NOTE:
While compressing the valve spring with a
valve spring compressor 1 install the valve
cotters.
4. To secure the valve cotters onto the
valve stem, lightly tap the valve tip with a
piece of wood.
CAUTION:
Hitting the valve tip with excessive force
could damage the valve.

NOTE:
lApply the molybdenum disulfied oil on the
valve stem end.
lApply the engine oil on the valve lifters.
lValve lifter must turn smoothly when rotated
with a finger.
lBe careful to reinstall valve lifters and pads
in their original place.

ner 1 und Halterung zusammen-
drücken, dann die Ventilkeile einset-
zen.

auf dem Ventilschaft mit ei-
nem Holzstück leicht auf das
Ventilschaftende schlagen.
ACHTUNG:
Starke Schläge auf das Ventil-
schaftende können das Ventil be-
schädigen.
5. Montieren:
lVentilplättchen 1
lTassenstößel 2
HINWEIS:
lMolybdändisulfidfett auf Ventil-
schaftende auftragen.
lMotoröl auf die Ventilheber auftra-
gen.
lDie Tassenstößel müssen sich
mühelos mit einem Finger drehen
lassen.
lDie Ventilplättchen und Tassenstö-
ßel müssen an der ursprünglichen
Stelle eingesetzt werden. 3. Monter:

N.B.:
Installer les clavettes de soupape tout en
comprimant le ressort de soupape avec
un compresseur de ressort de soupape 1
et l’accessoire.

4. Pour fixer les clavettes de sou-
pape sur la queue de soupape,
tapoter la pointe de soupape à
l’aide d’un bout de bois.
ATTENTION:
Une frappe trop forte sur la pointe de
soupape pourrait endommager la sou-
pape.
5. Monter:

lPoussoir de soupape 2
N.B.:
lEnduire l’extrémité de la queue de
soupape d’huile au bisulfure de moly-
bdène.
lEnduire les poussoirs de soupape
d’huile moteur.
lQuand on le fait tourner du doigt, un
poussoir de soupape doit tourner en
douceur.
lPrendre soin de remettre les poussoirs
de soupapes et les cales dans leur posi-
tion d’origine.3. Installare:
lSemiconi
NOTA:
Comprimendo la molla della valvola con
un apposito compressore 1 installare i
semiconi.

4. Per fissare i semiconi della val-
vola sullo stelo della valvola, pic-
chiettare leggermente con un
pezzo di legno sulla punta della
valvola.
ATTENZIONE:
Percuotendo eccessivamente la punta
della valvola si rischia di danneggiare
la valvola.
5. Installare:
lSpessore di regolazione 1
lAlzavalvola 2
NOTA:
lApplicare olio al disolfuro di molib-
deno sulla estremità dello stelo della
valvola.
lApplicare olio motore sugli alzaval-
vola.
lL’alzavalvola deve ruotare agevol-
mente quando viene fatto ruotare con
un dito.
lFare attenzione a reinstallare gli alza-
valvola e gli spessori nelle rispettive
posizioni originali.

REMOVAL POINTS
Piston and piston ring
1. Remove:

NOTE:
lPut identification marks on each piston head
for reference during reinstallation.
lBefore removing each piston pin, deburr the
clip groove and pin hole area. If the piston
pin groove is deburred and the piston pin is
still difficult to remove, use the piston pin
puller set 4.
CAUTION:
Do not use a hammer to drive the piston
pin out.
2. Remove:
lPiston ring 1
NOTE:
Spread the end gaps apart while at the same
time lifting the piston ring over the top of the
piston crown, as shown in the illustration.

INSPECTION
Cylinder and piston
1. Inspect:
lCylinder and piston walls
Vertical scratches ® Replace cylinder
and piston.
2. Measure:
lPiston-to-cylinder clearance
Measurement steps:
1st step:
lMeasure the cylinder bore “C” with a cylin-
der bore gauge.
NOTE:
Measure the cylinder bore “C” in parallel to
and at right angles to the crankshaft. Then,
find the average of the measurements.
