When the display is reset, the time until thenext periodic inspection is displayed and thewarning display is no longer displayed whenthe operation mode is changed from OFF toON.1. When you lightly press the multi informa-tion display switch a few times, the infor-mation screen switches to the servicereminder display screen.2. Press and hold the multi information dis-play switch for about 2 seconds or more todisplay “ ” and make it flash. (If there isno operation for about 10 seconds withflashing, the display returns to the previ-ous screen.)
3. Lightly press the multi information dis-play switch while the icon is flashing tochange the display from “---” to“CLEAR”. After this, the time until thenext periodic inspection will be displayed.

When the operation mode is put in ON, thesystem check screen is displayed for about 4seconds. If there is no fault, informationscreen (when the operation mode is ON) isdisplayed.If there is a fault, the screen changes to warn-ing display.Refer to “Warning display list” on page 6-22.

zWhen operating the Plug-in Hybrid EV System, the selector lever is in a position other than the “P” (PARK) position, or you pressed the power switch without depress-ing the brake pedal.
zPlace the selector lever in the “P” (PARK) position, depress the brake pedal with the right foot. Then, press the power switch.Refer to “Starting and stopping the Plug-in Hybrid EV System” on page 7-12.
zDriving power is restricted by the safety system as the Plug-in Hybrid EV System has become too hot or too cold.
zYo u d o n o t h a v e t o t a k e a n y a c t i o n s . T h e restriction on the driving power will be released when the Plug-in Hybrid EV Sys-tem returns to the normal temperature.
zIf the vehicle had not been refueled about 15 litres or more at one time for a long time, the engine starts automatically for the maintenance and fuel system components.This display may appear frequently depending on the use conditions of your vehicle such as when the fuel has been staying in the fuel tank for a long time.When the engine is running, this display shows the state where the drive battery is charged, and the battery charge mode dis-play (
) is displayed.
zRefill the 15 litres more at one time. This display and battery charge mode display will disappear, and the engine will stop.

After operating the vehicle in rough road con-ditions, be sure to perform the followinginspection and maintenance procedures:zCheck that the vehicle has not been dam-aged by rocks, gravel, etc.zCarefully wash the vehicle with water.Drive the vehicle slowly while lightlydepressing the brake pedal in order to dryout the brakes. If the brakes still do notfunction properly, we recommend you tohave the brakes checked as soon as possi-ble.zRemove the insects, dried grass, etc. clog-ging the radiator core.zCheck the inside of the vehicle. If waterentry is found, dry the carpet etc.zInspect the headlamps, If the headlampbulb is flooded with water, we recom-mend you to have it drained.

Use of any other refrigerant or lubricant willcause severe damage which will result in theneed to replace your vehicle’s entire air con-ditioning system. New regulations in supportof the Australian Government’s Ozone Pro-tection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Man-agement Act 1989 became effective inJanuary 2005. To ensure your vehicle servic-ing and repairs conform with requirements,the air conditioning system should beinspected and maintained by a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point.The air conditioner should be operated for atleast five minutes each week, even in coldweather. This is to prevent poor lubrication ofthe compressor internal parts and to maintainthe air conditioner in the best operating con-dition.

An air filter has been incorporated into thisair conditioner so that dirt and dust arecleaned from the air.Replace the air filter periodically as its abilityto clean the air will be reduced as it collectspollen and dirt. For the maintenance interval,refer to the “SERVICE BOOKLET”.

Sea water contains salt, which generallyaccelerates corrosion of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Wind born spray from thesea can distribute salt for a distance of up to20 km from the shore line with prevailing on-shore winds, although the effect is generallyworse within 2 km of the shore. Salt spraycovers roads, and may be passed to your vehi-cle as dust, or as salt spray after rain. For thisreason it is important to wash all the vehicleincluding the underside (not forgetting theplug-in hybrid EV system bay and plug-inhybrid EV system bay components). See sec-tion entitled “Engine compartment” for rec-ommended cleaning practices.Ensure you request a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point to con-duct the scheduled Preventative Maintenancecorrosion inspection if you live within 20 kmof the sea. ter washing equipment
apply high pressure and
heat to the vehicle.
They may cause heat distortion and damageto the vehicle resin parts and may result inflooding of the vehicle interior.Therefore;•Maintain a distance of approx. 70 cm ormore between the vehicle body and thewashing nozzle.•When washing around the door glass, holdthe nozzle at a distance of more than 70 cmand at right angles to the glass surface.
zAfter washing the vehicle, drive the vehicleslowly while lightly depressing the brakepedal several times in order to dry out thebrakes.Leaving the brakes wet could result inreduced braking performance. Also, there isa possibility that they could freeze up orbecome inoperative due
to rust, rendering the
vehicle unable to move.zUsing an automatic car wash, pay attentionto the following items, referring to the opera-tion manual or consulting a car wash opera-tor. If the following procedure is notfollowed, it could result in damage to yourvehicle.•The outside rear-view mirrors are retracted.•The antenna is removed.•The wiper arms are secured in place withtape.CAUTION
