(1) Compress the return spring with the special tool.
(2) Install the snap ring.
CLUTCH REACTION PLATE’:
(1) Install the clutch reaction plate with‘ missing tooth
portions (A in the illustration) in alignment.
NOTE
This design is to facilitate escape of automatic tr ansmis-
sion fluid and improve the cooling efficiency of th e plate
and disc.

(2) Install the innermost the reaction plate with t heir shear
droops directed as shown in the illustration.

SNAP RING SELECTION
(1) Check clearance between the snap ring and clutc h reac-
tion plate. To check the clearance, hold entire
circumfer-
ence of the clutch reaction plate down with (11
force. If clearance is out of standard value, sele ct
a snap ring to obtain the standard value.

END CLUTCH ,
Remove the piston. If it is hard to remove, place the retainer
on the workbench with piston side down and blow air through
the oil passage in the back of retainer.
REASSEMBLY SERVICE POINTS
SNAP RING INSTALLATION
Fit a new snap ring to the Guide of the special tool, and
install it to the retainer. Be sure to fit snap ring to the lowest
possible portion of the Guide.
Put the Installer over the Guide and use a press to install
the snap ring in the groove. If the snap ring is in stalled in
the groove, stop using the press. Do not use the pr ess more
than Further, be sure not to support the portion
(center protruded portion) marked with arrows in th e
illustration.
SNAP RING
Check clearance between the snap ring and clutch re action
plate. To check the clearance, hold entire circumfe rence of
the clutch reaction plate down with 50 (11 tbs.) force. If
clearance is out of standard value, select ring to obtain
the standard value.
Standard value: mm in.)
