not designate its size. Choose the valve lifter

ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION
1. Apply:
Molybdenum disulfide oil
Onto the valve stem and valve stem
seal.
2. Install:

NOTE:
Make sure that each valve is installed in its
original place, also referring to the painted
color as follows.
Intake (middle) a: light blue

1. Kombination:
Für diese Kombination ist die nachfolgen-
de Tabelle zu verwenden und die Farb-
markierungen von Zylinderkopf und Tas-
senstößel aufeinander abzustimmen.
HINWEIS:
Beim Erwerb des Zylinderkopfes kann dessen
Größe nicht vorher bestimmt werden. Daher
sind die Tassenstößel entsprechend der obi-
gen Tabelle zu wählen. Kombination

(auf Ventilschaft und Ventilschaft-Ab-
dichtung)

HINWEIS:
Sicherstellen, daß jedes Ventil in seine ur-
sprüngliche Lage montiert wird. Dabei sind
die folgendenFarbmarkierungen zu beach-
ten.
Einlaß (Mitte) a: hellblau
Einlaß (rechts/links) b: weiß
Auslaß: ohne Farbmarkierung
Die Ventilfedern mit der größeren Steigung

1. Combiner:
Il faut combiner le repère de couleur de la
culasse et celui du poussoir de soupape con-
formément au tableau ci-après.
N.B.:
Les culasses neuves sont identifiées d’après leur
repère de couleur, pas d’après leur taille. Lors de
l’achat, il convient de sélectionner un poussoir de
soupape de la couleur appropriée. Combinaison

ASSEMBLAGE ET MONTAGE
1. Appliquer:
Huile au bisulfure de molybdène
Sur la queue de soupape et la bague d’étan-
chéité de queue de soupape.
2. Monter:
Soupapes 1
Sièges de ressort de soupape 2
Bagues d’étanchéité de queue de soupape

Ressorts de soupape 4
Logements de ressort de soupape 5
N.B.:
S’assurer de remettre chaque soupape dans sa
position d’origine, en se référant aux repères en
couleur:
Admission (centre) a: bleu clair
Admission (droite/gauche) b: blanc
Echappement: pas de couleur
Installer les ressorts de soupape en tournant le pas
le plus grand c vers le haut.

3. Install:
Valve cotters
NOTE:
While compressing the valve spring with a
valve spring compressor 1 install the valve
cotters.
4. To secure the valve cotters onto the
valve stem, lightly tap the valve tip with a
piece of wood.
CAUTION:
Hitting the valve tip with excessive force
could damage the valve.

5. Install:
Adjusting pad 1
Valve lifter 2
NOTE:
Apply the engine oil on the valve lifters.
Apply the molybdenum disulfide oil on the
valve stem end.
Valve lifter must turn smoothly when rotated
with a finger.
Be careful to reinstall valve lifters and pads
in their original place.

3. Montieren:
Ventilkeile
HINWEIS:
Die Ventilfeder mit Ventilfederspanner 1 zu-
sammendrücken, dann die Ventilkeile einset-
zen.
4. Zur Sicherung der Ventilkeile auf dem
Ventilschaft mit einem Holzstück leicht
auf das Ventilschaftende schlagen.
ACHTUNG:
Starke Schläge auf das Ventilschaftende
können das Ventil beschädigen.

5. Montieren:
Ventilplättchen 1
Tassenstößel 2
HINWEIS:
Molybdändisulfidfett auf Ventilschaftende
auftragen.
Motoröl auf die Tassenstößel auftragen.
Die Tassenstößel müssen sich mühelos mit
einem Finger drehen lassen.
Die Ventilplättchen und Tassenstößel müs-
sen an der ursprünglichen Stelle eingesetzt
werden.

3. Monter:
Clavettes de soupape
N.B.:
Installer les clavettes de soupape en comprimant le
ressort de soupape à l’aide d’un compresseur de
ressort de soupape 1.
4. Pour fixer les clavettes de soupape sur la
queue de soupape, tapoter la pointe de sou-
pape à l’aide d’un bout de bois.
ATTENTION:
Une frappe trop forte sur la pointe de soupape
pourrait endommager la soupape.

5. Monter:
Cales de réglage 1
Poussoir de soupape 2
N.B.:
Enduire l’extrémité de la queue de soupape
d’huile au bisulfure de molybdène.
Enduire les poussoirs de soupape d’huile de
moteur.
Quand on le fait tourner du doigt, un poussoir de
soupape doit tourner en douceur.
Prendre soin de remettre les poussoirs de soupa-
pes et les cales dans lour position d’origine.

REMOVAL POINTS
Piston
1. Remove:
Piston pin clips 1
Piston pin 2

NOTE:
Put identification marks on each piston head
for reference during reinstallation.
Before removing each piston pin, deburr the
clip groove and pin hole area. If the piston
pin groove is deburred and the piston pin is
still difficult to remove, use the piston pin
puller 4.
CAUTION:
Do not use a hammer to drive the piston
pin out.
Piston ring
1. Remove:
Piston rings
NOTE:
Spread the end gaps apart while at the same
time lifting the piston ring over the top of the
piston crown, as shown in the illustration.
INSPECTION
Cylinder and piston
1. Inspect:
Cylinder and piston walls
Vertical scratches → Replace cylinder
and piston.
2. Measure:
Piston-to-cylinder clearance

Measurement steps:
1st step:
Measure the cylinder bore “C” with a cylin-
der bore gauge.
NOTE:
Measure the cylinder bore “C” in parallel to
and at right angles to the crankshaft. Then,
find the average of the measurements.
