When driving
Manual Transmission 
 : If equipped■ Shifting the shift lever
Fully depress the clutch pedal before operating the shift lever , and
then release it slowly.
■ Shifting the shift lever to R
Shift the shift lever to R while
lifting up the ring section.

Shift position indicator
The selected shift position will be
displayed on the multi-informa-
tion display. The selected shift position will not
appear in the following situations:
• When the shift lever is in N.
• When the vehicle speed is 6
mph (10 km/h) or less (except
when the shift lever is in R)
• When the clutch pedal is
depressed.
The default setting of the indicator
is off. The indicator can be turned
on/off. ( P. 204, 217)

Shift-up indicator
To help enable fuel-efficient driv-
ing, the shift-up indicator flashes
3 times to indicate upshift timing.

When driving NOTICE■ To prevent damage t o the transmission
● Do not lift up the ring section except when shifting the lever to R.
● Shift the shift lever to R only when the vehicle is stationary and the clutch
pedal is fully depressed. ● Do not shift the shift lever without
depressing the clutch pedal.

■ Turn signals can be operated when
Vehicles without a smart key system
The engine switch is in the “ON” position.
Vehicles with a smart key system
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
■ If the indicators flash faster than usual
Check that a light bulb in the turn signal lights has not burne d out.The turn signal lever can be used to show the following intenti ons of
the driver:
Right turn
Left turn
Lane change to the right
(push and hold the lever
partway) The right hand signals will
flash until you release the
lever.
Lane change to the left
(push and hold the lever
partway) The left hand signals will flash
until you release the lever.

Parking brake
■ Usage in winter time

NOTICE■ Before driving
Fully release the parking brake.
Driving the vehicle with the parking brake set will lead to bra ke components
overheating, which may affect braking performance and increase brake
wear. To set the parking brake, fully pull the parking brake lever wh ile
depressing the brake pedal.
To release the parking brake, slightly raise the lever and lowe r it
completely while pressing the button. U.S.A. Canada

Make sure that the steering wheel is securely locked.
The horn may not sound if the steering wheel is not securely lo cked.
(  P. 67) To sound the horn, press on or
close to the mark.
