CENTER CONSOLE
WARNING
Use only soft cups in the cup holders.Hard objects can injure you in a crash.
Your vehicle may be equipped with avariety of console features. These include:
•front cup holders
•storage compartments under armrestwith pen holder and removable tray
•storage compartments for mobilephone in front of shifter lever
•auxiliary input jack (if equipped)
•USB (if equipped)
•auxiliary power point.
COOL BOX
Cool Box allows you to direct cool air intothe glove box compartment. Airconditioning must be turned on. Use therotary control inside the glove box toenable this feature .
GLASSES HOLDER (If Equipped)

The glasses must be placed in the glassesholder with the lenses facing downward.If not, the glasses can fall down when theglasses holder is open.

GENERAL INFORMATION
WARNINGS
Extended idling at high enginespeeds can produce very hightemperatures in the engine andexhaust system, creating the risk of fire orother damage.
Do not park, idle or drive your vehicleon dry grass or other dry groundcover. The emission system heats upthe engine compartment and exhaustsystem, creating the risk of fire.
Do not start the engine in a closedgarage or in other enclosed areas.Exhaust fumes can be toxic. Alwaysopen the garage door before you start theengine.
Exhaust leaks may result in entry ofharmful and potentially lethal fumesinto the passenger compartment. Ifyou smell exhaust fumes inside yourvehicle, have your vehicle inspectedimmediately. Do not drive if you smellexhaust fumes.
If you disconnect the battery, your vehiclemay exhibit some unusual drivingcharacteristics for approximately 5 mi(10 km) after you reconnect it. This isbecause the engine management systemmust realign itself with the engine. You candisregard any unusual drivingcharacteristics during this period.
When you start the engine, do not pressthe accelerator pedal before and duringoperation. Only use the accelerator pedalwhen you have difficulty starting theengine.
IGNITION SWITCH
Note:Make sure the key is clean beforeinserting it into any lock cylinder.
Note: Do not leave the key in the ignitionfor an extended period of time when theengine is not running. This is to prevent thevehicle battery from losing charge.
Switching the Ignition Off
Turn the key to position 0.
Switching the Ignition toAccessory Mode
Turn the key to position I. Electricalaccessories, for example the radio, operatewithout the engine running.
Switching the Ignition On
Turn the key to position II. All electricalcircuits and accessories are operationaland the warning lamps and indicatorsilluminate.

Starting the Engine
Turn the key to position III. Release thekey when the engine starts.
PUSH BUTTON IGNITION
SWITCH (If Equipped)
WARNING
Always check that the steering wheellock is deactivated beforeattempting to move your vehicle.Failure to deactivate the steering wheellock could result in a crash.
Note:The system may not function if theremote control is close to metal objects orelectronic devices such as cell phones.
Note:The ignition automatically switchesoff when you leave your vehicle unattended.This is to prevent your vehicle battery fromlosing charge.
Note:A valid key must be located insideyour vehicle to switch the ignition on andstart the engine.
Switching the Ignition On(Accessory Mode)
Press the button once without your footon the brake or clutch pedal. It is locatedon the instrument panel near the steeringwheel. All electrical circuits andaccessories are operational and thewarning lamps and indicators illuminate.
Press the button again without your footon the brake or clutch pedal to turn yourvehicle off completely.
Starting the Engine
Vehicles with a Manual Transmission
Note:Releasing the clutch pedal duringengine start stops the engine cranking andreturns the ignition to on.
1.Fully depress the clutch pedal.
2.Press the button.
Vehicles with an AutomaticTransmission
Note:Releasing the brake pedal duringengine start stops the engine cranking andreturns the ignition to on.
1.Shift into park (P) or neutral (N).
2.Fully press the brake pedal.
3.Press the button.
Failure to Start
The system does not function if:
•The key frequencies are jammed.
•The key battery has no charge.
If you are unable to start your vehicle, dothe following:

1.Open the floor console storagecompartment lid.
2.Remove the tray.
3.Place the key into the backup slot.
4.With the key in this position, you canuse the push button ignition switch toswitch the ignition on and start yourvehicle.
Note:If your vehicle is equipped with amanual transmission, releasing the clutchpedal or button during engine start stopsthe engine cranking and returns the ignitionto on. A message appears in the display.
When the engine does not crank when thestarter button is pressed:
1.Fully depress the clutch pedal (vehicleswith a manual transmission) and brakepedal (vehicles with an automatictransmission).
2.Press the button until the engine starts.
Stopping the Engine with theVehicle Stationary
Note:The ignition, all electrical circuitswarning lamps and indicators turn off.
Note:If your vehicle is equipped with anautomatic transmission, put thetransmission selector lever in position P.
Briefly press the button.
Stopping the Engine When theVehicle is Moving
Note:Switching off the engine when yourvehicle is still moving results in a significantdecrease in braking assistance. Higher effortis required to apply the brakes and to stopyour vehicle. A significant decrease insteering assistance could also occur. Thesteering does not lock, but higher effortcould be required to steer your vehicle.When you switch the ignition off, someelectrical circuits, for example airbags, alsoturn off. If you unintentionally switch theignition off, shift into neutral (N) and restartthe engine.
•Press and hold the button for at leastone second or press it three timeswithin two seconds.

