Instrument panel illumination (if equipped)
The brightness of instrument panel
illumination can be adjusted bypressing the illumination control
switch ("upward" or "downward"),
after turning ON the ignition switch
and the tail lights.
While the switch is being pressed, its
illumination level keeps changing.
Gauges and indicators
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates the for-
ward speed of the vehicle.
The speedometer is calibrated in
kilometers per hour.
Never adjust the instrumentpanel illumination while driving. This could result in loss of con-
trol and lead to an accident that
may cause death, serious
injury, or property damage.

Information
The law regulates a speedometer
to display the information in a
smaller font than the navigation (ifequipped) does.
Tachometer
The tachometer indicates the
approximate number of engine revo-
lutions per minute (rpm). Use the tachometer to select the cor-
rect shift points and to prevent lug-
ging and/or over-revving the engine.
The tachometer pointer may move
slightly when the ignition switch is in
ACC or ON position with the engine
OFF. This movement is normal and
will not affect the accuracy of the
tachometer once the engine is run-ning.
i
In a speed-limit zone, such as
the Child Protection Zone, obey
the relevant speed limit (The
speed limit may differ in eachregion).
WARNING
Do not operate the engine with-
in the tachometer's RED ZONE.
This may cause severe engine
damage.

Engine temperature gauge
This gauge shows the temperature of the engine coolant when the igni-
tion switch is ON.
Fuel gauge
The fuel gauge indicates the approx-imate amount of fuel remaining in thefuel tank.
Do not continue driving with an
overheated engine. If your vehi-
cle overheats, refer to "If the
engine overheats" in section 6.
If the gauge pointer moves
beyond the normal range area
toward the red zone, it indicates
overheating that may damage
the engine.
CAUTION
Never remove the radiator cap
when the engine is hot. Theengine coolant is under pres-
sure and could cause severe
burns. Wait until the engine is
cool before adding coolant to
the reservoir.

Information
The fuel tank capacity is given in section 8.
The fuel gauge is supplemented by a low fuel warning light, which will
illuminate when the fuel tank is
nearly empty.
On inclines or curves, the fuel gauge pointer may fluctuate or the low fuel
warning light may come on earlier
than usual due to the movement of
fuel in the tank.i
Fuel vapors are dangerous.
Before refueling, always stop
the engine and never allowsparks or open flames near the
filler area. If you need to replace
the filler cap, we recommend
that you use parts for replace-
ment from an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer. If you open thefuel filler cap during high ambi-
ent temperatures, a slight “pres-
sure sound” may be heard. This
is normal and not a cause forconcern.
Whenever you open the fuel
filler cap, turn it slowly.
WARNING
Fuel gauge
Running out of fuel can expose
vehicle occupants to danger.
You must stop and obtain addi-
tional fuel as soon as possibleafter the warning light comes
on or when the gauge indicator
comes close to the O (Empty)
level.
WARNING
Avoid driving with a extremely
low fuel level. Running out offuel could cause the engine to
misfire damaging the catalytic
converter.
CAUTION
Be sure to fill with the speci- fied fuel.(Diesel)
Be sure to lock the fuel filler
cap with the key after fillingwith the specified fuel.

Odometer
The odometer Indicates the total dis-
tance that the vehicle has been driv-
en and should be used to determine
when periodic maintenance should
be performed.
- Odometer range : 0 ~ 1,999,999kilometers.
Outside temperature
This gauge indicates the current out-
side air temperatures by 1°C (1°F).
- Temperature range : -40°C ~ 60°C (-40°F ~ 140°F) The outside temperature on the dis-
play may not change immediately
like a general thermometer to pre-
vent the driver from being inattentive.
The temperature unit (from °C to °F
or from °F to °C) can be changed by
using the “User Settings” mode of the
LCD display. ❈

Gear shift indicator
This indicator informs current gear position and up-shift timing while
driving to save fuel.
Shifting down :1, , 2, , 3, , 4, , 5, ,6
For example : Indic ates that shifting up to the 3rd
gear is desired (currently the shift
lever is in the 2nd or 1st gear).
When the system is not working prop-
erly, the indicator is not displayed.
Clock indicator
This displays the time. This can beset either in the 12-hour unit or in the24-hour unit in the user mode of the
cluster. This clock can be reset, whenit is incorrect.
When the DTG is applied, the clock is operated by the DTG. When "-- :
--" illuminates, there is a telecom-
munication error.
When the DTG is not applied, the clock is operated by the clustersystem.
