START CONTROL MODULE
The s tart cont rol module i s located in t he ins t rument panel , adjacent t o t he s teeri ng col umn. The st art control modul e i sus ed as a pri mary method t o aut horize t he remot e handset .
The remot e handset i s ins ert ed int o t he s tart cont rol module s l ot wit h the key fob loop trai li ng. The s t art cont rol module ismot orized and wi ll draw the remot e hands et int o t he s lot once ins ert ed.
The s tart cont rol module wi ll t hen read t he t rans ponder wit hin t he remote hands et and, if t he t rans ponder identi fi cat ion i svalid, pas s the identi ficat ion data to the CJB t o be proces s ed.
Five s econds after t he remot e hands et is ins ert ed in the s t art cont rol module, t he module will s t art t o charge t he remot ehands et batt ery.

2-Emergency key blade3-LH front door handl eThe remote hands et cont ai ns an emergency key blade, conceal ed in t he key fob. The front LH exterior door handleincorporates a mechanical operated door lock that i s conceal ed behind a removable plas ti c cover. The door lock all ows thefront LH door to be mechanicall y unlocked and locked us ing t he emergency key blade in the event that the remote cent rallocki ng operation fai ls, or a vehicl e power fai lure occurs.
W hen the mechanical door lock is us ed t he central l ocking syst em wil l not operat e, and if al ready armed the vehicle al armwi ll s ound when the door is opened. The vehicl e i s not abl e to be doubl e l ocked, or the al arm syst em armed usi ng theemergency key blade.
HOOD LATCHES

A mechanicall y operated safety hook i s i ns talled at the front center of t he hood. The safety hook prevent s t he hood fromfully opening in the event t hat the hood latches are open, and the vehicle is in motion. The safety hook i s s pring operatedto bi as the hook t o t he l atched posi tion, and is formed wit h a lever plat e. The lever must be press ed to release the safetyhook from t he mating lat ch plat e when t he hood is to be full y opened.

The remote hands et is identi cal for all vehicl e s peci ficat ions, but di ffers in t he pres et frequency and power that the remotehandset operates. The remot e handset for each vehicle specificat ion is ident ifi ed by a s uffix change to the base part numberas follows:

W hen the remote handset is operat ed, t he CJB checks t he unique i dent ificat ion and rol ling code. A tot al of 30 'sl ots ' are availabl e in the CJB s oftware to al low for repl acement, and the addi tion of remote hands et s. Inservi ce, t he Land Rover approved di agnost ic system may be us ed to communicat e wit h the CJB for the followi ng:

If the remote hands et rolling code l os es synchronizati on with t he CJB, t he remot e handset funct ions will not operate.Synchronizati on between the remote hands et and CJB is rest ored by s tart ing t he engine wit h t he affect ed remot e handset,and all owing the engine to run for a minimum of 6 mi nutes.
Addi tional buttons are located on the remote hands et to provide convenience operati on of t he li ftgat e rel ease, headlampdelay and panic al arm functions .
