2. Cover the end of a flat-tipped screwdriver with a shop towel and insert into the
notched section of the oil seal, and pry out the oil seal to remove it.

CAUTION: When removing valve spring retainer locks, leave the
piston of each cylinder in the TDC (Top Dead Center)
position. The valve may fall into the cylinder if the
piston is not properly in the TDC position.

2. Remove the drive shaft from the hub by pulling the bottom of the brake disc
towards
you.

C. Using Puller Shaft (MB990242), Puller Bar (MB990244), Puller Body
(MB991354), and End Yoke Holder (MB990767), push out the axle shaft
assembly and inner shaft assembly (if equipped) from the hub. Remove the
axle shaft from the hub buy pulling the bottom of the brake disc towards you.
Insert a pry bar between the transaxle case and the axle shaft, then pry and
remove the axle shaft from the transaxle. See Fig. 8
. If the inner shaft is hard
to remove from the transaxle, strike the bracket assembly lightly with a plastic
hammer and remove the inner shaft.
D. Use Slide Hammer (MB991721) to remove the output shaft. CAUTION: When pulling the output shaft out from the
transaxle, be careful that the splined part of the
output shaft does not damage the oil seal.

condition before measuring wheel alignment. TOE-IN Standard value: 0 +/- 3 mm (0 +/- 0.12 inch)
1. Adjust the toe-in by undoing the clip and jam nut, and turning the left and right
tie rod turnbuckles by the same amount (in opposite directions).

NOTE: The toe will move out as the left turnbuckle is turned
toward the front of the vehicle and the right turnbuckle
is turned toward the rear of the vehicle.

1. Remove the steering gear and steering column shaft connecting bolt.
2. Pinch the steering column shaft clip with pliers, and pull up the shaft towards
the direction shown in illustration to disengage the steering column shaft from
the steering gear.

NOTE: If the steering column shaft is removed accidentally,
remove the steering column assembly and be sure to
insert the steering column shaft into the steering
column as shown in the figure.
