam cover.
1. Fit the new outer seal.
2. Fit the two new spark plug aperture seals.
2. Fit the securing screws to the cam covers.
1. Fit a new sealing ring to each screw assembly.
2. Fit the screws to the cam covers. Each screw is retained by the cam cover gasket.
3. Apply RTV sealant WSS-M4G320-A3 to two places on the joint
between the front of the cam cover and the cylinder head.
The application of sealant must be 3mm diameter by
12mm long. Fit the cam cover immediately after applying
the sealant.
The cover should be fitted di rectly to the head without
smearing the sealant or the seals.
4. Refit the cam cover.
Position the cam cover onto the cylinder head without
smearing the sealant and start the threads of each

securing screw.
5. Tighten the securing screws to 9 - 11 Nm. Tighten in the
sequence indicated.
6. Fit the oil filler cap.
7. Reposition the clips which secure the engine harness to the
cam cover.
8. Refit the on-plug ignition coils and the coil cover. Refer to
Operation 18.20.42.
9. Refit the purge valve. Refer to Operation 17.45.01.
10. Reconnect the air flow meter multi-plug.
11. Refit the left hand engine cover.
12. Remove the paintwork protection sheets and close the engine
compartment.

Removal
1. Open the engine compartment and fit paintwork protection
sheets.
2. Disconnect the intake tube from the throttle body.
1. Remove the two bolts which secure the intake tube to the throttle body.
2. Disconnect the intake tube from the throttle body.
3. Disconnect the air cleaner cover.
Release the five clips which se cure the air cleaner cover.
4. Disconnect the air fl ow meter multi-plug.
5. Remove the intake tube / air flow meter / air cleaner cover
assembly.
1. Remove the intake tube / air flow meter / air cleaner
cover assembly.
2. Remove and discard the ru bber seal; air intake tube
to throttle body.
6. Carefully remove the right hand engine cover, taking care not
to damage the plastic fixi ngs or the rubber inserts.
7. Remove the on-plug ignition coils from the 'A' bank. Refer to
Operation 18.20.41.
8. Release the clips which secure the engine harness to the cam
cover.
