The SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) on the instrument panel will illumi-nate for about 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" posi- tion or after the engine is started, afterwhich the SRI should go out.

Upon deployment, tear seams moldeddirectly into the pad covers will sepa- rate under pressure from the expansion of the airbags. Further opening of the covers then allows full inflation of the airbags. A fully inflated airbag in combination with a properly worn seat belt slows thedriver's or the passenger's forward mo- tion, thus reducing the risk of head or chest injury. After complete inflation, the airbag im- mediately starts deflating, enabling thedriver to maintain forward visibility. CAUTION:
When installing a container of liquidair freshener inside the vehicle, donot place it near the instrument clus- ter nor on the instrument panel pad surface. If there is any leakage fromthe air freshener onto these areas (Instrument cluster, instrument panel pad or air ventilator), it may damagethese parts. If the liquid from the air freshener does leak onto these ar- eas, wash them with water immedi-ately.

Passenger's Airbag
The airbag modules are located both in the centre of the steering wheel and in the front passenger's panel above the glove box. When the SRSCM detects aconsiderable impact to the front of the vehicle, it will automatically deploy the airbags.

o The SRS can function only when
the ignition key is in the "ON" position. If the SRS is not working properly,(1) The SRS SRI does not come on when the ignition key is turnedto the "ON" position or after theengine is started.
(2) The SRS SRI blinks for a sec-
ond and remains on after illu-minating for about 6 seconds when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position or after heengine is started.
(3) The SRS SRI illuminates while
driving.
If this occurs, have your vehicle immediately inspected by your Hyundai dealer.
o Before you replace a fuse or dis- connect a battery terminal, turnthe ignition key to the "LOCK"position or remove the ignition key. Never remove or replace the air bag related fuse(s) when theignition key is in the "ON" posi- tion. Failure to heed this warning may cause the SRS SRI to illumi-nate. B990B01MC-GAT Side Impact Airbag (If installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with a side impact airbag in each front seat. Thepurpose of the airbag is to provide the vehicle's driver and/or the front passen- ger with additional protection than thatoffered by the seat belt alone. The side impact airbags are designed to deploy only during certain side-impact colli-sions, depending on the crash severity, angle, speed and point of impact. The side impact air bags are not designed todeploy in all side impact situations.

Side airbag sensor
Important Safety Notes on the Side Airbag System Following is a number of safety points concerning this system which shouldalways be observed to ensure risk of injury is reduced in an accident. WARNING:
o The side impact airbag is supple- mental to the driver's and the passenger's seat belt systems andis not a substitute for them. There- fore your seat belts must be worn at all times while the vehicle is inmotion. The airbags deploy only in certain side impact conditions severe enough to cause signifi-cant injury to the vehicle occu- pants.
o For best protection from the side impact airbag system and to avoidbeing injured by the deploying side impact airbag, both front seatoccupants should sit in an upright position with the seat belt prop- erly fastened. The driver's handsshould be placed on the steering wheel at the 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock positions. The passenger's armsand hands should be placed on their laps.
o Do not use any accessory seat covers. o Use of seat covers could reduce or
prevent the effectiveness of the system.
o Do not install any accessories on
the side or near the side impactairbag.
o Do not use excessive force on the
side of the seat.
o Do not place any objects over the airbag or between the airbag andyourself.
o Do not place any objects (an um- brella, bag, etc.) between the frontdoor and the front seat. Such ob- jects may become dangerous pro- jectiles and cause injury if thesupplemental side impact air bag inflates.
o To prevent unexpected deploy-
ment of the side impact air bagthat may result in personal injury, avoid impact to the sideairbag sensor when the ignition key is on.

!WARNING:
o Before installing child restraints, always refer to "Child Restraint System" to ensure correct instal- lation and occupant protection is maximised.
o Make sure that the occupant does
not have any body parts (head, arms & legs) protruding outside the restraining system. If an inflat- ing airbag was to strike an infantchild on the head, it may cause serious injury.
o Ensure the opening for the Cur- tain Airbag System remains unob-structed at all times, so that the airbags can inflate properly ifneeded.
Important Safety Notes for Cur- tain Airbag Systems Following is a number of safety points concerning this system which shouldalways be observed to ensure risk of injury is reduced in an accident.
o The built in coat hooks should
only be used for light weight cloth- ing, ensure that pockets are free ofany heavy or sharp objects. When using coat hooks, do not hang clothes on coat hangers.
o The space between the occupant and the curtain airbag must neverbe occupied by children, passen-gers or pets. Occupants should never lean out or have any parts of their body protruding from thewindow whilst the engine is run- ning.
o Do not move the sun visor out to cover the side window if there isan item attached to it such as garage door remote control, pens, air fresheners or the like. These objects may cause injury if the Curtain Airbag is deployed.
o Where sun blinds are fitted to the rear doors, these must not ob-struct or impair the airbag in anyway.
B990C01CM-DAT Curtain Airbag (If Installed) Curtain airbags are located along both sides of the roof rails. It is designed to help protect the heads of the front seat occupants and the rear outboard seat occupants in certain sideimpact collisions. The curtain airbags are designed to deploy only during certain side impact collisions, depending on the crash se- verity, angle, speed and impact. Thecurtain airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations, collisions from the front or rear of thevehicle or in most rollover situations. OCM052213

B240C01JM-DAT SRS Care The SRS is virtually maintenance-free and so there are no parts you can safelyservice by yourself. If the SRS SRI (Service Reminder Indicator) does not come on, or continuously remains on,have your vehicle immediately in- spected by your authorised Hyundai dealer. Any work on the SRS system, such as removing, installing, repairing, or anywork on the steering wheel must be performed by a qualified Hyundai tech- nician. Improper handling of the SRSsystem may result in serious personal injury.
o Do not install any accessories or
children’s toys in the Curtain Airbag deployment zones, as this may impair the operation of the system or throw parts of them intothe vehicle cabin causing injury to occupants if the system is de- ployed.
o To maintain the integrity of the Curtain Airbag system, any work, removal or installation of theairbag and associated compo- nents (such as roof lining and side trims) should always be performed by a qualified vehicle repairer.

o Do not tamper with or disconnect
SRS wiring, or other components of the SRS system. Doing so could result in injury, due to acci- dental firing of the airbags or byrendering the SRS inoperative.
o If components of the air bag sys-
tem must be discarded, or if thevehicle must be scrapped, certain safety precautions must be ob- served. Your Hyundai dealerknows these precautions and can give you the necessary informa- tion. Failure to follow these precautions and procedures could increase therisk of personal injury.
o If you sell your vehicle, make cer-
tain that this manual is trans-ferred to the new owner.
o If your car was flooded and has
soaked carpeting or water on floor-ing, you shouldn't try to start the engine; have the car towed to an authorised Hyundai dealer.
o Modification to SRS components
or wiring, including the addition of any kind of badges to the pad cover or modifications to the bodystructure, can adversely affect SRS performance and lead to possible injury.
o For cleaning the horn pad, use only a soft, dry cloth or one whichhas been moistened with plainwater. Solvents or cleaners could adversely affect the airbag cover and proper deployment of the sys-tem.
o No objects should be placed over
or near the label identifying the airbag on the steering wheel and instrument panel, because any such object could cause harm ifthe vehicle is in a crash severe enough to cause the air bag to inflate.
o If the air bag inflates, it must be replaced by an authorised Hyundaidealer. o Do not replace the bumper or the
bumper guard with the one otherthan the Hyundai genuine parts.Otherwise, it can adversely affect SRS performance and lead to un- expected injury.
