SYMPTOM:
SPORT or SNOW indicator lamp does not come on when turn-
ing A/T mode switch to the appropriate position.
Is 1. O/D OFF, SPORT or A/T CHECK

Check the following items:
IA/T mode switch
Refer to AT-97.
I SNOW indicator lamp
I Harness continuity between ignition
switch and A/T mode switch
I Harness continuity between A/T mode
switch and TCMENG
Repair or replace dam-
aged parts.
3. O/D OFF Indicator Lamp Does Not Come On
SYMPTOM:
O/D OFF indicator lamp does not come on when setting over-
drive control switch to ªOFFº position.
Check the following items:
IOverdrive control switch
I O/D OFF indicator lamp
I Harness continuity between ignition
switch and O/D OFF indicator lampENG

4. SPORT Indicator Lamp Does Not Come On
SYMPTOM:
SPORT indicator lamp does not come on for about 3 seconds
when depressing and releasing accelerator pedal fully.
Does self-diagnosis show damage to
throttle (accelerator) position sensor cir-
cuit?

position sensor. Refer to

Check throttle (accelerator) position sen-
sor. Ð Refer to EC section [TROUBLE

(accelerator) position sen-
sor.
1. Perform TCM input/output signal
inspection.
2. If NG, recheck TCM pin terminals for damage or loose connection with har-
ness connector.

5. Engine Cannot Be Started In ªPº and ªNºPosition
SYMPTOM:
I Engine cannot be started with selector lever in ªPº or ªNº
position.
I Engine can be started with selector lever in ªDº, ª2º, ª1º
or ªRº position.
Does ªECU INPUT SIGNALSº in
Data Monitor show damage to park/
neutral position switch circuit?

SYMPTOM:
There is large shock when changing from ªNº to ªRº position.
Does self-diagnosis show damage to line
pressure solenoid valve or throttle (accel-
erator) position sensor, A/T fluid tempera-
ture sensor circuit?
No

Check damaged circuit.
Refer to AT-62, AT-78 or
AT-86.
Check throttle (accelerator) position sen-
sor. Refer to EC section [TROUBLE
DIAGNOSIS FOR ªTHROTTLE (ACCEL)
