6.CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Check fuse 50 (10A).
3. Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
4. Check the continuity between steering angle sens or harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.
5. Check the continuity between steeri ng angle sensor harness connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> Perform trouble diagnosis for ignition power supply.
NO >> Repair / replace harness, connector, or fuse.
7.CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Check the continuity between steeri ng angle sensor harness connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 8.
NO >> Repair / replace harness or connector.
8.CHECK ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIR-
CUIT Check the ABS actuator and electr ic unit (control unit) power supply and ground circuits. Refer to BRC-121,
"Diagnosis Procedure".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 9.
NO >> Repair / replace harness, connector, fuse, or fusible link.
9.CHECK TERMINAL
1. Check the steering angle sensor pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
2. Check the IPDM E/R pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 10.
NO >> Repair / replace harness, connector, or terminal.
10.CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION LINE
Check the CAN communication line. Refer to LAN-16, "
Trouble Diagnosis Flow Chart".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 11.
NO >> Repair / replace harness or connector.

1. Select “DATA MONITOR” of “ABS”, check “STR ANGLE SIG”.
2. Check that the indication changes with the steering angl e when the steering wheel is turned left/right from
the neutral position. Refer to BRC-36, "
Reference Value".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to BRC-144, "Removal and Instal-
lation".
NO >> Replace the steering angle sensor. Refer to BRC-147, "
Removal and Installation".

DTC DETECTION LOGIC
POSSIBLE CAUSE
NOTE:
Confirm if DTC is PAST or CRNT. If DTC is CRNT, proceed with Diagnosis Procedure. If DTC is PAST, clear
the DTC. Do not replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) for a PAST DTC.
DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
1.PRECONDITIONING
If “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE” has been previously conducted, always turn the ignition switch OFF
and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.
>> GO TO 2.
2.CHECK DTC DETECTION
With CONSULT
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF. NOTE:
Wait at least 10 seconds after turning ignition switch OFF.
2. Start the engine. NOTE:
Wait at least 10 seconds after starting the engine.
3. Perform “Self Diagnostic Result” of “ABS”.
Is DTC
“C1144” detected?
YES-1 >> “C1144” is displayed as “CRNT”: Proceed to BRC-103, "Diagnosis Procedure".
YES-2 >> “C1144” is displayed as “PAST”: Inspecti on End (Erase “Self Diagnostic Result” of “ABS”).
NO-1 >> To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to GI-42, "
Intermittent Incident".
NO-2 >> Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 4.
NO >> Repair / replace harness, connector, or terminal.
4.CHECK DATA MONITOR
With CONSULT
1. Select “DATA MONITOR” of “ABS”, check “STR ANGLE SIG”.
2. Check that the indication changes with the steering angl e when the steering wheel is turned left/right from
the neutral position. Refer to BRC-36, "
Reference Value".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to BRC-144, "Removal and Instal-

CAUTION:
• Never apply 7.0 V or more to the measurement terminal.
• Use a tester with open terminal voltage of 7.0 V or less.
• Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect th e battery cable from the negative terminal when
checking the harness.

CAUTION:
• Be careful not to damage front wheel
sensor edge and sensor rotor teeth.
• When removing the front wheel hub, first remove the front wheel sensor from the steering knuckle.
Failure to do so may result in damage to the fr ont wheel sensor, making the front wheel sensor inop-
erative.
• Pull out the front wheel sensor, bein g careful to turn it as little as possible. Do not pull on the front
wheel sensor harness.
• Before installation, check if foreign objects, such as iron fragments, are adhered to the pick-up part
of the front wheel sensor or to the inside of the hole in the steer ing knuckle for the front wheel sen-
sor, or if a foreign object is caught in the surface of the sensor rotor. Fix as necessary and then
install the front wheel sensor.
REMOVAL
1. Remove wheel and tire using power tool. Refer to WT-48, "Removal and Installation".
2. Remove fender protector. Refer to EXT-38, "
Removal and Installation".
3. Disconnect the harness connector fr om the front wheel sensor.
4. Remove bolt and front wheel sensor from steering knuckle.
5. Release front wheel sensor harness clips from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of the removal.

3. Remove ground harness bolt (A) and ground harness from radi- ator core support.
4. Disconnect high-pressure pipe from expansion valve. Refer to HA-28, "
Exploded View".
CAUTION:
Cap or wrap the joint of the A/C piping and expan sion valve with suitable material such as vinyl
tape to avoid the entry of air.
5. Remove low-pressure flexible hose. Refer to HA-28, "
LOW-PRESSURE FLEXIBLE HOSE : Removal and
Installation".
6. Loosen flare nut from brake tubes using a flare nut wrench, then remove brake tubes from ABS actuator
and electric unit (control unit). Refer to BR-22, "
FRONT : Exploded View".
7. Disconnect the harness connector from the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
8. Remove ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) bracket bolts.
9. Remove the ABS actuator and electric uni t (control unit) and bracket as an assembly.
10. Remove bracket and bushing from ABS ac tuator and electric unit (if necessary).
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
• Bleed the brake system. Refer to BR-13, "
Bleeding Brake System".
• Adjust the neutral position of steering angle sensor. Refer to BRC-55, "
ADJUSTMENT OF STEERING
ANGLE SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION : Special Repair Requirement".
CAUTION:
• Replace the ABS actuator electric unit (control unit) if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.
• Do not install actuator by holding harness.
• After installing harness connector in the ABS acu tator and electric until (control unit), make sure
harness connector is securely locked.
