Cleaning the Window Interiors
If the windows become covered with an
oily, greasy, or waxy ¿ lm, clean them with
glass cleaner. Follow the directions on the
container.
CAUTION
 


¾ Do not scrape or scratch the inside of
the window glass. It could damage the
thermal fi laments.
 


¾ When washing the inside of the window
glass, use a soft cloth dampened in
lukewarm water, gently wiping the
thermal fi laments.
  Use of glass cleaning products could
damage the thermal fi laments.

Cleaning the Floor Mats
Rubber À oor mats should be cleaned with
mild soap and water only.
WARNING
Do not use rubber cleaners, such as tire
cleaner or tire shine, when cleaning
rubber fl oor mats:
Cleaning the rubber fl oor mats with
rubber cleaning products makes the
fl oor mats slippery.
This may cause an accident when
depressing the accelerator, brake, or
clutch (Manual transmission) pedal or
when getting in or out of the vehicle.

After removing the À oor mats for cleaning,
always reinstall them securely (page
3-52 ).

Parking in an Emergency
Parking in an Emergency
The hazard warning lights should always
be used when you stop on or near a
roadway in an emergency.



The hazard warning lights warn other
drivers that your vehicle is a traf¿ c hazard
and that they must take extreme caution
when near it.



Depress the hazard warning À asher and
all the turn signals will À ash. The hazard
warning indicator lights in the instrument
cluster À ash simultaneously.
N O T E




y The turn signals do not work when the
hazard warning lights are on.
 


y Check local regulations about the use of
hazard warning lights while the vehicle
is being towed to verify that it is not in
violation of the law.

To remove the jack
1. Remove the cover.



2. Turn the wing bolt and jack screw
counterclockwise.

To secure the jack
1. Insert the wing bolt into the jack with
the jack screw pointing back and turn
the wing bolt clockwise to temporarily
tighten it.
2. Turn the jack screw clockwise.

3. Turn the wing bolt completely to secure
the jack.
N O T E
If the jack is not completely secured, it
could rattle while driving. Make sure the
jack screw is suf¿ ciently tightened.

4. Insert the cover tabs and install the
cover.

Verify that the cover is securely installed.

y Always keep the jack clean.



y Make sure the moving parts are kept
free from dirt or rust.
 


y Make sure the screw thread is
adequately lubricated.

Emergency Flat Tire
Repair Kit
The emergency À at tire repair kit included
with your Mazda is for a temporary repair
of a slightly damaged À at tire resulting
from running over nails or similar sharp
objects on the road surface.
Perform the emergency À at tire repair
without removing the nail or similar sharp
object which punctured the tire.
N O T E
Your vehicle is not equipped with a spare
tire. In the event of a À at tire, use the
emergency À at tire repair kit to repair
the tire temporarily. When doing the
repair, refer to the instructions included
in the emergency À at tire repair kit. If an
emergency repair was performed on a À at
tire using the emergency À at tire repair kit,
have an Authorized Mazda Dealer, repair
or replace the tire as soon as possible.

WARNING
Do not allow children to touch the tire
sealant:
 


¾ Ingestion of tire sealant is
dangerous. In the event tire
sealant is accidentally swallowed,
drink large amounts of water
immediately and seek medical
assistance.
 


¾ Tire sealant that comes into contact
with the eyes and skin is dangerous.
If tire sealant enters the eyes or
contacts the skin, fl ush immediately
with large amounts of water and
seek medical assistance.

N O T E
 


y The tire sealant cannot be reused.
Purchase new tire sealant at an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.
 


y The emergency À at tire repair kit cannot
be used in the following cases.
  Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer. 



y The period of effective use for the
tire sealant has expired. (The period
of effectiveness is indicated on the
bottle label.)
 


y The tear or puncture exceeds about 4
mm (0.16 in).
 


y The damage has occurred to an area
of the tire other than the tread.
 


y The vehicle has been driven with
nearly no air remaining in the tire.
 


y The tire has come off the wheel rim.



y Damage to the wheel rim has
occurred.
 


y The tire has two or more punctures.

Using the Emergency Flat Tire
Repair Kit
U.S.A. and Canada
1. Move the vehicle off the right-of-way
to a safe place on a level and hard
surface where the vehicle does not
obstruct traf¿ c.
2. Shift the shift lever to the 1 or Reverse
(R) position for a manual transmission,
and shift the selector lever to the P
position for an automatic transmission.
3. Apply the parking brake with the brake
pedal depressed and turn off the engine.
4. If necessary, À ash the hazard warning
lights and set up the roadside
emergency triangle.
5. Unload passengers and cargo and
remove the emergency À at tire repair
kit.
