Service Data Recording
Service data recorders in your vehicle arecapable of collecting and storingdiagnostic information about your vehicle.This potentially includes information aboutthe performance or status of varioussystems and modules in the vehicle, suchas engine, throttle, steering or brakesystems. In order to properly diagnose andservice your vehicle, Ford Motor Company(Ford of Canada in Canada), and serviceand repair facilities may access or shareamong them vehicle diagnosticinformation received through a directconnection to your vehicle whendiagnosing or servicing your vehicle.Additionally, Ford Motor Company (Fordof Canada, in Canada) may, wherepermitted by law, use vehicle diagnosticinformation for vehicle improvement orwith other information we may have aboutyou, (for example, your contactinformation), to offer you products orservices that may interest you. Data maybe provided to our service providers suchas part suppliers that may help diagnosemalfunctions, and who are similarlyobligated to protect data. We retain this

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The remote control allows you to:
•Remotely lock or unlock the vehicledoors.
•Unlock the doors without actively usinga key or remote control (intelligentaccess only).
•Activate the panic alarm.
Car Finder
Press the button twice withinthree seconds. The horn soundsand the direction indicatorsflash. We recommend you use this methodto locate your vehicle, rather than usingthe panic alarm.
Sounding the Panic Alarm
Note:The panic alarm only operates whenthe ignition is off.
Press the button to sound thepanic alarm. Press the buttonagain or switch the ignition on toturn it off.
GENERAL INFORMATION ON
RADIO FREQUENCIES
This device complies with Part 15 of theFCC Rules and with Industry Canadalicense-exempt RSS standard(s).Operation is subject to the following twoconditions: (1) This device may not causeharmful interference, and (2) This devicemust accept any interference received,including interference that may causeundesired operation.
Note:Changes or modifications notexpressively approved by the partyresponsible for compliance could void theuser's authority to operate the equipment.The term IC before the radio certificationnumber only signifies that Industry Canadatechnical specifications were met.
The typical operating range for yourtransmitter is approximately 32.8 ft (10 m).
A decrease in operating range could becaused by:
•weather conditions
•nearby radio towers
•structures around your vehicle
•other vehicles parked next to yourvehicle.
The radio frequency used by your remotecontrol can also be used by other radiotransmitters, for example amateur radios,medical equipment, wireless headphones,wireless remote controls, cell phones,battery chargers and alarm systems. If thefrequencies are jammed, you will not beable to use your remote control. You canlock and unlock the doors with the key.
Note:Make sure your vehicle is lockedbefore leaving it unattended.
Note:If you are in range, the remote controlwill operate if you press any buttonunintentionally.
Note: The remote control containssensitive electrical components. Exposureto moisture or impact may cause permanentdamage.
REMOTE CONTROL
The Dealer can program a maximum of sixremote controls to your vehicle.

Note: When you lock your vehicle forseveral weeks, the remote control switchesoff. Your vehicle must be unlocked and theengine started using the key. Unlocking andstarting your vehicle once will enable theremote control.
Press the button to unlock all thethe doors. The turn signals willflash once.
Reprogramming the UnlockingFunction
You can reprogram the unlocking function.Using the remote control, you can choosebetween unlocking only the driver door orall doors in the first press. To do so, pressand hold lock and unlock buttons in theremote control for 4 seconds. The turnlamps will flash twice. To revert, repeatthe process. You can also reprogramthrough the cluster. See InformationDisplays (page 85).
Locking the Doors
Press the button to lock all thedoors. The direction indicatorswill flash.
Press the button again within threeseconds to confirm that all the doors areclosed. The doors will lock again, the hornwill sound once and the direction indicatorswill flash if all the doors and the luggagecompartment are closed.
Note:If hood or luggage compartment isopen when you press the button once, thedirection indicators will not flash. Thisindicates your vehicle did not lock. If a reardoor, the luggage compartment or the hoodis open (on vehicles with an anti-theftalarm) when you press the button againwithin three seconds, the horn sounds twiceand the direction indicators will not flash.This indicates your vehicle locked but thereis one or more items open.
Note:The direction indicators will flash aslocking feedback only when ignition is OFF.
Automatic Relocking (If Equipped)
The doors will relock automatically if youdo not open a door within 45 seconds ofunlocking the doors with the remotecontrol. The door locks and the alarm willreturn to their previous state.
This feature will be disabled when youreceive the vehicle.You can switch thisfeature on or off in the information display.See Information Displays (page 85).
Locking and Unlocking the Doorswith the Key
Note:Do not leave your keys in your vehicle.
Locking with the Key
Turn the top of the key toward the front ofyour vehicle.
Unlocking with the Key
Note: If the child safety locks are on andyou pull the interior handle, you will onlyswitch off the emergency locking, not thechild safety lock. You can only open thedoors using the external door handle.
Note:If the doors have been unlocked usingthis method, the doors must be lockedindividually until the central locking functionhas been repaired.
Turn the top of the key toward the rear ofyour vehicle. You can unlock all otherdoors individually by pulling the interiordoor handles.
Note:When the central locking functionfails to operate, lock the doors individuallyusing the key in the position shown.

