Heated oxygen sensor failed from that which precedes the converter. That is because the catalytic converter l
Engine control purifies exhaust gas. When the catalytic converter has deteriorated, the signal from theheated oxygen sensor which follows the catalytic co nverter becomes similar to that whichprecedes the catalytic converter.
l The engine control module checks the output of the heated oxygen sensor signals.
Check Area
lEngine speed is not less than 2600 Engine or 2500 lVolume air flow sensor output frequency is between 36 and 262 Hz or 50 and
300 Hz Engine (Turbo)>
l Volume air flow sensor output frequency is between 50 and 240 Hz.
l Intake air temperature is or higher
l Barometric pressure is 76 (11 psi.) or higher.
l Closed throffle position switch: OFF
l Under the closed loop air-fuel ratio control.
l Monitoring Time: 140

purge solenoid is driven while the outside air of the canister is shut off (becauseof a blockage in the purge line or because the fuel tank filler tube cap has not been
tightened correctly), the engine control module jud ges that there is a problem with the
system and the check engine/malfunction indicator l amp illuminates.
