Stop the vehicle in a safe place, stop the Plug-in Hybrid EV system, and take a rest.Use this display as rough guide for taking rests during a long drive.The interval from the start of your trip until this message is displayed can be set.Refer to “Changing the time until “REST REMINDER” is displayed” on page 6-19.The display and buzzer alert the driver when the set time is reached. If you continue to drive without having a rest, the buzzer sounds about every 5 minutes to encourage you to take a rest.zIn the following cases, the time driven is reset and the display returns to the previous dis-play screen. The direction of the headlamp beam (thedirection which the light shines in) altersaccording to the number of people and theload in the vehicle. Lower the headlamp
angle if it is too high due to the number ofpeople and/or the load in the vehicle so thatthe headlamps’ glare does not distract thedrivers of approaching vehicles. First set thelight switch to the “ ” position, then turnthe headlamp levelling switch knob to lowerthe beam. The greater the number on theheadlamp levelling switch knob, the lowerthe beam will point.Set the switch to the appropriate position sothat the headlamp beam is level with the road.

This mechanism automatically adjusts thedirection of the headlamps (beam position)depending on changes in the condition of thevehicle, such as the number of occupants orluggage weight. When the headlamps are illu-minated with the operation mode in ON, thebeam position of the headlamps is automati-cally adjusted when the vehicle is stopped.

Use the hazard warning flasher switch whenthe vehicle has to be parked on the road forany emergency.The hazard warning flashers can always beoperated, regardless of the operation mode.Push the switch to turn on the hazard warningflashers, all turn signal lamps flash continu-ously. To turn them off, push the switchagain.

When making a normal turn, use position(1). The lever will return automaticallywhen cornering is completed.
2- Lane-change signals
When moving the lever to (2) slightly tochange a lane, the turn-signal lamps andindicator lamp in the instrument clusterwill only flash while the lever is oper-ated.Also, when you move the lever to (2)slightly then release it, the turn-signallamps and indicator lamp in the instru-ment cluster will flash three times.

zIf the lamp flashes unusually quickly, thebulb in a turn-signal lamp may have burnedout. Changing the operation mode
CAUTIONzWhen the Plug-in Hybrid EV System is notoperating, put the operation mode in OFF.Leaving the operation mode in ON or ACCfor a long time when the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem is not operating may cause the auxil-iary battery to be discharged, making itimpossible to start the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem. zWhen the auxiliary battery is disconnected,the current operation mode is memorized.After reconnecting the auxiliary battery, thememorized mode is selected automatically.Before disconnecting the auxiliary batteryfor repair or replacement, make sure to putthe operation mode in OFF. Be careful if you are not sure which opera-tion mode the vehicle is in when the auxil-iary battery is run down.zThe operation mode ca

Regenerative braking level selector (paddle)can quickly change the regenerative brake force keeping your hand on the steeringwheel when you release your foot from theaccelerator pedal while driving.By pulling the regenerative braking levelselector, the brake force (amount of electricalenergy to charge the drive battery) can beadjusted according to the driving conditionsuch as before curve or a downhill.Regenerative braking level can be switched inthe 6 level from B0 (small regenerative brak-ing force) to B5 (large regenerative brakingforce).
Each time you pull the + (UP) paddle towardyou, the regenerative brake force lowers byone level.
