luggage area and rear
seats should never be used as a play areaby children. In a collision, people ridingunrestrained in these areas are more likelyto be seriously in
jured or killed.
Do not allow people or children to ride inany area of your vehicle that is notequipped with seats and seat belts, andmake sure that everyone travelling in yourvehicle is in a seat a
nd wearing a seat belt,
or in the case of a
young child is strapped
in a child restraint.zTo m i n i m i z e t h e r i s k o f p e r s o n a l i n j u r y i nthe event of a collision or sudden braking,the seatbacks should always be in thealmost upright position while the vehicle isin motion. The protection provided by theseat belts may be reduced significantlywhen the seatback is reclined. There isgreater risk that the passenger will slideunder the seat belt, resulting in seriousinjury, when the seatback is reclined.CAUTIONzMake sure the seat is adjusted by an adult orwith adult supervisi

zThe reclining mechanism of the front seat’sseatback is spring loaded, causing it to returnto the vertical position when the lock lever isoperated. When using the lever, sit close tothe seatback or hold it

trol its return motion.zWhen sliding the seats, be careful not tocatch your hand or foot.zWhen sliding or reclining the seat rearward,pay careful attention to the rear seat passen-gers.zWhen adjusting the front seat while the rearseat is folded, be careful not to apply strongforce to the flipped rear seat cushion.Doing so could cause da
mage to the cover of
the front seat and the fitting of the rear seatcushion.CAUTION
Front seats Manual type 1- To adjust forward or backward
Lift the handle and adjust the seat tothe desired position, and release thehandle.
2- To recline the seatback
Pull the lever up and then lean back-ward to the desired position, andrelease the lever.
3- To adjust seat height (driver’s side
only)Repeatedly operate the lever and adjustthe seat height to the desired position.

The heated seats can be operated with theoperation mode of the power switch in ON.Operate the switch as indicated by arrows.The indication lamp (A) will illuminate whilethe heater is on.

1- To adjust forward or backward
Operate the switch as indicated by thearrows and adjust the seat to the desiredposition.
2- To recline the seatback
Operate the switch as indicated by thearrows and adjust the seatback angle tothe desired position.
3- To adjust seat height
Operate the switch as indicated by thearrows and adjust the seat height to thedesired position.If the entire switch is operated, then theentire seat moves.
Heated seats

1 (HI) - Heater high (for quick heating).2-Heater off.3 (LO) - Heater low (to keep the seat
warm).
CAUTIONzOperate in the “HI” position for quick heat-ing. Once the seat is warm, set the heaterswitch to the “LO” position to keep it warm.Slight variations in seat temperature may befelt while using the heated seats. This iscaused by the operation of the heater’s inter-nal thermostat and doe

other pointed objects

Doing so could damage not only theseat cover, but also the heater element.

Adjust the head restraint height so that thecentre of the head restraint is as close as pos-sible to ear level to reduce the chances ofinjury in the event of collision. Any persontoo tall for the head restraint to reach their
zIf water or any other liquid is spilled on theseat, allow it to dry thoroughly beforeattempting to use the heater. Turn the heateroff immediately if it appears to be malfunc-tioning during use.

reduce the risk of injury in an accident,always make sure the head restraints areinstalled and properl

the seat is occupied.
zNever place a cushion or similar device onthe seatback. This
can adversely affect
head restraint performance by increasingthe distance between your head and therestraint.zWhen a person sits in the rear seats, pullup the head restraint to a height at whichit locks in position. Be sure to make thisadjustment before starting to drive. Seri-ous injuries could otherwise be suffered inthe result of an impact.

After adjust-ment, push the head restraint downward andmake sure that it is locked.Lift the head restraint with the height adjust-ing knob (A) pushed in.
Confirm that the head restraint is facing thecorrect direction, and then insert it into theseatback while pressing the height adjustingknob (A) in the direction indicated by thearrow.The head restraint stalk with the adjustmentnotches (B) must be installed in the hole withthe adjusting knob (A).

CAUTIONzConfirm that the height adjusting knob (A) iscorrectly adjusted as shown in the illustra-tion, and also lift the head restraints toensure that they do not come out of the seat-back.
CAUTIONzThe shape and size of the head restraint dif-fers according to the seat. Always use thecorrect head restraint provided for the seatand do not install the head restraint in thewrong direction.

Store the seat belt for the rear centre seat-ing position.Refer to “Rear-centre 3-point type seatbelt” on page 5-12.
3. Lift the front end of the seat cushion.4. Flip the seat cushion forward.
5. Fold the seat belt buckles forward.6. Pull up the lever, then fold the seatbackforward.

1. Raise the seatback until it locks securelyinto place.
2. While lifting the seat belt’s buckle (A),gently lower the seat cushion. Make surethat there is a hook (B) at the positionshown in the illustration.
3. Push down the seat cushion until it locksinto place.4. Make sure the seat belt’s buckle is on theseat cushion.

By removing the head restraints and fullyreclining the seatbacks of the seats, one largeflat seat is achieved.
CAUTIONzDo not allow any person to sit on the flippedseat cushion, and do
not place luggage on it.
The seat’s mounting fittings could bendunder the weight, making it impossible forthe seat to be retained on the vehicle.

1. Remove the head restraints from the frontseats, raise the armrest and remove thecargo area cover.(Refer to “Head restraints” on page 5-5,“Armrest” on page 5-5 and “Cargo areacover” on page 8-71)
2. Slide the front seats fully forward, thenrecline the seatbacks backwards toachieve a flat surface.(Refer to “Front seats” on page 5-3)3. Recline the rear seatbacks backwards.(Refer to “Rear seats” on page 5-5)
4. The flat seat configuration is now com-plete. Reverse the above procedures whenreturning the seat to the normal position.

To p r o t e c t y o u a n d y o u r p a s s e n g e r s i n t h eevent of an accident, it is the most importantthat the seat belts be worn correctly while youdrive.The front seat belts have a pre-tensioner sys-tem. These belts are used the same way as aconventional seat belt.Refer to “Seat belt pre-tensioner system andforce limiter system” on page 5-14.
