1 . Remov e th e dashboar d lowe r cove r an d kne e bol -
ster . 2
. Remov e th e steerin g colum n covers .
3 . Remov e th e tw o screw s an d th e switch .
4 . Instal l i n th e revers e orde r o f removal .
NOTE : O n TC S cars , chec k th e positio n o f th e TC S
3 P connecto r harnes s (se e sectio n 17 ).

Troubleshooting

NOTE:

• The numbers in the table show the troubleshooting sequence.

• Before troubleshooting,

Check the No. 1 (10 A) and the No. 4 (15 A)*1 or (20 A)*2 fuses in the under-dash fuse/relay box, and the No. 31 (120 A),

No. 35 (50 A), and the No. 30 (20 A) fuses in the under-hood fuse/relay box.

Check that the horns sound.

Check the tachometer to see if it works properly.ProCarManuals.com

1. Disconnec t th e 4 P connecto r fro m th e actuator .
2 . Chec k fo r resistanc e betwee n th e terminal s accord -
in g t o th e table .
NOTE : Resistanc e wil l var y slightl y wit h tempera -
ture ; specifie d resistanc e is a t 70° F (20°C) .

1. Disconnec t th e actuato r cabl e fro m th e actuato r rod ,
an d disconnec t th e 4 P connector .
2 . Connec t batter y powe r t o th e No . 4 termina l an d
groun d to th e No . 1 , No . 2 , an d No . 3 terminals .
3 . Connec t a vacuu m pum p t o th e chec k valve . The n
appl y vacuu m to th e actuator .

filte r ar e no t plugged , th e solenoi d valv e assembl y
i s defective .
8 . I f yo u replac e th e solenoi d valv e assembly , b e sur e
t o us e ne w O-ring s o n eac h solenoid .

0.0 2 in ) awa y fro m th e bracket .
6. Pul l th e cabl e s o tha t th e adjustin g nu t touche s th e
bracket , an d tighte n th e locknut .
4 . I f th e fre e pla y i s no t withi n specs , mov e th e cabl e to
th e poin t wher e th e engin e spee d start s t o increase ,
an d tighte n th e locknu t an d adjustin g nut .
