1995 TOYOTA SUPRA oil level

VALVE BODY REMOVAL
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
INSTALLATION HINT: After installation, fill A/T fluid and
check fluid level. (See page AT1±42)
1. RAISE VEHICLE AND CLEAN TRANSMISSION
EXTERIOR
To prevent contamination, clean the exterior of the transmis-
sion.
2. DRAIN TRANSMISSION
Remove the drain plug and drain fluid into a suitable contain-
er.
Torque: 20 NVm (205 kgfVcm, 15 ftVlbf)
3. REMOVE OIL PAN
REMOVAL NOTICE: Some fluid will remain in the oil pan.
(a) Remove the 19 bolts.
Torque: 7.4 NVm (75 kgfVcm, 65 in.Vlbf)
(b) Install the blade of SST between the transmission case and
oil pan, cut off applied sealer and then remove the oil pan.

REMOVAL NOTICE: When removing the oil pan, be care-
ful not to damage the oil pan flange.
INSTALLATION HINT:
w Remove any packing material and be careful not to drop
oil on the contacting surfaces of the oil pan and
transmission case.
w Clean contacting surfaces of any residual packing
material using gasoline or alcohol.
w Apply FIPG to the oil pan.
FIPG:
Part No. 08826±00090, THREE BOND 1281 or equivalent
w Install the oil pan within 10 minutes after applying FIPG. AT1±16

2. REMOVE VALVE BODY
(See page AT1±16)
3. PUSH THROTTLE CABLE OUT OF TRANSMISSION
CASE
Remove the retaining bolt and pull out the throttle cable.
4. INSTALL THROTTLE CABLE
Install the retaining bolt and push in the throttle cable.
5. INSTALL VALVE BODY
(See page AT1±16)
6. IF THROTTLE CABLE IS NEW, STAKE STOPPER ON
INNER CABLE
(a) Pull in the slack of the inner cable.
(b) Stake the stopper, as shown, 0±1 mm (0±0.04 in.) from the
end of outer cable.
OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT
1. RAISE VEHICLE AND POSITION PAN TO CATCH ANY
FLUID THAT MAY DRIP
2. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT TOGETHER WITH
CENTER BEARING
3. REMOVE REAR OIL SEAL
NOTICE: Clean the extension housing before removing
the oil seal.
Using SST, remove the oil seal.

4. INSTALL NEW OIL SEAL
Using SST and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal as far as it
will go.

5. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT
6. LOWER VEHICLE AND CHECK FLUID LEVEL
(See page AT1±42)
Add fluid as necessary.
NOTICE: Do not overfill.

PRELIMINARY CHECK
1. CHECK FLUID LEVEL
HINT:
wDrive the vehicle so that the engine and transmission
are at normal operating temp..
Fluid temp. 70±80 °C (158±176 °F)
wOnly use the COOL range on the dipstick as a rough
reference when the fluid is replaced or the engine does
not run.
(a) Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
(b) With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, shift
the shift lever into all positions from P to L position and return
to P position.
(c) Pull out the transmission dipstick and wipe it clean.
(d) Push it back fully into the pipe.
(e) Pull it out and check that the fluid level is in the HOT range.
If the level is at the low side, add fluid.
Fluid type:
DEXRON[ II
NOTICE: Do not overfill.
2. CHECK FLUID CONDITION
If the fluid smells burnt or is black, replace it.
3. REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLUID
(a) Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid.
(b) Reinstall the drain plug securely.
(c) With the engine OFF, add new fluid through the oil filler pipe.
Fluid type:
DEXRON[ II
Capacity:
Dry fill: 7.2 liters (7.6 US qts, 6.3 Imp. qts)
Drain and refill: 1.6 liters (1.7 US qts, 1.4 Imp. qts)
(d) Start the engine and shift the shift lever into all positions from
P to L position and then shift into P position.
(e) With the engine idling, check the fluid level. Add fluid up to the
COOL level on the dipstick.
(f) Check the fluid level at the normal operating temperature
70±80 5C (158±176 5F) and add as necessary.
NOTICE: Do not overfill.
4. CHECK FLUID LEAKS
Check for leaks in the transmission.
If there are leaks, it is necessary to repair or replace O±rings,
seal packings, oil seals, plugs or other parts. AT1±42

2. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE
(See page AT2±22)
3. REMOVE OIL PAN
(a) Remove the 19 bolts.
Torque: 7.4 NVm (75 kgfVcm, 85 in.Vlbf)
(b) Install the blade of SST between the transmission case and
oil pan, cut off applied sealer.

