a luxury rear seat forve hicle occupants forw ards
or backwards by5 cm. In doing so, make sure
th at vehicle occupants ha vesuf ficient legroom to
re duce therisk of injury during braking. #
Pull release handle 1inthe direction of the
ar row. #
With th ere lease handle pulled, slide the
luxury rear seat tothe desired position. #
Let go of release handle 1. #
Slide the luxury rear seat forw ards and back‐
wa rds until the car riage is cor rectly engaged
on bo thsides.
It should not be possible tomo vethe seat.
Moving the luxu ryrear seat from the second
seat row #
Push le ver3 down. #
Slide the luxury rear seat forw ards or back‐
wa rds.
% A luxury
rear seat is generally remo ved and
ins talled in the same way as a standard rear
seat (/ page84). Due tothe high-quality
design and thete ch nical equipment,
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you ha ve
luxury rear seats ins talled at a qualified spe‐
cialist workshop.

Seat backrest grab strap

Use only cor responding grab stra ps 1 and 2to
adjust the seat/bunk combination.
The seat/bunk combination can accommodate
th re e persons. You can adjust the seat backrest
to ave rtical and horizon tal position. If you set the
seat backrest tothe horizontal position, this –
to ge ther with the bed extension – will gi veyou a
full-length bed for two people.
Pa ssengers may use the seats of the seat/bunk
combination only when the seat backrest is
upright. Only then do the seat belts pr ovide the
intended deg ree of pr otection.
The seat/bunk combination is fitted wi thtwo
re mo vable stow age compartments under the seat
sur face (/ page 98). You can use these stow‐
age compartments tostore bedding, forex ample.
Po sitioning the seats in the optimum area of
pr otection 0047
Basic setting
St arting from the basic setting 0047,the seat/bunk
combination for passengers can be mo vedfo r‐
wa rds or backwards by5 cm. In doing so, make Seats and

that passengers ha vesuf ficient legroom to
re duce therisk of injury during braking.
Using the seat/bunk combination
Moving the seat/bunk combination
Yo u can mo vethe seat/bunk combination only
when it is unoccupied. Pull the seat/bunk combi‐
nation forw ards using only the loop between the
seat sur face and the seat backrest. %
If
th e seat sliders on the front rear seat row
are toofar back in the guide rails, the seat/
bunk combination cannot be movedfo rw ard.
In this case, use the handle forth e seat slid‐
ers tomo vethe seat sliders. #
Pull release handle 1up as far as it will go
and hold it in this position. #
Grasp the loop between the seat sur face and
th e seat backrest and mo vethe seat/bunk
combination. #
Let go of release handle 1.
The locking mechanism will engage automati‐
call y. #
Make sure that all seat sliders forfo re -and-aft
adjustment engage audibly on bo thsides.
It should no longer be possible tomo vethe
seat/bunk combination.
Bed extension #
Tofold up: pullrelease handle 2back and
mo vebed extension 3into an up right posi‐
tion.
The bed extension will engage in an up right
position. #
Toremo ve:fo ld up bed extension 3and
unscr ewthumbscr ews4.
The bed extension will now be loose and
capable of being remo ved from the guide
ra ils. #
Toinstall: guide bed extension 3into the
guide rails and tigh tenth umbscr ews4.
Setting up/folding away the ber th &

Any vehicle occupant using a bed while the
ve hicle is in motion cannot be restra ined
proper ly. #
Use the bed only when theve hicle is

When folding the seat backrest up or down,
yo u could cause yourself or other vehicle
occupants tobecome trapped. #
Make sure that thera nge of mo vement
of the seat backrest is clear and that no

Rotate the head restra ints by180° and insert
th em into brac kets 5 onthere ar side of the
seat backrest. #
Pull backrest release handle 8up and adjust
th e seat backrest toa horizontal position.
When doing so, hold on tothe seat backrest
only bythe grab stra p. #
Fold down the short section of the bed exten‐
sion 6. #
Tofold aw ay: perform thesteps toset up the
ber thinreve rse order.
Af ter use, finish bymoving the seat/bunk combi‐
nation back tothe basic setting and ensure that
th e seat backrest is in an upright position. Moving
the seat sliders When
youre mo vethe seat/bunk combination, a
re ar ben chseat or a seat, the seat slider may
slide in a guide rail. The seat sliders will then no
longer be parallel in the guide rails. In this case,
yo u will no lon ger be able tofit th ere spective
seating. The seat sliders must be mo ved using
only the handle for seat sliders 1or at a quali‐
fi ed specialist workshop in order toprev ent the
ri sk of damage.
In addition, you can use the end of the handle to
open and close the loc kson the sliders.

nation &

Always make sure that there ar ben ch
seat is engaged as described. In order
toensure that there ar ben chseat can
securely engage, keep the seat guide rails and
anchora ges in theve hicle floor free from dirt and
fo re ign objects.
If th e indicator tab of the seat anchorage is not
re tracted into the seat anchorage, the seat is not
cor rectly engaged. Engage the seat again.
Re moving the seat/bunk combination
A seat/bunk combination may not be fitted in the
fa ce-to-face position. %
In
vehicles with a seat rail sy stem, car ryout
th ere lease, remo val and subsequent reins tal‐
lation of a rear ben chseat at the mar ked at
th e mar ked basic setting. #

Make sure that release handles for front seat
legs 2are folded underneath in the direc‐
tion of thefloor of theve hicle. #
Foldthe seat/bunk combination back into
th e seat position. #
Press there lease handle forth ere ar seat
anchorage 1down wards until the indicator
ta bs 4 have fully retracted into there ar seat
anchorages.
The rear seat anchorages of the seat/bunk com‐
bination are cor rectly engaged when the seat
anchorages engage audibly and the indicator tabs
4 onthe seat anchorages are no longer visible
and ha vefully retracted into the seat anchorages. Head

justing the head restra int mechanically &
WARNING Risk of injury ifve hicle set‐
tings are adjus ted while theve hicle is in
motion
Yo u could lose control of theve hicle in partic‐
ular in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifyo u adjust the driver's seat, the head
re stra ints, thesteering wheel or the mir‐
ro r while theve hicle is in motion.
R Ifyo ufast enyour seat belt while theve hi‐
cle is in motion. #
Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, head restra ints, steering
wheel and mir ror in particular and fas‐
te nyo ur seat belt. 92

re stra ints not being fitted or being adjus‐
te d incor rectly
If head restra ints ha venot been ins talled or
ha ve not been adjus ted cor rectly, there is an
increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in theev ent of an accident or when
braking. #
Always drive with the head restra ints fit‐
te d. #
Before driving off, make sure forev ery
ve hicle occupant that the cent reofthe
head restra int supports the back of the
head at about eye le vel. Do not inter
change the head restra ints of the
front and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able toset the height and inclination of the head
re stra ints tothe cor rect position.
Using the head restra int fore -and-aft adjustment,
adjust the head restra int so that it is as close to
th e back of the head as possible. #
Toraise: pullthe head restra int upwards into
th e desired position and ensure that it
engages.
% Use
the head restra int only when it is
engaged. #
Tolowe r:press release button 2, slidethe
head restra int down wards into the desired
position and ensure that it engages.

and pull the head restra int forw ards until it
