The Digital Owner's Manual describes the func- tions and operation of the vehicle and the multi-media system.Select one of the following menu items in the
Digital Owner's Manual:
= Quick start : Nnd the Nrst steps towards set-
ting up your vehicle.

certain everyday situations with your vehicle.
= Animations : watch animations of the vehicle
functions.
= Messages : receive additional information
about the messages in the driver display.

Protection of the environment+ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE Environmental
damage due to operating conditions and
personal driving style
The pollutant emission of the vehicle is
directly related to the way you operate the vehicle.
Operate your vehicle in an environmentally
responsible manner to help protect the envi- ronment. Please observe the following recom-
mendations on operating conditions and per-
sonal driving style.
Operating conditions:
Make sure that the tyre pressure is cor-
rect.Do not carry any unnecessary weight
(e.g. roof luggage racks once you no lon-
ger need them).Adhere to the service intervals. A regularly serviced vehicle will contrib-
ute to environmental protection.Always have maintenance work carried
out at a qualiNed specialist workshop.
Personal driving style:
Do not depress the accelerator pedal
when starting the engine.Do not warm up the engine while the
vehicle is stationary.Drive carefully and maintain a suitable
distance from the vehicle in front.Avoid frequent, sudden acceleration and braking.Change gear in good time and use each
gear only up to 00C3 of its maximum
engine speed.Switch oM the engine in stationary traf-
Nc, e.g. by using the ECO start/stop
function.Drive in a fuel-ePcient manner. Observe
the ECO display for an economical driv-
ing style.Take-back of end-of-life vehicles
EU countries only:
Mercedes-Benz will take back your end-of-life
vehicle for environment-friendly disposal in
accordance with the European Union (EU) End-of- Life Vehicles Directive.
A network of vehicle take-back points and dis-
mantlers has been established for you to return your vehicle. You can leave it at any of thesepoints free of charge. This makes an important
contribution to closing the recycling circle and conserving resources.

tioned components and parts with the same quality as new parts. The same entitlement
from the implied warranty is valid as for new
parts.

installing accessory parts or from repairs
or welding
Airbags and seat belt tensioners, as well as
control units and sensors for the restraint sys-
tems, may be installed in the following areas
of your vehicle:
= Doors
=
Door pillars
= Door sills
= Seats
= Cockpit
= Instrument cluster
= Centre console
= Lateral roof frameDo not install accessory parts such as
audio systems in these areas.Do not carry out repairs or welding.Have accessory parts retroNtted at a
qualiNed specialist workshop.
You could jeopardise the operating safety of your
vehicle if you use parts, tyres and wheels as well
as accessories relevant to safety which have not
been approved by Mercedes-Benz. Safety-relevant
systems, e.g. the brake system, may malfunction.
Only use Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts or parts of
equal quality. Only use tyres, wheels and acces-
sory parts that have been speciNcally approved
for your vehicle model.
Mercedes-Benz tests original parts and conver-
sion parts and accessory parts that have been
speciNcally approved for your vehicle model for
their reliability, safety and suitability. Despite
ongoing market research, Mercedes-Benz is
unable to assess other parts. Mercedes-Benz therefore accepts no responsibility for the use of
such parts in Mercedes-Benz vehicles, even if they have been oPcially approved or independ-
ently approved by a testing centre.
Certain parts are only oPcially approved for
installation or modiNcation if they comply with
legal requirements. All Mercedes-Benz Genuine-
Parts meet the approval requirements. The use of
non-approved parts may invalidate the vehicle's
general operating permit.
This is the case in the following situations: = The vehicle type is diMerent from that for
which the vehicle's general operating permit
was granted.
= Other road users could be endangered.
= The exhaust gas or noise level gets worse.18General notes

