2. Tyre size designation
A tyre’s sidewall is marked with a tyre
size designation. You will need this
information when selecting replace-
ment tyres for your car. The following
explains what the letters and num-
bers in the tyre size designation
mean.
Example tyre size designation:
(These numbers are provided as an
example only; your tyre size designa-
tor could vary depending on your
vehicle.)215/70R16 100H
215 - Tyre width in millimeters.
70 - Aspect ratio. The tyre’s section
height as a percentage of its
width.
R - Tyre construction code (Radial).
16 - Rim diameter in inches.
100 - Load Index, a numerical code associated with the maximum
load the tyre can carry.
H - Speed Rating Symbol. See the speed rating chart in this section
for additional information.
Wheel size designation
Wheels are also marked with impor-
tant information that you need if you
ever have to replace one. The follow-
ing explains what the letters and
numbers in the wheel size designa-
tion mean.
Example wheel size designation:
6.5JX16
6.5 - Rim width in inches.
J - Rim contour designation.
16 - Rim diameter in inches.

Tyre speed ratings
The chart below lists many of the dif-
ferent speed ratings currently being
used for passenger car tyres. The
speed rating is part of the tyre size
designation on the sidewall of the
tyre. This symbol corresponds to that
tyre's designed maximum safe oper-
ating speed.
3. Checking tyre life (TIN : Tyre IdentificationNumber)
Any tyres that are over 6 years old,
based on the manufacturing date,
tyre strength and performance,
decline with age naturally (even
unused spare tyres). Therefore, the
tyres (including the spare tyre)
should be replaced by new ones. You
can find the manufacturing date on
the tyre sidewall (possibly on the
inside of the wheel), displaying the
DOT Code. The DOT Code is a
series of numbers on a tyre consist-
ing of numbers and English letters.
The manufacturing date is designat-
ed by the last four digits (characters)
of the DOT code.
DOT : XXXX XXXX OOOO
The front part of the DOT means a
plant code number, tyre size and
tread pattern and the last four num-
bers indicate week and year manu-
factured.
For example:
DOT XXXX XXXX 1618 represents
that the tyre was produced in the
16th week of 2018. Tyre age
Tyres degrade over time, even
when they are not being used.
Regardless of the remaining
tread, it is recommended that
tyres generally be replaced after
six (6) years of normal service.
Heat caused by hot climates or
frequent high loading conditions
can accelerate the aging process.
Failure to follow this Warning can
result in sudden tyre failure,
which could lead to a loss of con-
trol and an accident involving
serious injury or death.

4. Tyre ply composition andmaterial
The number of layers or plies of rub-
ber-coated fabric are in the tyre. Tyre
manufacturers also must indicate the
materials in the tyre, which include
steel, nylon, polyester, and others.
The letter "R" means radial ply con-
struction; the letter "D" means diago-
nal or bias ply construction; and the
letter "B" means belted-bias ply con-
struction.
5. Maximum permissible infla-tion pressure
This number is the greatest amount
of air pressure that should be put in
the tyre. Do not exceed the maximum
permissible inflation pressure. Refer
to the Tyre and Loading Information
label for recommended inflation
pressure.
6. Maximum load rating
This number indicates the maximum
load in kilograms and pounds that
can be carried by the tyre. When
replacing the tyres on the vehicle,
always use a tyre that has the same
load rating as the factory installed
tyre.
7. Uniform tyre quality grading
Quality grades can be found where
applicable on the tyre sidewall
between tread shoulder and maxi-
mum section width.

Tread wear
The tread wear grade is a compara-
tive rating based on the wear rate of
the tyre when tested under controlled
conditions on a specified govern-
ment test course. For example, a tyre
graded 150 would wear one-and-a-
half times (1½) as well on the gov-
ernment course as a tyre graded
100.
The relative performance of tyres
depends upon the actual conditions
of their use, however, and may
depart significantly from the norm
because of variations in driving
habits, service practices and differ-
ences in road characteristics and cli-
mate.
These grades are molded on the
side-walls of passenger vehicle
tyres. The tyres available as standard
or optional equipment on your vehi-
cles may vary with respect to grade.

