• Apply ATF toboth parts.

5. Install returnsprings onpiston.
6. Install spring retainer onreturn springs.

13. Measure clearance betweenforwardclutchretaining plate•
and snap ring.
If not within allowable limit,select proper retaining plate.

Specified clearance:
Standard 0.45-0.85 mm(0.0177 -0.0335 in)
Allowable limit1.85mm(0.0728 in)
Forward clutchretaining plate:
Refer toSOS, AT-1G8.

14. Check operation offorward clutch.
Refer to"DISASSEMBLY" in"Forward ClutchandOverrun
Clutch", AT-102.
