Multiplex Contro l Uni t (Driver's) :
1 . Remov e th e under-das h fuse/rela y bo x (se e pag e 23-66 ).
2 . Remov e th e driver' s uni t fro m th e under-das h fuse/rela y box .
3 . Inspec t th e connecto r an d socke t terminal s t o b e sur e the y ar e al l makin g goo d contact .
• I f th e terminal s ar e bent , loos e o r corroded , repai r the m a s necessary , an d rechec k th e system .
• I f th e terminal s loo k OK , mak e th e followin g inpu t test s a t th e connecto r an d th e fuse/rela y bo x socket .
— If an y tes t indicate s a problem , fin d an d correc t th e cause , the n rechec k th e system .
— If al l th e inpu t test s prov e OK , th e contro l uni t mus t b e faulty ; replac e it .

Self-diagnosi s Functio n (Mod e 1 )
• 1 secon d afte r yo u g o int o self-diagnosi s functio n mod e 1 , th e functio n start s t o indicat e th e diagnosi s troubl e cod e
(DTC) , an d repeat s th e DT C ever y 3 seconds .
• Fro m mod e 1 , disconnec t th e SC S servic e connecto r fo r 5 to 1 0 seconds , the n reconnec t th e SC S servic e connector ,
an d th e functio n goe s fro m mod e 1 to mod e 2 .
Norma l condition s (Ignitio nswitch OFF )
Connec t th e SC S servic e connec -tor t o th e multiple x contro l inspec -tion connecto r fo r mor e tha n 5seconds .

Communication Line Test

1. Continuity Test

Check for continuity according to the table.

• If there is continuity, go to step 2.

• If there is no continuity, check for an open in the wire.

2. Voltage Test

A. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

B. Check for voltage between communication line and ground:

The voltage should match the following table.

• If the voltage is too high:

A. Check for short to another wire.

B. Check for poor contact at the connector on the receiver side unit.

C. Faulty circuit in the receiver side unit.

• If the voltage is too low:

A. Check for short to ground or to another wire.

B. Check for poor contact at the connector on the transmit side unit.

C. Faulty circuit in the transmitter side unit.

* If any control units appears to be faulty, select one control unit, substitute a known-good control unit, then recheck. If the

system works properly, the original control unit is faulty; replace it. If there is still a malfunction, a substitute the known-

good control unit for another control unit, then recheck. If the system works properly, that control unit is faulty; replace

Wake-up Function Test

Description:

• When the ignition switch is turned ON (II), all of the multiplex control units wake up at the same time. In this case, the

wake up lines and communication lines are not involved in the wake up function.

• When a switch related to the multiplex control unit (door) is operated:

First, the door multiplex control unit wakes up, then the control unit starts to communicate to the driver's control unit.

By this communication, the driver's control unit wakes up. The driver's control unit wakes the passenger's control unit

up by the wake up line, and all the control units start to function.

• When a switch related to the multiplex control unit (driver's or passenger's) is operated:

The control unit related to the operated switch wakes up, then the control unit wakes up the other unit. (In this case, the

door control unit does not wake up.)ProCarManuals.com
