The setting for rest interval can be changed.ScreenSolutionStop the vehicle in a safe place, turn off the engine, and take a rest.Use this display as rough guide for taking rests during a long drive.
The interval from the start of your trip until this message is displayed can be set. Refer to “Changing the time until “REST REMINDER” is displayed” on page 5-16.The display and buzzer alert the driver when the set time is reached. If you continue
to drive without having a rest, the buzzer sounds approximately every 5 minutes to
encourage you to take a rest.
z In the following cases, the time driven is reset and the display returns to the pre-
vious display screen. After this, when the set time is reached again, the buzzer and display encourage you to take a rest.

Indication lampsTurn-signal indication lamps/Hazard warning indication lamps
These indication lamps blink in the following situations.
z When the turn-signal
lever is moved to acti- vate a turn-signal lamp.

z When the hazard warning flasher switch
is pressed to activate the hazard warning lamps.

z When the hazard warning lamps auto-
matically activate due to sudden braking
while driving (vehicles equipped with

High-beam indication lamp
This indication lamp illumi-
nates when the high-beam is
used.
Front fog lamp indication

This lamp illuminates while
the front fog lamps are on.
Rear fog lamp indication

Position lamp indication lamp*
This indication lamp illumi-
nates while the position

Diesel preheat indication lamp
This indicates the glow plug
preheat condition.

When the ignition switch is
turned to the “ON” position, the lamp illumi-
nates. As the glow plug becomes hot, the lamp goes out and the engine can be started.
[For vehicles equipped with keyless opera-
tion system@
When the operation mode is put in ON, the
lamp illuminates and preheating of the glow plug starts automatically. As the glow plug
becomes hot, the lamp goes out and the en-
gine starts.
CAUT,ONz If the diesel preheat indication lamp comes
on after the engine is started, the engine speed may not rise above the idling speedbecause of fuel freezing. In this case, keep
the engine idling for about 10 minutes, then turn off the ignition switch or put in OFF the operation mode, and immediately turn it on
or put in ON again to confirm that the diesel preheat indication lamp is off.

NOTEzIf the engine is cold, the diesel preheat indi-
cation lamp is on for a longer time.

When the engine has not been started within about 5 seconds after the diesel preheat indi- cation lamp went out, return the ignition
switch to the “LOCK” position. Then, turn
the ignition switch to the “ON” position to preheat the engine again.
z When the engine is warm, the diesel preheat
indication lamp does not come on even if the
ignition switch is placed in the “ON” posi-
tion or the operation mode is in ON.Fuel filter indication lamp (Ve-
hicles equipped with the multi information display - Type 2)
This indication lamp illumi-
nates when the ignition
switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation
mode is put in ON, and goes off after the engine has star-
ted. If it lights up while the engine is running,
it indicates that water has accumulated inside
the fuel filter; if this happens, take action as follows.

Remove the water from the fuel filter. Refer
to “Removal of water from the fuel filter” on
page 8-11.

When the lamp goes out, you can resume
driving. If it either does not go out or comes on from time to time, we recommend you tohave the vehicle inspected.Warning lampsBrake warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when
the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON,
and goes off after a few sec- onds.
Always make sure that the lamp goes off be- fore driving.
With the ignition switch or the operation mode in ON, the brake warning lamp illumi-
nates under the following conditions:
z When the parking brake lever has been
engaged.
z When the brake fluid level in the reser-
voir falls to a low level.
z When the brake force distribution func-
tion is not operating correctly.

With the ignition switch or the operation
mode in ON, a buzzer sounds under the fol- lowing condition:
z The vehicle speed exceeds 8 km/h
(5 mph) with the parking brake applied.CAUT,ONz In the situations listed below, brake perform-
ance may be compromised or the vehicle may become unstable if brakes are applied
suddenly; consequently, avoid driving at
high speeds or applying the brakes suddenly. Furthermore, the vehicle should be brought
to a stop in a safe location and to have it checked.

