There are two significant reasons for knowing
the serial number of your machine:
1. When ordering parts, you can give the
number to your Yamaha dealer for positive
identification of the model you own.
2. If your machine is stolen, the authorities
will need the number to search for and
identify your machine.
EC121001
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
The vehicle identification number

is
stamped on the right of the steering head pipe.
EC123001
ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER
The engine serial number

is stamped into
the elevated part of the right-side of the
engine.

MODEL LABEL
The model label

is affixed to the frame
under the rider’s seat. This information will be
needed to order spare parts.

FAHRZEUG-IDENTIFIZIERUNGS-

Die Fahrzeug-Identifizierungsnum-
mer 1 ist auf der rechten Seite des
Lenkkopfes eingeschlagen.
MOTOR-IDENTIFIZIERUNGSNUM-
MER
Die Motor-Identifizierungsnummer 1
ist oben auf der rechten Kurbelge-
häuseseite eingeschlagen.
MODELLCODE-INFORMATION
Das Modellcode-Klebeschild 1 ist
an abgebildeter Stelle auf dem Rah-
men angebracht. Die Codenummer
und das Info-Kürzel werden zur
Ersatzteil-Bestellung benötigt.
IDENTIFICATION DE LA

au concessionnaire Yamaha
d’identifier clairement la machine.
2. En cas de vol du véhicule, la

NUMERO D’IDENTIFICATION DU
VEHICULE
Le numéro d’identification du véhicule
1 est frappé du côté droit du tube de tête
de fourche.
NUMERO DE SERIE DU MOTEUR
Le numéro de série du moteur 1 est
estampé sur un bossage sur le côté droit
du moteur.
ETIQUETTE D’IDENTIFICATION
DU MODELE
L’étiquette d’identification du modèle
1 est apposée sur le cadre, sous la selle
du pilote. Les informations reprises sur
cette étiquette sont requises lors de la
commande de nouvelles pièces.

2. Si le roban el vehículo, las autori-
dades deberán conocer el número
de serie del vehículo que deben
buscar para poder identificarlo.
NÚMERO DE IDENTIFICACIÓN
DEL VEHÍCULO
El número de identificación del vehículo
1 va grabado en el lado derecho del
tubo de la columna de dirección.
NÚMERO DE SERIE DEL MOTOR
El número de serie del motor 1 va gra-
bado en la parte elevada del lado derecho
del motor.
ETIQUETA DEL MODELO
La etiqueta del modelo 1 está colocada
en el bastidor, debajo del asiento del
conductor. Esta información será necesa-
ria para solicitar piezas de repuesto.

PREPARATION FOR REMOVAL AND
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove all dirt, mud, dust, and foreign
material before removal and disassem-
bly.
2. Use proper tools and cleaning equip-
ment. Refer to “SPECIAL TOOLS” sec-
tion.
3. When disassembling the machine, keep
mated parts together. They include
gears, cylinders, pistons, and other
mated parts that have been “mated”
through normal wear. Mated parts must
be reused as an assembly or replaced.
4. During the machine disassembly, clean
all parts and place them in trays in the
order of disassembly. This will speed up
assembly time and help assure that all
parts are correctly reinstalled.
5. Keep away from fire.

ALL REPLACEMENT PARTS
1. We recommend to use Yamaha genuine
parts for all replacements. Use oil and/or
grease recommended by Yamaha for
assembly and adjustment.

1. Vor dem Ausbau oder Zerle-
gen der Bauteile sämtlichen
Schmutz, Schlamm, Staub so-
wie andere Fremdkörper ent-
fernen.
2. Nur geeignete Werkzeuge und
Reinigungsmittel verwenden.
Siehe unter “SPEZIALWERK-
ZEUGE”.
3. Beim Zerlegen zusammenge-
hörige Teile immer gemein-
sam ablegen. Dies gilt beson-
ders für Zahnräder, Zylinder,
Kolben und alle beweglichen
Teile, die miteinander arbei-
ten. Solche Baugruppen dür-
fen nur komplett wiederver-
wendet oder ausgetauscht
werden
4. Alle ausgebauten Teile reini-
gen und in der Reihenfolge
des Ausbaus auf einer saube-
ren Unterlage ablegen. Dies
gewährleistet einen zügigen
und korrekten Zusammenbau.
5. Alle Teile von offenem Feuer
fernhalten.
ERSATZTEILE
1. Nur Original-Ersatzteile von
Yamaha verwenden. Nur von
Yamaha empfohlene Schmier-
stoffe verwenden. Fremdfabri-
kate erfüllen häufig nicht die
gestellten Qualitätsanforde-
rungen.
INFORMATIONS IMPOR-