•Move the transmission selector leverto the neutral position (vehicles with amanual transmission) or position N(vehicles with an automatictransmission) and use the brakes tobring your vehicle to a safe stop.
•When your vehicle has stopped, movethe transmission selector lever to theneutral position (vehicles with amanual transmission) or position N(vehicles with an automatictransmission) and switch the ignitionoff.
STARTING A GASOLINE
ENGINE
Before starting the engine, check thefollowing:
•Make sure all occupants have fastenedtheir seatbelts.
•Make sure the headlamps andelectrical accessories are off.
•Make sure the parking brake is on.
•Shift into park (P) or neutral.
Note:You can only attempt to start theengine for a limited amount of time beforethe starting system temporarily disables. Ifyou exceed the starting time limit, amessage may appear and you cannotattempt to start the engine for at least 15minutes.
Cold or Hot Engine
Vehicles with Manual Transmission
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
Note:Releasing the clutch pedal duringengine starting stops the engine fromcranking.
1.Fully depress the clutch pedal.
2.Start the engine.
Vehicles with Automatic Transmission
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
1.Fully depress the brake pedal.
2.Shift into park (P) or neutral (N).
3.Start the engine.
All Vehicles
If the engine does not start within 10seconds, wait for a short period and tryagain.
If the engine does not start after threeattempts, wait ten seconds and follow theflooded engine procedure.
If you have difficulty starting the enginewhen the temperature is below -13.0°F(-25°C), press the accelerator pedal to themid-way point of its travel and try again.
Fuel Flooded Engine
Vehicles with Manual Transmission
1.Fully depress the clutch pedal.
2.Fully depress the accelerator pedal andhold it there.
3.Start the engine.
Vehicles with Automatic Transmission
1.Fully depress the brake pedal.
2.Shift into park (P) or neutral (N).
3.Fully depress the accelerator pedal andhold it there.
4.Start the engine.
All Vehicles
If the engine does not start, repeat the coldor hot engine procedure.

Engine Idle Speed after Starting
The speed at which the engine idlesimmediately after starting minimizesvehicle emissions and maximizes cabincomfort and fuel economy.
The idle speed varies depending on certainfactors. These include vehicle componentand ambient temperatures as well aselectrical and climate system demands.
Failure to Start
Vehicles with Manual Transmission
If the engine does not crank when you fulldepress the clutch pedal with the ignitionkey in position III, follow this procedure:
1.Fully depress both the clutch and brakepedals.
2.Turn the key to position III until theengine has started.
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (If
Equipped)
WARNINGS
Failure to follow engine block heaterinstructions could result in propertydamage or serious personal injury.
Do not use your heater withungrounded electrical systems ortwo-pronged adapters. There is a riskof electrical shock.
Do not fully close the hood, or allowit to drop under its own weight whenusing the engine block heater. Thiscould damage the power cable and maycause an electrical short resulting in fire,injury and property damage.
Note:The heater is most effective whenoutdoor temperatures are below 0°F(-18°C).
The heater acts as a starting aid bywarming the engine coolant. This allowsthe climate control system to respondquickly. The equipment includes a heaterelement (installed in the engine block) anda wire harness. You can connect thesystem to a grounded 120-volt ACelectrical source.
We recommend that you do the followingfor a safe and correct operation:
•Use a 16-gauge outdoor extension cordthat is product certified byUnderwriter’s Laboratory (UL) orCanadian Standards Association(CSA). This extension cord must besuitable for use outdoors, in coldtemperatures, and be clearly markedSuitable for Use with OutdoorAppliances. Do not use an indoorextension cord outdoors. This couldresult in an electric shock or become afire hazard.
•Use as short an extension cord aspossible.
•Do not use multiple extension cords.
•Make sure that when in operation, theextension cord plug and heater cordplug connections are free and clear ofwater. This could cause an electricshock or fire.
•Make sure your vehicle is parked in aclean area, clear of combustibles.
•Make sure the heater, heater cord andextension cord are firmly connected.
•Check for heat anywhere in theelectrical hookup once the system hasbeen operating for approximately 30minutes.

•Make sure the system is unplugged andproperly stowed before starting anddriving your vehicle. Make sure theprotective cover seals the prongs of theblock heater cord plug when not in use.
•Make sure the heater system ischecked for proper operation beforewinter.
Using the Engine Block Heater
Make sure the receptacle terminals areclean and dry prior to use. Clean them witha dry cloth if necessary.
The heater uses 0.4 to 1.0 kilowatt-hoursof energy per hour of use. The system doesnot have a thermostat. It achievesmaximum temperature afterapproximately three hours of operation.Using the heater longer than three hoursdoes not improve system performance andunnecessarily uses electricity.
AUTOMATIC ENGINE
SHUTDOWN
For vehicles with a keyless ignition, thisautomatically shuts down your vehicle ifit has been idling for an extended period.The ignition also turns off to save batterypower. Before your vehicle shuts down, amessage appears in the informationdisplay showing a timer counting down. Ifyou do not intervene within 30 seconds,your vehicle shuts down. Start your vehicleas normal.
Automatic Engine Shutdown Override
Note: You cannot permanently switch offthe automatic shutdown.
You can stop the shutdown, or reset thetimer, at any point before the 30-secondcountdown has expired by doing any of thefollowing:
•Interacting with your vehicle, forexample pressing the brake oraccelerator pedal.
