The brightness of the illumination for the instru­
ments, display and head-up display* can be ad­
justed .

The instrument illum ination for the needles
and dials turns on when the ign ition is turned
o n and the lights are tu rned off . The illum ina­
tion for the gauges red uces automatically and

cre ases. T hi s f unct ion remind s the dr ive r to
t urn the low beams on at the app ro priate
time.

Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when back ing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger's exterior mirror.
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by turn­
ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition off .
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (aspheric or convex*)
enlarge the field of vision. However, they
make objects in the mirror appear smaller
and farther away . You may estimate incor­
rectly when you use these mirrors to gauge
your distance from the vehicles behind you
when changing lanes, which increases the risk
of an accident.
(D Note
- If the mirror housing was moved by outs ide
forces (such as an impact when maneuver­
in g), you must use the power folding func­
tion to fold the mirror all the way out. The
mirror housing must not be moved back in-
to place by hand because this would impair
the function of the m irror mechanism.
-If you wash the vehicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exterior mirrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors.

Never fold power fold ing exterior mirrors by
hand . Only fold them in and out using the
power controls.
(D Tips
-If the power adjusting function malfunc­
tions, the glass in both mirrors can be ad­
justed by pressing on the edge of it by hand.
-The exterior mirror settings are stored with

Dimming the mirror

.. To dim the interior rearview mirror and both ex­
terior mirrors*, press the button @. The LED @
turns on. The interior rearview mirror and exte­
rior mirrors* dim automatically when light
shines on them, for example from headlights
on a vehicle behind you.
A WARNING
Electrolyte fluid can leak out from broken
mirror glass. This liquid can irritate the skin,
eyes and respiratory system. If there is con­
tact with the fluid, flush immediately with
p lenty of water . Consult a physician if neces­
sary.
-
-Repeated or long-term exposure to electro­
lyte fluid can lead to irritation of the air­
ways, especially in people with asthma or
other respiratory conditions. Take deep
breaths immediately after leaving the vehi­
cle or, if this is not possible, open all of the
doors and w indows as wide as possible.
-If electrolyte fluid enters the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with a large amount of

seek medical attention.
- If electrolyte flu .id comes into contact with
the skin, flush the affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minutes and then clean
with soap and water and seek medical at­
tention. Clean affected clothing and shoes
thoroughly before wearing again .
- If the fluid was swallowed and the person is
conscious, flush the mouth with water for at
least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting
unless this is recommended by medical pro­
fessionals . Seek medical attention immedi­
ately.
(D Note
The electrolyte fluid that leaks out of broken mirror glass corrodes plastic surfaces and the
paint. Clean this liquid as quickly as possible,
for example with a wet sponge .
(D Tips
-If the light reaching the interior rearview
mirror is obstructed (for example by the
sunshade*), the automatic dimming rear­
view mirror will not function correctly.
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the interior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is selected.

Retracting the rear door sunshades*
~ To re tract the sunshade from the driver's seat,
press the left/right rear power window switch
~ in the driver's door.
~ To retract the sunshade from the rear of the
vehicle,
press the power window switch Q;;; in
the left/right rear door.
You can adjust the settings for the rear sunshade
so the shade retracts automatically when you se­
lect the reverse gear. Select:
CAR function button
> Car systems control button > Vehicle settings
> Automatic rear blind > On. The settings are au ­
tomatically stored and assigned to the remote
control key. T he sunshade is extended again as
soon as the vehicle is traveling forward at a speed
greater than 9 mph (15 km/h) if the ignition has
not been switched off in the meantime .
&_ WARNING
Always pay careful attention when closing the
sunshades. Pinching could cause serious inju­
ries.
@ Tips
- Pressing the l~•~l button several times in a
r ow can trigger the overload protection. The
sunshade can on ly be extended/retracted
again after a brief waiting period.
- The rear window sunshade only functions
when the vehicle interior is warmer than
14°F (-10°().