PREPARATION POUR LA DEPOSE
ET DEMONTAGE
1. Eliminer soigneusement crasse,
boue, poussière et corps étrangers
avant la dépose et le démontage.
2. Utiliser les outils et le matériel de
nettoyage correct. Se reporter à la
section “OUTILS SPECIAUX”.
3. Lors du démontage de la
machine, garder les pièces conne-
xes ensemble. Ils comprennent
les engrenages, cylindres, pistons
et autres pièces connexes qui se
sont “accouplées” par usure nor-
male. Les pièces connexes doi-
vent être réutilisées en un
ensemble ou changées.
4. Lors du démontage de la
machine, nettoyer toutes les piè-
ces et les mettre dans des pla-
teaux dans l’ordre du démontage.
Ceci diminuera le temps de
remontage et permettra d’être sûr
que toutes les pièces sont correc-
tement remontées.
5. Tenir éloigné du feu.
PIECES DE RECHANGE
1. Nous recommandons d’utiliser
des pièces Yamaha d’origine
pour tous les remplacements. Uti-
liser les huiles/graisses recom-
mandées par Yamaha lors des
remontages et réglages.

1. Antes de emprender las operacio-
nes de extracción y desmontaje,
elimine toda la suciedad, barro y
polvo del vehículo.
2. Utilice las herramientas y el
equipo de limpieza adecuados.
Consulte el apartado “HERRA-
MIENTAS ESPECIALES”.
3. Cuando desmonte la máquina,
mantenga juntas las piezas que
vayan emparejadas. Esto incluye
los engranajes, cilindros, pisto-
nes y otras piezas análogas que
hayan resultado “emparejadas”
por el desgaste normal. Las pie-
zas emparejadas deben reutili-
zarse como un juego o ser
sustituidas.
4. Durante el desmontaje de la
máquina, limpie todas las piezas
y colóquelas en bandejas según el
orden de desmontaje. Esto acele-
rará el proceso de montaje y per-
mitirá la correcta instalación de
las piezas.
5. Mantenga las piezas alejadas del
fuego.
PIEZAS DE RECAMBIO
1. Recomendamos utilizar piezas
originales Yamaha en todas las
sustituciones. Para los procesos

aceite y la grasa recomendados

GASKETS, OIL SEALS AND O-RINGS
1. All gaskets, oil seals, and O-rings should
be replaced when an engine is over-
hauled. All gasket surfaces, oil seal lips,
and O-rings must be cleaned.
2. Properly oil all mating parts and bearings
during reassembly. Apply grease to the
oil seal lips.

LOCK WASHERS/PLATES AND COTTER
PINS
1. All lock washers/plates
1
and cotter pins
must be replaced when they are
removed. Lock tab(s) should be bent
along the bolt or nut flat(s) after the bolt
or nut has been properly tightened.

BEARINGS AND OIL SEALS
1. Install the bearing(s)
1
and oil seal(s)
2
with their manufacturer’s marks or num-
bers facing outward. (In other words, the
stamped letters must be on the side
exposed to view.) When installing oil
seal(s), apply a light coating of light-
weight lithium base grease to the seal
lip(s). Oil the bearings liberally when
installing.
CAUTION:

Do not use compressed air to spin the
bearings dry. This causes damage to the
bearing surfaces.

CIRCLIPS
1. All circlips should be inspected carefully
before reassembly. Always replace pis-
ton pin clips after one use. Replace dis-
torted circlips. When installing a circlip
1,
make sure that the sharp-edged corner
2 is positioned opposite to the thrust 3 it
receives. See the sectional view.
