Axle Housing

Installation is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to RAX-3, "COMPONENT" .
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.

Perform the final tightening of each parts, under unladen conditions, which were removed when removing
axle housing. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to RSU-5, "
Wheel Alignment Inspection" .

SUNROOF

WEATHERSTRIP OF GLASS LID
Removal
1. Remove glass lid. Refer to RF-25, "GLASS LID" .
2. Remove weatherstrip from glass lid.
CAUTION:
Do not pull junction portion of weatherstrip more than 100 N (10.5 kg, 22.5 lb).
Installation
Junction portion of weatherstrip is set with center of rear side, then install weatherstrip to glass lid.
CAUTION:

Do not pull junction portion of weatherstrip more than 100 N (10.5 kg, 22.5 lb).

Resin portion of glass lid is crack is not attached.
NOTE:
Check if weatherstrip has joined to resin portion of glass lid completely.
SUNSHADE
Removal
NOTE:
Removal of sunshade is possible to vehicle attach sunroof unit assembly.
1. Remove the headlining. Refer to RF-25, "
GLASS LID" .
2. Remove sunshade stopper.
3. The protection tape is pasted to the sunshade knob.
4. Pull sunshade out of the rear end of the sunroof frame, then
remove it from the sunroof frame.
CAUTION:
Do not damage the sunshade and sunshade knob while lift-
ing up a little.
Installation
Install in the reverse order of removal.
WIND DEFLECTOR
Removal
NOTE:
Removal of winddeflector is possible to vehicle attach sunroof unit assembly.
1. Open glass lid fully.

3. Remove guide plate.
4. Remove drain channel.
5. Rotate link of wire assembly, then push link or slider to backward of vehicle.
6. Remove link assembly and wire assembly from sunroof unit assembly.
CAUTION:
Do not disconnect link assembly and wire assembly.
Installation
Install in the reverse order of removal.

RSU-8
REAR SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL
1. Remove tires from vehicle.
2. Remove wheel sensor from axle housing, and then disconnect sensor harness from suspension arm and
suspension member. Refer to BRC-33, "
WHEEL SENSORS" .
CAUTION:
Do not pull on wheel sensor harness.
3. Remove torque member fixing bolts. Hang torque member in a place where it will not interfere with work.
Refer to BR-33, "
REAR DISC BRAKE" .
NOTE:
Do not depress brake pedal while brake caliper is removed.
4. Remove main muffler and center muffler. Refer to EX-2, "
EXHAUST SYSTEM" .
5. Remove parking brake cable (rear cables) from rear suspension member and body. Refer to PB-3,
"PARKING BRAKE CONTROL" .
6. Remove coil spring. Refer to RSU-15, "
REAR LOWER LINK & COIL SPRING" .
7. Remove the mounting nuts on the upper side of shock absorber assembly. Refer to RSU-9, "
SHOCK
ABSORBER" .
8. Set jack under rear suspension member.
9. Remove rear suspension member mounting nuts, and then remove rebound stopper.
10. Gradually lower jack to remove rear suspension assembly.
INSTALLATION

Installation is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to RSU-7, "Component" .
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.

Perform final tightening of each parts under unladen conditions, which were removed when removing rear
suspension assembly. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to RSU-5, "
Wheel Alignment Inspection" .

Adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor after checking the wheel alignment for models with VDC.
Refer to BRC-40, "
Adjustment of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position" .

Check for the following after finishing work.
–Parking brake operation (stroke): Refer to PB-2, "On-Vehicle Inspection" .
–Wheel sensor harness for proper connection: Refer to BRC-33, "WHEEL SENSORS" .

REMOVAL
1. Remove tires from vehicle.
2. Set a jack under rear lower link to relieve the coil spring tension.
3. Remove shock absorber lower end bolt.
4. Gradually lower the jack to remove it from rear lower link.
5. Remove shock absorber assembly upper end nuts, and then
remove shock absorber assembly from vehicle.
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL

Check shock absorber assembly for deformation, cracks, and other damage. Replace if there are.

Check for oil leakage. Replace if there are.

Check seals of mounting seal bracket for cracks, deformation,
and peeling. Replace mounting seal bracket as an assembly, if
there are.
INSTALLATION

Installation is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to RSU-7, "Component" .
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.

Perform final tightening of shock absorber lower bolt (rubber bushing) under unladen conditions, with tires
on level ground if removing suspension. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to RSU-5, "
Wheel Alignment
Inspection" .

Adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor after checking the wheel alignment for models with VDC.
Refer to BRC-40, "
Adjustment of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position" .

SHOCK ABSORBER

DISASSEMBLY
CAUTION:
Do not damage shock absorber piston rod when removing components from shock absorber assem-
bly.
1. Wrap a shop cloth on the bottom of shock absorber, and then secure shock absorber in a vise.
CAUTION:
Do not secure the cylindrical part of shock absorber in the vise.
2. Remove piston rod lock nut while securing end of piston rod so
as not to rotate piston rod.
3. Remove outer washer, bushing (upper), distance tube, mounting
seal bracket, bushing (lower), bound bumper cover, and bound
bumper from shock absorber.
INSPECTION AFTER DISASSEMBLY
Bound Bumper and Bushing
Check bound bumper cover and bushing for cracks and damage. Replace if there are.
Shock Absorber

Check shock absorber for deformation, cracks, and other damage. Replace if there are.

Check piston rod for damage, uneven wear, and distortion. Replace if there are.
ASSEMBLY
Assembly is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to RSU-7, "Component" for tighten-
ing torque.
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.

SUSPENSION ARM

Rotating Torque Inspection

Install the nut to the ball stud, and make sure that rotating torque
is within the standard using the preload gauge [SST].

Replace suspension arm if value is outside the standard.
Axial End Play Inspection

Move tip of ball joint in the axial direction to check for looseness.

Replace suspension arm if value is outside the standard.
INSTALLATION

Installation is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to RSU-7, "Component" .
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.

When installing connecting rod mounting bracket, be careful with the installation direction.

Perform final tightening of each of parts, under unladen conditions, which were removed when removing
suspension arm. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to RSU-5, "
Wheel Alignment Inspection" .

Check wheel sensor harness for proper connection. Refer to BRC-33, "WHEEL SENSORS" . Rotating torque:
0.5 - 3.4 N·m (0.06 - 0.34 kg-m, 5 - 30 in-lb)

REMOVAL
1. Remove tires from vehicle.
2. Remove wheel sensor from axle housing, and then disconnect sensor harness from suspension arm.

3. Remove coil spring. Refer to RSU-15, "
REAR LOWER LINK & COIL SPRING" .
4. Remove fixing bolt and nut in axle housing side of radius rod.
5. Remove fixing bolt in axle housing side of shock absorber
assembly. Refer to RSU-9, "
SHOCK ABSORBER" .
6. Remove fixing bolt and nut in axle housing side of front lower
link. Refer to RSU-14, "
FRONT LOWER LINK" .
7. Remove mounting bolt in the rear suspension member side of
radius rod, and then remove radius rod from vehicle.
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
Check radius rod and bushing for deformation, cracks, and other damage. Replace radius rod if necessary.
INSTALLATION

Installation is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to RSU-7, "Component" .
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.

Perform the final tightening of each of parts, under unladen conditions, which were removed when remov-
ing radius rod and front lower link. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to RSU-5, "
Wheel Alignment Inspec-
tion" .

Check wheel sensor harness for proper connection. Refer to BRC-33, "WHEEL SENSORS" .
