HINT:
If any door is opened in the armed state, entry delay will occur
for 14 seconds.
During this time, the mode transfers to disarmed state if the
condition * is met.
When the condition is not met, the system judges that theft oc-
curs and transfers to the alarm sounding state.

(b) Answer back:
The buzzer and taillights respond as answer back under
the following conditions.
(1) When the system is set:
Arming preparation is set from disarmed state using
the wireless door lock, the buzzer and taillights.
(2) When the system is released:
Disarmed state is set from either arming prepara-
tion, armed state or alarm sounding using the wire-
less door lock, the buzzer and taillights.
4. PANIC ALARM CONTROL
(a) The panic alarm control makes it possible for you to volun-
tarily set off the panic alarm by pressing the PANIC switch
on the wireless transmitter. However, this control oper-
ates independently from the alarm control by the theft de-
terrent system (switched to the alarm sounding state from
the armed state).

(1) Conditions that cause the panic alarm control to set
off the panic alarm:
The panic alarm control sets off the panic alarm by
pressing the PANIC switch on the wireless transmit-
ter under the following conditions.
The ignition switch is OFF.
The theft deterrent system is not in the alarm
sounding state (common to active arming
mode and passive arming mode).
The panic alarm control is not operating (the
alarm is not set off).
(2) Conditions that cause the panic alarm control to
shut off the alarm:
The panic alarm control shuts off the panic alarm
when any of the following conditions is met during
panic alarm operation.
The ignition switch is turned ON.
Any of the switches on the wireless transmit-
ter (PANIC/LOCK/UNLOCK) is pressed.
The panic alarm ends (60 seconds have
passed).
The theft deterrent system switches to the
alarm sounding state (common to active arm-
ing mode and passive arming mode). Condi-
tions for canceling the panic alarm are the
same as for the alarm control.

ing mode) is satisfied, the system will switch to each state of the
active arming mode. In this case, the active arming mode will
continue until the system switches to the disarmed state.

If operating door control receiver in the order of 1 through 2, the mode turns to diagnostic mode.
(1) Insert the key plate in the ignition key cylinder and pull out, then insert it again and turn ignition switch
OFF " ON " OFF once within 5 seconds after pulling out.
(2) After completing the procedure within 30 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF " ON " OFF 9 times.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
1. NEW CODE REGISTRATION
NOTICE:
If pressing the switch of the original transmitter to
register the code, the system might operate.
When registering the transmitter codes such as for
garage or gate, check that there is nobody around
those places.
(a) Press the switch of the item to be registered for 20 se-
conds.
HINT:
When transferring to registration mode, garage door indicator
(green) blinks in 1 Hz cycle.
(b) Bring the original transmitter to within 1±inch area around
the garage door opener and press the switch (code trans-
mitting).
HINT:
When code registration is complete correctly, the garage door
indicator (green) blinks in 5.6 Hz cycle.

If a code can not be registered, observe the following condi-
tions.
HINT:
If the battery of original transmitter is consumed.
Press the switch of the transmitter repeatedly in registra-
tion mode, as some transmitters stop transmitting for 1 to
2 seconds.
This system is not applicable to the garage door opener
which had been made before 1982.
2. CODE DELETION
(a) Press the switches at both ends of the garage door open-
er simultaneously for 20 seconds.
HINT:
When transferring to deletion mode, garage door indicator
(green) blinks in 6 Hz cycle.
(b) When releasing the switch within 10 seconds after trans-
ferring to deletion mode, all the registered codes will be
erased.
HINT:
Press the switch until 6 Hz cycle blinking stops, so that the de-
fault code for check is set.

Use the front drive control switches
and center differential lock switch to
select the transfer and center differen-
tial modes.
In the ª4HIº and ª4LOº mode, you can
choose to lock or unlock the center differ-
ential.
Use the center differential lock system if
your wheels get stuck in a ditch, or when
you are driving on a slippery or bumpy
surface. When the center differential is
locked, the vehicle stability control system
is automatically turned off and the center
differential lock and ªVSC OFFº indicator
lights come on because the function that
controls engine performance interferes
with the process of freeing your wheels.
NOTICE
As soon as the center differential lock
switch is turned on, the ªVSC OFFº
indicator light comes on. After the
wheels are out of the ditch or off the
slippery or bumpy surface, turn the
center differential lock switch off.
Make sure that the center differential
lock indicator light and ªVSC OFFº
indicator light turn off.
ª2WDº mode (high speed, two±wheel
drive)
This mode is the normal driving mode. In
this mode, the ª4HIº and ª4LOº indicator
lights are turned off.
Use this for normal driving on dry hard±
surfaced roads. This position gives greater
economy, quietest ride, least wear and
better vehicle control.
ª4HIº mode (high speed, four±wheel
drive, center differential unlocked)
To select this mode, press the ª2WD/4HIº
switch only. The ª4HIº indicator light
comes on.
Use this for normal driving on all types of
roads, from dry hard±surfaced roads to
wet, icy or snow±covered roads. This
position provides greater traction than
two±wheel drive.ª4HIº mode (high speed, four±wheel
drive, center differential locked)
To select this mode, press the ª2DW/4HIº
switch, and then the center differential
lock switch. The ª4HIº and the center dif-
ferential lock indicator lights come on.
Use this for greater traction when you
experience a loss of power, such as
wheel slipping, in the center differential
unlock mode.
ª4LOº mode (low speed, four±wheel
drive, center differential unlocked)
To select this mode, press the ª4LOº
switch only. The ª4LOº indicator light
comes on.
Use this for maximum power and traction.
Use this for climbing steep hills, off±road
driving, and hard pulling in sand or mud.
In this mode, the braking feeling that oc-
curs when the wheels are negotiating a
sharp corner is further reduced than in the
ª4LOº (low speed, four±wheel drive, center
differential locked) mode.

The engine number is stamped on the
engine block as shown.Your new vehicle carries theft preven-
tion labels which are approximately 47
mm (1.85 in.) by 12 mm (0.47 in.).
The purpose of these labels is to reduce
the incidence of vehicle thefts by facilitat-
ing the tracing and recovery of parts from
stolen vehicles. The label is designed so
that once it is applied to a surface, any
attempt to remove it will result in destroy-
ing the integrity of the label. Transferring
these labels intact from one part to anoth-
er, will be impossible.NOTICE
You should not attempt to remove the
theft prevention labels as it may vio-
late certain state or federal laws.
CAUTION
Do not modify the suspension/chassis
with lift kits, spacers, springs, etc. It
can cause dangerous handling charac-
teristics resulting in loss of control.