Owner's Manual
This Owner's Manual describes all models and all
standard and optional equipment available for your vehicle at the time of this Owner's Manualgoing to press. Country-speciNc diMerences are
possible. Note that your vehicle may not be Ntted
with all features described. This is also the case for systems and functions relevant to safety.
Therefore, the equipment on your vehicle may dif- fer from that in the descriptions and illustrations.
The original purchase agreement for your vehicle contains a list of all of the systems in your vehicle.
Should you have any questions concerning equip-
ment and operation, please consult a Mercedes- Benz Service Centre.
The Owner's Manual and Service Booklet are
important documents and should be kept in the vehicle.
Touch-sensitive controls
In addition to conventional switches and buttons,
your vehicle is equipped with touch-sensitive con- trols.
These are located in the following areas of your
vehicle:
= Roof and door control panel
= Climate control
= Steering wheel
= MBUX multimedia system
The controls have touch-sensitive user interface surfaces. The surfaces are controlled by pressing
or swiping to adjust settings or to trigger func-
tions, for example.
When handling touch-sensitive user interface sur-
faces, observe the following points to avoid prob-
lems operating:
= Do not aPx stickers or similar objects on the
surfaces
= Keep the surfaces protected from moisture
and wet conditions
= Keep the surfaces free of dust and dirtSome touch-sensitive control elements have a
symbol and integrated indicator lamps. Whenoperating, make sure to press on the symbol of
the control element.
Operating safety
&WARNING Risk of injury due to malfunc-
tions or system failure
In order to avoid malfunctions or system fail- ures:
Always have the speciNed service/main-
tenance work as well as any necessary
repairs carried out at a qualiNed special-
ist workshop.&WARNING Risk of accident or injury due
to improper modiNcations to electronic
components
ModiNcations to electronic components, their
sosware or wiring can impair their functional-
ity and/or the functionality of other networked components or safety-relevant systems.
General notes19

This can endanger the vehicle's operating
safety.You must not tamper with wiring, elec-
tronic components, or their sosware.Always have work on electrical and elec-
tronic devices carried out at a qualiNed
specialist workshop.If you modify the on-board electronics, the gen- eral operating permit is rendered invalid.
Observe the "On-board electronics" section in
"Technical data".&WARNING Risk of Nre due to Oammable
materials on hot parts of the exhaust sys- tem
Flammable material such as leaves, grass or
twigs may ignite if they come into contact with
hot parts of the exhaust system.
When driving on unpaved roads or oM-
road, regularly check the vehicle under-
side.Remove trapped plants or other Oamma-
ble material, in particular.If there is damage, consult a qualiNed
specialist workshop immediately.*NOTE Damage to the vehicle due to driv-
ing too fast and due to impacts to the
vehicle underbody or suspension compo-
nents
In the following situations, in particular, there
is a risk of damage to the vehicle:
= the vehicle becomes grounded, e.g. on a
high kerb or an unpaved road
= the vehicle is driven too fast over an obsta-
cle, e.g. a kerb, speed bump or pothole
= a heavy object strikes the underbody or
suspension components
In situations such as these, damage to the
body, underbody, suspension components,
wheels or tyres may not be visible. Compo-
nents damaged in this way can unexpectedly
fail or, in the case of an accident, may no lon-
ger absorb the resulting force as intended.
If the underbody panelling is damaged, Oam-
mable materials such as leaves, grass or twigs
can collect between the underbody and the underbody panelling. These materials may
ignite if they come into contact with hot parts
of the exhaust system.Have the vehicle checked and repaired
immediately at a qualiNed specialist
workshop.

If driving safety is impaired while con-
tinuing your journey, pull over and stop
the vehicle immediately, while paying
attention to road and traPc conditions,
and contact a qualiNed specialist work-

Vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical system(EQ Boost technology)&DANGER Risk of fatal injury by touching
damaged high-voltage components
Vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical sys- tem contain individual high-voltage compo-
nents. These high-voltage components are
under high voltage.
If you modify component parts of these high-voltage components or touch damaged com-
ponent parts, you may be electrocuted.
High voltage components may be damaged in
an accident, although the damage may not be
visible.
Never perform modiNcations to compo-
nent parts of high-voltage components.Never touch damaged component parts
of high-voltage components.Never touch component parts of high-
voltage components aser an accident.Vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical system
contain high voltage components. These compo-
nents are marked with a high voltage label:
All work on high voltage components must be car-
ried out at a qualiNed specialist workshop.

Electromagnetic compatibility
The electromagnetic compatibility of the vehicle
components has been checked and certiNed
according to the currently valid version of Regula- tion UN R10.

systems and communication devices integrated in

ensure that all wireless components installed in
