Stop the vehicle in a safe place, stop the Plug-in Hybrid EV system, and take a rest.Use this display as rough guide for taking rests during a long drive.The interval from the start of your trip until this message is displayed can be set.Refer to “Changing the time until “REST REMINDER” is displayed” on page 6-19.The display and buzzer alert the driver when the set time is reached. If you continue to drive without having a rest, the buzzer sounds about every 5 minutes to encourage you to take a rest.zIn the following cases, the time driven is reset and the display returns to the previous dis-play screen. After this, when the set time is reached again, the buzzer and display encourage you to take a rest.•The buzzer sounds 3 times.•Put the operation mode in OFF.• The multi information display switch is held for about 2 seconds or more.

This lamp is a part of anonboard diagnostic systemwhich monitors the emissions,engine control system.If a problem is detected in one
of these systems, this lamp illuminates orflashes.Although your vehicle will usually be driva-ble and not need towing, we recommend youto have the system checked as soon as possi-ble.This lamp will also illuminate when the oper-ation mode of the power switch is put in ON,and goes off after the Plug-in Hybrid EV Sys-tem has started. If it does not go off after thePlug-in Hybrid EV System has started, werecommend you to have the vehicle checked.
This data will be erased if a auxiliary batterycable is disconnected which will make a rapiddiagnosis difficult. Do not disconnect a auxil-iary battery cable when the check enginewarning lamp is ON.

zThe vehicle should be brought to a halt in thefollowing manner when brake performancehas deteriorated.• Depress the brake pedal harder than usual.Even if the brake pedal moves down to thevery end of its possible stroke, keep itpressed down hard.
• Should the brakes fail, use regenerativebraking to reduce your speed and carefullypull the parking brake lever.Depress the brake pedal to operate the stoplamp to alert the vehicles behind you.
Check engine warning lamp

CAUTIONzProlonged driving with this lamp on maycause further damage to the emission controlsystem. It could also
affect fuel economy and

zIf the operation mode of the power switchis put in OFF or ACC while the lampswitch is in the “ ” or “ ” position,the lamps will turn off automaticallywhen the driver"s door is opened.zIf the operation mode of the power switchis put in OFF or ACC while the lampswitch is in the “ ” or “ ” position,the lamps will remain on for about 3 min-utes while the driver’s door is shut andwill then automatically turn off.
1. Turn the lamp switch in the “OFF” posi-tion while the operation mode of thepower switch is in OFF or ACC.2. Turn on the lamps with the switch in the“ ” or “ ” position again, then thelamps will remain on.3. When 1 minute has passed, the lamps willautomatically be turned off.

This function turns on the position and taillamps for about 30 seconds after theUNLOCK switch on the remote control trans-mitter is pressed when the combination head-lamps and dipper switch is in the “OFF” or“AUTO” position (for vehicles equipped withthe automatic lamp control). On vehiclesequipped with the automatic lamp control(except for vehicles equipped with LDW), thewelcome light function will operate onlywhen it is dark outside the vehicle.

This function turns on the headlamps in thelow beam setting for about 30 seconds afterthe operation mode is put in OFF.1. Turn the combination headlamps and dip-per switch to the “OFF” or “AUTO” posi-tion (for vehicles equipped with theautomatic lamp control).2. Put the operation mode of the powerswitch in OFF.
3. Within 60 seconds of putting the opera-tion mode in OFF, pull the turn signallever towards you.4. The headlamps will come on in the lowbeam setting for about 30 seconds. Afterthe headlamps go off, the headlamps canbe turned on again in the low beam settingfor about 30 seconds by pulling the turnsignal lever towards you within 60 sec-onds of putting the operation mode inOFF.To t u r n o n t h e h e a d l a m p s a g a i n a f t e r 6 0seconds of putting the operation mode inOFF, repeat the process from step 1.

zThe high beams can also flash when the lampswitch is OFF.zIf you turn the lamps off with the headlampsset to highbeam, the headlamps are automati-cally returned to their low-beam settingwhen the lamp switch is next turned to the“” position.
