Press on the rear part of fuel Nller Oap 1. 
Turn the fuel Nller cap anti-cloc kwise and
remove it. 
Insert fuel Nller cap fr
om above into bracket

Completely insert the pump nozzle into the
t
ank Nller neck, hook in place and refuel. 
Only Nll t
he fuel tank until the pump nozzle
switches oM.
% Vehicles with diesel engine: The t
ank Nller
neck is designed for refuelling at diesel Nlling
pumps.
Your vehicle is equipped with an incorrect fuel
protection system to prevent Nlling up with
the wrong fuel. This function may be deactiva-
ted in some countries due to local circum-
stances. For more information, consult a
Mercedes-Benz service centre.
% Vehicles with a diesel engine: R
efuel with at
least 5 litres of diesel if the fuel tank has been
run dry completely.
% Vehicles with a diesel engine: Use a Nller nec
k
with a large diameter for vehicles with a diesel
engine when topping up fuel from a fuel can.
Otherwise, the Nller neck cannot be pushed
into the tank shas. Your vehicle is equipped with an incorrect fuel
pr

otection system to prevent Nlling up with
the wrong fuel. This function may be deactiva-
ted in some countries due to local circum-
stances. For more information, consult a
Mercedes-Benz service centre. 
Replace the cap on the Nller nec
k and turn
clockwise until it engages audibly.

AdBlue n
is a water-soluble Ouid for the NOx
exhaust gas asertreatment of diesel engines. In
order for the exhaust gas asertreatment to func-
tion properly, only use AdBlue n
in accordance
with ISO 22241.
AdBlue n
is characterised by the following:
= non-toxic
= colourless and odourless
= non-Oammable 174

If you open the AdBlue

t ank, small amounts of
ammonia vapour may be released. Only Nll the
AdBlue n
tank in well-ventilated areas.
Do not let AdBlue n
come into contact with skin,
eyes or clothes. Keep AdBlue n
away from chil-
dren.
Do not ingest AdBlue n
. If AdBlue n
is swallowed,
immediately rinse your mouth out thoroughly.
Drink plenty of water. Seek medical attention at
once.
Observe the notes on operating Ouids
(  page 362).

a Nlling pump. If no AdBlue n
Nlling pump is availa-
ble, you can also top up AdBlue n
using a canister.

Screw the disposable hose 3 ont
o the open-
ing of AdBlue n
reNll canister 4 until hand-
tight. 
Screw the disposable hose 3 ont
o the Nller
neck of the vehicle until hand-tight.

The Nlling process stops when the AdBlue n
tank is completely full.

reNll canister 4 can be removed
when it has been only partially emptied. 
Unscrew and close the disposable hose 3
and A

reNll canister 4 in reverse
order.

Nller cap 2 and tur

clockwise until it audibly engages. 
Close fuel Nller Oap 1. 
Switch on the vehicle for at least 60 seconds.
% If the vehicle could not be started as the

tank was empty, it can take up to
60 seconds for the reNll to be detected. 
Start the vehicle.

If the vehicle is not securely parked suP-
cientl
y, it can roll away in an uncontrolled way
even at a slight downhill gradient. 
On uphill or downhill gradients, turn the
fr

ont wheels so that the vehicle rolls
towards the kerb if it starts moving.

Bring the vehicle to a standstill by depressing

he brake pedal. 
On gradients, turn the front wheels so that the

ehicle will roll towards the kerb if it starts
moving. 
Apply the electric parking brake. 
Engage transmission position j in a s

ary vehicle with the brake pedal depressed
( page 167). 
Switch oM t
he vehicle by pressing button 1. 
Release the service brake slowly. 
Get out of the vehicle and lock it.
% When you park the vehicle, you can still oper-

e the side windows and the sliding sunroof
for approximately four minutes if the driver's

To prevent application: pull the handle of the
electr
ic parking brake ( page 180).
In the following situations, the electric parking
br
ake is also applied:
= The HOLD function is keeping the vehicle sta-
tionary.
= Active Parking Assist is keeping the vehicle
stationary.
= Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is bringing
the vehicle to a standstill.
= In addition, one of the following conditions
must be fulNlled:
- The vehicle is switched oM.
- The seat belt tongue is not inserted in the
seat belt buckle of the driver's seat and
the driver's door is opened.
- There is a system malfunction.
- The power supply is insuPcient.
- The vehicle is stationary for a lengthy
period. When the electric parking brake is applied, the

If you leave the vehicle parked up for longer than

eeks, it may suMer damage through disuse.
The 12 V battery may also be impaired or dam-
aged by heavy discharging.

This function is not available for all models.
If standby mode is activated, energy loss will be
minimised dur
ing extended periods of non-opera-
tion. Standby mode is characterised by the following:
= The s

tarter battery is preserved.
= The maximum non-operational time appears in
the media display.
= The connection to online services is interrup-
ted.
= The ATA (anti-thes alarm system) is not availa-
ble.
= The interior protection and tow-away protec-
tion functions are not available.
= The function for detecting collisions on a
parked vehicle is not available.
If the following conditions are fulNlled, standby
mode can be activated or deactivated using the
multimedia system:
= The vehicle is switched on.
= The vehicle has not been started.
Exceeding the vehicle's displayed non-operational
time may cause inconvenience; i.e. it cannot be
guaranteed that the starter battery will reliably
start the vehicle. Charge the starter battery in the following situa-
tions:
= The v
ehicle's non-operational time must be
extended.
= The Battery charge insufficient for standby
mode message appears in the media display.
% Standby mode is automatically deactivated
when t
he vehicle is switched on.