Traction - AA, A, B & C
The traction grades, from highest to
lowest, are AA, A, B and C. Those
grades represent the tyres ability to
stop on wet pavement as measured
under controlled conditions on spec-
ified government test surfaces of
asphalt and concrete. A tyre marked
C may have poor traction perform-
ance.
Temperature -A, B & C
The temperature grades are A (the
highest), B and C representing the
tyre’s resistance to the generation of
heat and its ability to dissipate heat
when tested under controlled condi-
tions on a specified indoor laboratory
test wheel.
Sustained high temperature can
cause the material of the tyre to
degenerate and reduce tyre life, and
excessive temperature can lead to
sudden tyre failure. Grades B and A
represent higher levels of perform-
ance on the laboratory test wheel
than the minimum required by the
l aw.Tyre temperature
The temperature grade for this
tyre is established for a tyre that
is properly inflated and not
overloaded. Excessive speed,
underinflation, or excessive
loading, either separately or in
combination, can cause heat
build-up and possible sudden
tyre failure. This can cause loss
of vehicle control and serious
injury or death.WARNING
The traction grade assigned to
this tyre is based on straight-
ahead braking traction tests,
and does not include accelera-
tion, cornering, hydroplaning,
or peak traction characteristics.

Low aspect ratio tyre
(if equipped)
The low aspect ratio tyres, of which
aspect ratio is below 50, are equipped
with for the sporty look.
Riding with high aspect ratio tyres
may be uncomfortable with unpleas-
ant noises, because the low aspect
ratio tyres are optimized for handling
and breaking.The sidewall of the low aspect
ratio tyre is thinner than the high
aspect ratio tyre. Thus, the wheel
and the tyre may be easily dam-
aged. Thus, follow the below
instructions.
• Cautiously drive the vehicle on a
rough road or off the road.
Otherwise, the tyres and wheels
may be damaged. After driving
those areas, inspect the tyres
and wheels.
• Slowly drive the vehicle to pass over a pothole, speed bump, man-
hole, or kerb stone. Otherwise, the
tyres and wheels may be dam-
aged.
• Upon having an impact on the tyre, we recommend you to have
the tyres inspected by a
HYUNDAI authorised repairer.
• Inspect the tyres every 3,000 km to prevent damage • It is difficult to recognise tyre
damage only with eyes. However,
we recommend you to have the
tyre checked or replaced upon
detecting even the slightest tyre
damage. The tyre damage may
leak air from the tyre.
• Tyre damage, caused by driving on a rough road, pothole, man-
hole or kerb stone, or off the
road, is not covered by the man-
ufacturer’s warranty.
• For further information about the tyre, refer to the label on the
tyre sidewall.

FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is pro-
tected from electrical overload dam-
age by fuses.
This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels,
one located in the driver’s side panel
bolster, the other in the engine com-
partment near the battery.
If any of your vehicle’s lights, acces-
sories, or controls do not work, check
the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse
has blown, the element inside the
fuse will be melted.
If the electrical system does not work,
first check the driver’s side fuse
panel. Before replacing a blown fuse,
turn the engine and all switches off,
and then disconnect the negative bat-
tery cable. Always replace a blown
fuse with one of the same rating.
If the replacement fuse blows, this indi-
cates an electrical problem. Avoid
using the system involved and immedi-
ately consult a HYUNDAI authorised
repairer.Information
Four kinds of fuses are used : blade type
for lower amperage rating, cartridge
type/Multi fuse/Battery fuse terminal for
higher amperage ratings.

other metal object to remove fuses
because it may cause a short cir-
cuit and damage the system. • When replacing a blown fuse or
relay with a new one, make sure
the new fuse or relay fits tightly
into the clips. The incomplete
fastening fuse or relay may
cause the vehicle wiring and
electric systems damage and a
possible fire.
• Do not remove fuses, relays and terminals fastened with bolts or
nuts. The fuses, relays and ter-
minals may be fastened incom-
pletely, and it may cause a pos-
sible fire. If fuses, relays and ter-
minals fastened with bolts or
nuts are blown, we recommend
that you consult a HYUNDAI
authorised repairer.
• Do not input any other objects except fuses or relays into
fuse/relay terminals such as a
driver or wiring. It may cause
contact failure and system mal-
function.

cause damage and possibly a

•Never install a wire or alumini-
um foil instead of the proper

Inner panel fuse replacement
1. Turn the engine and all otherswitches off.
2. Open the fuse panel cover. 3. Pull the suspected fuse straight
out. Use the removal tool provided
in the engine compartment fuse
panel.
4. Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown.
5. Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly
in the clips.
If it fits loosely, we recommend that
you consult a HYUNDAI authorised
repairer.
Information
If you do not have a spare, use a fuse
of the same rating from a circuit you
may not need for operating the vehi-
cle, such as the cigar lighter fuse.
If the headlights or other electrical
components do not work and the
fuses are OK, check the fuse block in
the engine compartment. If a fuse is
blown, it must be replaced with the
same rating.