Autounlock
Autounlock unlocks all the doors when allof the following occur:
•The ignition is on, all the doors areclosed, and your vehicle has beenmoving at a speed greater than12.4 mph (20 km/h).
•Your vehicle comes to a stop and youswitch the ignition off or to theaccessory position.
•You open the driver door within 10minutes of switching the ignition off orto accessory.
Note:If you electronically lock your vehicleafter you switch the ignition off with thedriver door closed, the doors will notautounlock.
You can switch this feature on or off in theinformation display. See InformationDisplays (page 85).
Smart Unlock
This feature helps to prevent you fromlocking your key inside your vehicle’spassenger compartment or rear cargo area.When you electronically lock your vehiclewith any door open and the ignition is off,the system searches for a keyfob insideyour vehicle after you close the last door.
If the system finds a Intelligent Access key(if equipped) or there's a key in the ignitionswitch, all of the doors will immediatelyunlock and the horn will sound twice,indicating that a key is inside.
When you electronically lock your vehiclewith any door open and the ignition is inRUN, the vehicle will unlock all doors andsound the horn twice.
You can switch the horn feedback of thisfeature on or off in the information display.See Information Displays (page 85).
Illuminated Entry
The interior lamps and some exteriorlamps illuminate when you unlock thedoors with the remote control. Theilluminated entry system will turn off thelights if:
•The ignition is on.
•You press the remote control lockbutton.
After 25 seconds of illumination. The lightswill not turn off if:
•You turn them on with the lampcontrol.
•Any door is open. In this case, more ofthe interior lighting will illuminate andthe timer will reset.
Illuminated Exit
The interior lamps illuminate when alldoors are closed and you switch theignition off. The lamps will turn off if all thedoors remain closed and:
•25 seconds have elapsed.
•You switch ignition to RUN.
When any door is opened, the exteriorlamps will illuminate and remain on for 25seconds, along with the interior. Whenevera door is opened or closed, the timer willreset.

If the alarm is triggered, the alarm horn willsound for 30 seconds and the hazardwarning flasher will flash for five minutes.
Any further attempts to perform one of theabove will trigger the alarm again.
Arming the Alarm
With ignition OFF and doors closed, lockthe vehicle via Remote Control or exteriordoor handle. Alarm will be armed after 20seconds.
Arming the alarm can also be achieved bylocking the vehicle using the trim switcheswhile a side door is open and closing alldoors, or using the driver's door cylinder.In these two last cases, alarm will bearmed after 20 seconds.
Note:Alarm will arm due to an auto-relock.See Doors and Locks (page 54).
Disarming the Alarm
Vehicles Without Intelligent AccessSystem
Disarm and silence the alarm by unlockingthe doors with the key and switching yourvehicle on with a correctly coded key orunlocking the doors with the remotecontrol.
Vehicles with Intelligent AccessSystem
Note:A valid intelligent access key mustbe located within the detection range ofthat door for entry.
Disarm the alarm by performing aintelligent access entry, or switching yourvehicle on, or unlocking the vehicle withthe remote control.
Disarm the alarm by performing a keylessentry, or switching your vehicle on, orunlocking the vehicle with the remotecontrol.

Before driving through standing water,check the depth. Never drive through waterthat is higher than the bottom of the frontrocker area of your vehicle.
When driving through standing water, drivevery slowly and do not stop your vehicle.Your brake performance and traction maybe limited. After driving through water andas soon as it is safe to do so:
•Lightly press the brake pedal to dry thebrakes and to check that they work.
•Check that the horn works.
•Check that the exterior lights work.
•Turn the steering wheel to check thatthe steering power assist works.
FLOOR MATS
Always use floor mats that are designedto fit the footwell of your vehicle. Only usefloor mats that are firmly secured toretention posts.
WARNING
Make sure that the floor mat issecured properly using theappropriate fixings, and do notposition the floor mat so that it interfereswith the operation of the pedals.
Pedals that cannot move freely can causeloss of vehicle control and increase the riskof serious personal injury.
Always make sure that the floor mats areproperly attached to the retention postsin the carpet that are supplied with yourvehicle. Floor mats must be properlysecured to both retention posts to ensuremats do not shift out of position.
Never place floor mats or any othercovering in the vehicle footwell that cannotbe properly secured to prevent them frommoving and interfering with the pedals orthe ability to control the vehicle.
Never place floor mats or any othercovering on top of already installed floormats. Floor mats should always rest ontop of the vehicle carpeting surface andnot another floor mat or other covering.Additional floor mats or any other coveringwill reduce the pedal clearance andpotentially interfere with pedal operation.
Check attachment of floor mats on aregular basis. Always properly reinstall andsecure floor mats that have been removedfor cleaning or replacement.
Failure to properly follow floor matinstallation or attachment instructions canpotentially cause interference with pedaloperation causing loss of control of vehicle.

1.Remove the jumper cable from theground metal surface.
2.Remove the jumper cable on thenegative (-) terminal of the boostervehicle's battery.
3.Remove the jumper cable from thepositive (+) terminal of the boostervehicle's battery.
4.Remove the jumper cable from thepositive (+) terminal of the disabledvehicle's battery.
After the disabled vehicle has been startedand the jumper cables removed, allow itto idle for several minutes so the enginecomputer can relearn its idle conditions.
POST-CRASH ALERT SYSTEM
The system flashes the turn signal lampsand sounds the horn (intermittently) in theevent of a serious impact that deploys anairbag (front, side, side curtain or SafetyCanopy) or the seatbelt pretensioners.
The horn and lamps will turn off when:
•The hazard control button is pressed
•The panic button (if equipped) ispressed on the remote entrytransmitter
•Your vehicle runs out of power