Check engine warning lamp
This lamp is a part of an on-
board diagnostic system which monitors the emis-
sions, engine control system, SCR system or A/T control
system.
If a problem is detected in one of these sys- tems, this lamp illuminates or flashes.Although your vehicle will usually be driva-
ble and not need towing, we recommend you
to have the system checked as soon as possi-
ble.
This lamp will also illuminate when the igni- tion switch is turned “ON” or the operation
mode is put in ON, and goes off after the en- gine has started. If it does not go off after the
engine has started, we recommend you to have the vehicle checked.
CAUT,ONz Prolonged driving with this lamp on may
cause further damage to the emission control
system. It could also affect fuel economy and drivability.
z If the lamp does not illuminate when the ig-
nition switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON, we rec-
ommend you to have the system checked.CAUT,ONz If the lamp illuminates while the engine is
running, avoid driving at high speeds and have the system inspected by a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Serv-
ice Point as soon as possible.
Accelerator pedal and brake pedal response may be negatively influenced under these
conditions.NOTEz The engine electronic control module ac-
commodating the onboard diagnostic system has various fault data (especially about the
exhaust emission) stored.
This data will be erased if a battery cable is
disconnected which will make a rapid diag- nosis difficult. Do not disconnect a battery
cable when the check engine warning lamp is ON.
Charge warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when the ignition switch is turnedto the “ON” position or the
operation mode is put in ON,
and goes off after the engine
has started.
CAUT,ONz If it illuminates while the engine is running,
there is a problem in the charging system.
Immediately park your vehicle in a safe place and we recommend you to have it
checked.Oil pressure warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when
the ignition switch is turnedto the “ON” position or the
operation mode is put in ON,
and the lamp goes off after
the engine has started. If it il-
luminates while the engine is running, the oil pressure is too low.
If the warning lamp illuminates while the en-
gine is running, turn the engine off and have it inspected.
CAUT,ONz If this lamp illuminates when the engine oil
level is not low, have it inspected.
z This warning lamp does not indicate the
amount of oil in the crankcase. This must be
determined by checking the oil level on the dipstick, while the engine is switched off.
z If you continue driving with low engine oil
level or with this warning lamp illuminated, engine seizure may occur.

NOTEzThe oil pressure warning lamp should not be
treated as an indication of the engine’s oillevel. The oil level must be checked using
the dipstick.Door ajar warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when
a door is either open or not
completely closed.
If the vehicle speed reaches approximately 8 km/h
(5 mph) with a door open or
incompletely closed, a buzzer sounds 4 times as a warning.
CAUT,ONz Before moving your vehicle, check that the
warning lamp is OFF.LED headlamp warning lamp*
This warning lamp in the in-
strument cluster will illumi-
nate when there is a fault in the LED headlamps.
CAUT,ONz If the warning lamp illuminates, there may
be a fault on the unit. Have the vehicle checked at a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Au-
thorized Service Point.Engine oil level warning lamp
(Vehicles equipped with themulti information display - Type 2)
This lamp blinks when the
ignition switch or the opera-
tion mode is in ON, if it is
suspected that the engine oil level has increased exces-sively.
CAUT,ONz If this warning lamp blinks while driving,
stop the vehicle in a safe place, turn off the engine, and check the engine oil level.

ice Point.NOTEz If this warning lamp illuminates (not blink-

This lamp comes on when the washer fluid is running
low.
If the lamp comes on, re- plenish the container with
washer fluid.

This warning is displayed if you drive withthe parking brake still applied. The warning lamp in the instrument cluster also illumi-
nates when the parking brake is applied.
If this warning is displayed, lower the park- ing brake lever fully.CAUT,ONz If a vehicle is driven without releasing the
parking brake, the brake will be overheated,
resulting in ineffective braking and possible brake failure.
When the operation mode is put in ON, if the
brake fluid is low, this warning is displayed.
The warning lamp in the instrument cluster also illuminates.
CAUT,ONz If this warning stays illuminated and does
not go out while driving, there is a danger of ineffective braking. In this case, immediately
park your vehicle in a safe place and we rec-
ommend you to have it checked.CAUT,ONz If the brake warning display is displayed and
the brake warning lamp and the ABS warn-
ing lamp are illuminated at the same time,
the braking force distribution function will not operate, so the vehicle may be destabi-
lised during sudden braking. Avoid sudden
braking and high-speed driving, stop the ve- hicle in a safe place, and we recommend you
to have it checked.
z The vehicle should be brought to a halt in
the following manner when brake perform-
ance has deteriorated.