REMOVAL NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the oil pan
flange.
4. EXAMINE PARTICLES IN PAN
Remove the magnets and use them to collect steel particles.
Carefully look at the foreign matter and particles in the pan
and on the magnets to anticipate the type of wear you will find
in the transmission:
Steel (magnetic)
bearing, gear and clutch plate wear
Brass (non±magnetic)
bushing wear
INSTALLATION HINT:
wInstall the 3 magnets in the indentations of the oil pan,
as shown in the illustration.
wRemove any packing material and be careful not to drop
oil on the contacting surfaces of the transmission case
and oil pan.
wApply FIPG to the oil pan, as shown in the illustration.

PRELIMINARY CHECK
1. CHECK FLUID LEVEL
HINT:
wDrive the vehicle so that the engine and transmission
are at normal operating temperature.
Fluid temp.: 70±805C (158±1765F)
wOnly use the COOL position on the dipstick as a rough
reference when the fluid is replaced or the engine does
not run.
(a) Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
(b) With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, shift
the shift lever into all positions from P to L position and return
to P position.
(c) Pull out the oil level gauge and wipe it clean.
(d) Push it back fully into the pipe.
(e) Pull it out and check that the fluid level is in the HOT position.
If the level is at the low side, add fluid.
Fluid type:
ATF TYPE T±II or Equivalent
NOTICE: Do not overfill
2. CHECK FLUID CONDITION
If the fluid smells burnt or is black, replace it.
3. REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLUID
(a) Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid.
(b) Reinstall the drain plug securely.
(c) With the engine OFF, add new fluid through the oil filler pipe.

ATF TYPE T±II or Equivalent
Capacity:
Dry fill: 8.2 liters (8.7 US qts, 7.2 Imp. qts)
Drain and refill: 1.9 liters (2.0 US qts, 1.6 Imp. qts)
(d) Start the engine and shift the shift lever into all positions from
P to L position and then shift into P position.
(e) With the engine idling, check the fluid level. Add fluid up to the
COOL level on the dipstick.
(f) Check the fluid level at the normal operating temperature
70±805C (158±1765F) and add as necessary.
NOTICE: Do not overfill.
4. CHECK FLUID LEAKS
Check for leaks in the transmission.
If there are leaks, it is necessary to repair or replace O ±rings,
seal packings, oil seals, plugs or other parts. AT2±42

LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT SWITCH
(a) Check that there is continuity between terminal and ground
with the engine stopped.
(b) Check that there is no continuity between terminal and
ground with the engine running.
HINT: Oil pressure should be over 29 kPa (0.3 kgf/ cm
2, 4.3
psi)
If operation is not as specified, replace the switch.
2. INSPECT WARNING LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the connector from the warning switch and
ground terminal on the wire harness side connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON, check that the warning light lights
up.
If the warning light does not light up, test the bulb or inspect
wire harness.
ENGINE OIL LEVEL WARNING
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT SWITCH
(a) Check that there is continuity between terminal with the
switch in each position.
(b) Heat the switch to above 60°C (140°F) in an oil bath.
(c) Check that there is continuity between terminals with the
switch ON (float up).
(d) Check that there is no continuity between terminals with the
switch OFF (float down).
If operation is not as specified, replace the switch.
2. INSPECT WARNING LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the connector from the switch.
(b) Ground terminal 1 on the wire harness connector.
(c) Turn the ignition switch ON. Check that the warning light
lights up approximately 40 seconds later.
If the warning light does not light up, inspect bulb or wire har-
ness.
