Securing a Child Restraint in a Rear
Outside Position (Sedan Only)

You’ll be using the lap-shoulder belt. See the earlier
section about the top strap
if the child restraint has one.
1. Put the restraint on the seat. Follow the instructions
for
the child restraint.
2. Secure the child in the child restraint as the
instructions say.
3. Pick up the latch plate, and run the lap and shoulder
portions of the vehicle’s safety belt through or
around the restraint. The child restraint instructions
will show you how.
If the shoulder belt goes
in front of the child’s face or
neck,
put it behind the child restraint.

4. Buckle the belt. Make sure the release button is
positioned
so you would be able to unbuckle the
safety belt quickly if you ever had to.
5. Pull the rest of the shoulder belt all the way out of
' the retractor to set the lock.

retractor while you push down on the child restraint.

Position 1. Make the belt as long as possible by tilting the latch
plate and pulling
it along the belt.

When you secure a chiId restraint in a center seating
position, you'll be using the lap belt.

in a different place in the vehicle and
contact the child restraint maker for their advice
about how to attach
the child restraint properly.

Securing a Child Restraint in the Right
Front
Seat
To use a child restraint here, you will need a special
infant/child seat attaching belt and the hardware that
goes with
it. See the earlier section about the top strap if
the child restraint has one.
Your dealer can get these and install the hardware
for
you. It’s free. The special belt is GM Part Number
12340286. Your dealer can find the correct hardware in
the accessory section of the
GM Parts Catalog.
Once the special hardware is installed, please follow the
instructions
with it and these steps:

1. Unbuckle the automatic lap-shoulder belt by pushing
the button on the buckle. 2. Snap one hook of the infant/child seat attaching belt
near the floor at the door side
of the seat.
It will stay on the door, ready
to be rebuckled for use
by adults
or older children.