Move the windshield w iper lever to the corre­
sponding posit ion:
@ -Windshield wipers off
G)-Rain sensor mode. The windshield wipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds approx­
imately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining. The
higher the sensitivity of the rain sensor that is set
(switch @to the right), the earlier the wind­
shield wipers react to mo isture on the wind­
shield. You can deact ivate the rain sensor mode
i n the Infotainment system, which sw itches the
i ntermittent mode on. Se lect:

> Rain sensor> Off. In intermittent mode,
you can adjust the interval time using the switch

@ -Slow wiping
@ -Fast w iping
@ -Single wipe. If you hold the lever in this posi­
tion longer, the wipers switch from slow wiping
to fast wiping.
®-Clean the windshield. The wipers wipe one
time after several seconds of driving to remove
water droplets. You can sw itch this function off
by moving the lever to posit ion ® within
10 sec­
onds of the afterwipe . The afterwipe function is

on.
C lea n the head lights. The headlight washer sys ­
tem operates only when the low beam headlights
are switched on . If you move the lever to position
@ , the headlights and the night vision assist
camera* are cleaned at intervals .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
dr iver. The driver may still be responsible
for manually sw itching the w ipers on based
on v is ib il ity conditions.
-The w indshie ld may not be treated with wa­
ter-repell ing windsh ield coating agents . U n­
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark­ ness, and whe n the s un is low, can cause in­
cr eased g la re, which in cre ases the risk of a n
acc iden t. W iper blade ch atter is also poss i­
ble.

-If there is frost, make s ure t he windsh ie ld
wiper b la d es are not frozen to the wind ­
s h ield. Switching on the windshield wipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind­ s h ield can damage the wiper blades.
-Prior to using a car was h, the windshield
wiper system must be switched off (lever in
pos ition @). This prevents the wipers from
switching on un intent ionally and causing
damage to the w indshie ld w iper system .
(D Tips
-The windshield wipe rs switch off when the
i gnition is sw itched off. You can act ivate the
winds hield wipers after the ig nition is
switched back on by moving the winds hield
wiper leve r to any pos it ion .
-Worn or dirty w indshield wiper blades result
i n streak ing . This can affec t the ra in se nsor
f u nct ion . Check yo ur windsh ield wipe r
b lades regu lar ly.
Light s and Vision
-The washer fluid no zz les for the windshield
washer system are heated at low tempera­
tures when the ign ition is on .
-When stopping temporari ly, such as at a
traffic light, the speed of the windshield
w ipers automatica lly reduces by one level.
Cleaning the wiper blades
Clean the wiper b lades when you see w iper
streaks. Clea n the wiper blades with a soft towel
and glass cleaner .

Removing the wiper blade

Installing the wiper blade
,.. Insert the new wiper blade into the mount on
the wiper arm @until it clicks into place.
,.. Place the wiper arm back on the windshield.
,.. Turn the service position off.
.,&. WARNING
For safety reasons, the windshield wiper
blades should be replaced once or twice each
year.
@ Note
- The windshield wiper blades must only be
folded away when in the service position! Otherwise, you risk damaging the paint on
the hood or the windshield wiper motor.
- You should not move your vehicle or press
the windshield wiper lever when the wiper
arms are folded away from the windshield.
The windshield wipers would move back in­
to their original position and could damage
the hood and windshield.
- You can also use the service position, for ex­
ample, if you want to protect the windshield
from icing by using a cover.
- You cannot activate the service position
when the hood is open.

Digital compass
Switching the compass on and off
Applies to: vehicles with digital compass

in the mirror appears or disappears.
The digital compass only works when the ignition is turned on. The directions are indicated with ab­
breviations:
N (north), NE (northeast), E (east),
SE (southeast), S (south), SW (southwest), W
(west),
NW (northwest) .
(D Tips
To prevent inaccurate compass readings, do
not bring any remote controls, electrical devi­
ces or metallic objects near the mirror.

A WARNING
-The power front seats can also be adjusted
when the ignition is switched off. For this

reason, children should never be left unat­
tended in the vehicle because they could be
injured.
- Only adjust the front seat when the vehicle
is stationary. Otherwise, this increases the
risk of an accident
- Exe rcise caution when adjusting the seat
height. Unsupervised or careless seat ad­
justment can pinch fingers or hands causing
injuries .
- The front seat backrests must not be re­
clined too far back when driving, because
this impairs the effect iveness of the safety
be lts and airbag system, which increases
the r isk of injury.
Multifunction button

tion of the backrest, lumbar support, side bol­
