Tire Pressure Monitoring System(TPMS)

This vehicle isequipped withtheTire Pressure
Monitoring System(TPMS).It monitors tire
pressure ofall tires except thespare. When
the low tirepressure warninglightislit, and the
CHECK TIREPRES (pressure) warningmes-
sage isdisplayed inthe vehicle information
display ,one ormore ofyour tires issignificantly
under-inflated.
The TPMS willactivate onlywhen thevehicle is
driven atspeeds above16MPH (25km/h) .
Also, thissystem maynotdetect asudden drop
in tire pressure (forexample aflat tire while
driving) .

The tirepressures shouldbechecked
when thetires arecold. Thetires are
considered COLDafterthevehicle has
been parked for3or more hours, ordriven
less than 1mile (1.6km)atmoderate
speeds.
Incorrect tirepressure, includingun-
der inflation, mayadversely affecttire
life and vehicle handling.

The Gross Vehicle Weight rating
(GVWR) islocated onthe F.M .V.
S.S./C .M.V.S.S. certification la-
bel. The vehicle weightcapacity
is indicated onthe Tire and Loading
Information label.Do
not load yourvehicle beyond
this capacity. Overloading your
vehicle mayresult inreduced
tire life, unsafe operating condi-
tions duetopremature tirefail-
ure, orunfavorable handling
characteristic sand could also
lead toaserious accident. Load-
ing beyond thespecified capa-
city may also result infailure of
other vehicle components.

Checking thetire pressure

1. Remove thevalve stemcapfrom the
tire.
2.
Press thepressure gaugesquarely onto
the valve stem. Donot press toohard or
force thevalve stemsideways, orair will
escape. Ifthe hissing soundofair
escaping fromthetire isheard while
checking thepressure, reposition the
gauge toeliminate thisleakage.
3.
Remove thegauge.
4.
Read thetirepressure onthe gauge
stem andcompare itto the specifica- tion
shown onthe Tire andLoading
Information label.
5.
Add airtothe tireasneeded. Iftoo
much airisadded, pressthecore ofthe
valve stembriefly withthetipofthe
gauge stemtorelease pressure. Re-
check thepressure andadd orrelease
air asneeded.
6.
Install thevalve stemcap.
7.
Check thepressure ofall other tires,
including thespare.
