increased risk of injury in the head and neck

ve hicle occupant that the cent reofthe
head restra int supports the back of the
head at about eye le vel. &

Ve hicles with amplifiers under the driver's
seat: The amplifier can become hot during opera‐
tion.

Do not spill any fluids on tothe seats. If
some thing does get spilt onto the seats,

Ifth e seat co vers are moist or wet, do
not switch the seat heating on. Do not
use the seat heating todry the seats. #
Clean the seats as recommended. See
th e "Cleaning and care" section. #
Do not transport any heavy loads on the
seats. Do not place any sharp objects
such as knives, nails or tools on the
seats. Use the seats only for people if
possible. #
While the seat heating is in operation,
do not co verth e seats with insulating
materials such as blank ets, coats, bags,
pr otective co vers,ch ild seats or boos ter

Pull le ver1 upwards and slide the seat for‐
wa rds or back until the desired position has
been reached. #
Release le ver1 and push the seat back or
fo rw ards until you hear the seat engage.

r front swivel seats, the le ver in position
1 is used torelease the swivel seat. The
le ve rto adjust thefo re -and-aft position is in
th efo rm of a bar in front of the seat
(/ page 74).
Ad justing the seat height #
Pull or push le ver3 repeatedly until the
desired seat height has been reached.
Ad justing the seat backrest #
Turn handwheel 4forw ards.
The seat backrest will mo vetoave rtical posi‐
tion. #
Turn handwheel 4backwards.
The seat backrest will tilt bac k.
Ad justing the seat angle #
Turn handwheel 2forw ards.
The front of the seat cushion will tilt down. #
Turn handwheel 2backwards.
The front of the seat cushion will tilt up. Ad

WARNING Risk of injury ifve hicle set‐
tings are adjus ted while theve hicle is in
motion
Yo u could lose control of theve hicle in partic‐
ular in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifyo u adjust the driver's seat, the head
re stra ints, thesteering wheel or the mir‐
ro r while theve hicle is in motion.
R Ifyo ufast enyour seat belt while theve hi‐
cle is in motion. #
Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, head restra ints, steering
wheel and mir ror in particular and fas‐
te nyo ur seat belt. &
WARNING Risk of becoming trapped dur‐
ing seat adjustment
When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail. #
Make sure when adjusting a seat that
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat. Obser
vethe saf ety no tes on "Airbags" and "Chil‐
dren in theve hicle". &

Adjust the seat using buttons 1to5 on
th e door trim.
If th e ignition is not switched on, you can adjust
th e seat within 30 seconds of unlocking theve hi‐
cle.

inter venes, the front passenger seat will
automatically be adjus ted from a less favo ur‐
able position into one that of fers better pro‐
te ction. The front passenger seat can be
re adjus ted only af terth e hazardous situation

If yo u use the memory function on the driv‐
er's side while driving, you could lose control
of theve hicle as a result of the adjustments
being made. #
Only use the memory function on the
driver's side when theve hicle is station‐
ar y. &
WARNING Risk of entrapment when
adjusting the seat with the memory func‐
tion
When the memory function adjusts the seat,
yo u and other vehicle occupants – particu‐
lar lych ildren – could become trapped. #
During the adjustment process of the
memory function, make sure that no
one has any body parts in the sweep of
th e seat. #
If somebody becomes trapped, immedi‐
ately release the memory function posi‐
tion button.
The adjustment process is stopped. &
WARNING Risk of entrapment if the
memory function is activated bychildren
Children could become trapped if they acti‐
va te the memory function, particularly when
unattended. #

hicles with luxury rear seat: the memory
function is used identically tothe front seats.
Tw o memory positions are available.
Seat settings for up tothre e people can be stored
and called up using the memory function.

when
they are rotated.
This can damage the seats. #
When rotating the seats, make sure
th ere is suf ficient clea rance. Yo
u can rotate the driver's and front passenger
seats by50° and 180°. The seats engage bo thin
and opposite tothe direction of tra vel as well as
at 50° totheex it. #
When rotating the seat, open there spective
front door in order toavoid a collision with
th e door trim. #
Adjust thesteering wheel in such a wayth at
th ere is suf ficient clea rance torotate and
adjust the driver's seat (/ page 96). #
Push le ver1 inthe direction of the ar row.
The turning device will be unloc ked. #
Rotate the seat in the desired direction. #
Ifth ere is a risk of collision with the cent re
console or the B‑pillar, pull le ver2 upwards
and mo vethe front seat forw ards or back‐
wa rds into the desired position. Then release
le ve r2. #
Inthe desired position, make sure that the
seat has engaged in the direction of rotation
and the longitudinal direction. Ad
justing armrests #
Foldthe armrest upwards more than 45° in
position 0048.
The armrest will be unlo cked. #
Foldthe armrest forw ards 0049asfar as it will
go. #
Slowly fold the armrest upwards into the
re qu ired position. #
Tofold the armrest up wards: if necessar y,
fo ld the armrest upwards more than 90° in

If a seat is not engaged, it may be thrown
about while theve hicle is moving. #
Always make sure that all seats are
engaged as desc ribed. &

engaged
If th ere ar ben chseat is not engaged, it may
be flung around during tra vel. #
Always make sure that there ar ben ch
seat is engaged as described. Ke
ep the seat anchorages in theve hicle floor free
of dirt and objects at all times toensure that the
seat engages securely.
If th e indicator tab of the anchorage is not retrac‐
te d into the seat leg, the seat is not cor rectly
engaged. Engage the seat again. Example: seat
rail sy stem with quick- locking
mechanism
Guide rails 1 ofthe seat rail sy stem can be used
fo rth efo llowing purposes:
R For mounting up totwo rear seat rows
R For mounting bo threar seat rows facing one
ano ther
R For mounting rear seats and rear ben chseats
R For moving rear seats and rear ben chseats
% When
youre mo veare ar ben chseat or a
seat, the seat slider may slide into a guide
ra il. The seat sliders will then no longer be
parallel in the guide rails. In this case, you
will no longer be able tofit th ere spective
seating. The seat sliders must be mo ved only
using a special tool or at a qualified specialist
wo rkshop in order topreve nttherisk of dam‐ age. The
tool is available as a Mercedes-Benz
accesso ryor as part of a seat/bunk combi‐
nation.

If th ere ar ben chseats are incor rectly ins tal‐
led, the integrated saf ety precautions in the
re ar ben chseats cannot workas intended. #
Install there ar ben chseats only as
described. #
Only use rear ben chseats appr ovedfor
yo ur vehicle. Depending on
the type of seat anchorage in the
ve hicle floor, you can ins tallth efo llowing seating
va riants:
R Rear ben chseats with two or thre e seats
R Single rear seats
R Seat/bunk combination with thre e seats
Depending on theve hicle equipment, you can fit
th ere ar ben chseats and there ar seats on the
fi rs t and/or second rear seat row.
The seating variants shown are permit ted only if
th e conditions specified below for safe rear seat‐
ing are met. Other seating variants are not per‐
mit ted and may endanger the occupants.
When using only the individual seats, there ar
seats can be ins talled facing in the direction of
