For
maximum
acceleration

touching

selector,

the
accelerator
pedal

down).
The
gearbox
changes
down

the
gear

ntil
the
maximum
engine
speed
is
reached.
On
braking,
the
gearbox
changes
down

utomatically
to
provide
efficient
engine

raking.
As

safety
measure,
if
you
release
the

ccelerator
sharply,
the
gearbox
will
not

hange
up. These
two special programmes complete

he automatic operation, for use in particular

Sport and snow programmes
"S" sport programme

gearbox automatically allows a more

gearbox adapts itself to driving on slippery

This
programme helps moving off and improves

the vehicle is stationary or moving

ery slowly, the gearbox engages first gear

tomatically. With
t he i gnition o n, i llumination o f
t
his warning lamp, accompanied
b
y an audible signal and a message in the
m
ultifunction screen, indicates a gearbox fault.
In
this case, the gearbox switches to back-up
m
ode and is locked in 3rd gear. You may feel
a
substantial knock when changing from P
to R
and from N to R.
This will not cause any
d
amage to the gearbox.
Do
not exceed 60 mph (100 km/h), local speed
r
estrictions
p
ermitting.
Contact
a CITROËN dealer or a qualified

orkshop as soon as possible.
This
symbol is displayed if a gear

s not engaged correctly (selector

The
sport and snow programmes are

Gear efficiency indicator
System which reduces fuel consumption by advising the driver to change up.
O n vehicle fitted with a manual
g
earbox, the arrow is accompanied by
t
he gear recommended.
With
an electronic or automatic
g
earbox, the system is only active in
m
anual
m
ode. The
system adapts its gear change
r
ecommendation according to the
d
riving conditions (slope, load, ...) and
t
he demands of the driver (power,
a
cceleration, braking, ...).
The
system never suggests:
-
e
ngaging first gear,
-
enga
ging
r
everse
g
ear,
-
e
ngaging a lower gear.
Operation
Depending on the driving situation and your vehicle's equipment, the system may advise
y
ou to skip one (or more) gear(s). You can
f
ollow this instruction without engaging the
i
ntermediate
g
ears.
The
gear engagement recommendations must
n
ot be considered compulsory. In fact, the
c
onfiguration of the road, the amount of traffic
a
nd safety remain determining factors when
c
hoosing the best gear. Therefore, the driver
r
emains responsible for deciding whether or not
t
o follow the advice given by the system.
This
function cannot be deactivated. Example:

ou are in third gear.

ou press the accelerator pedal.

he system may suggest that you engage

higher gear.
The information appears in the instrument

Stop & Start
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
The "ECO" warning lamp comes o
n in the instrument panel and the
e
ngine goes into standby:

the vehicle stationary, when you press
the
brake pedal or put the gear selector in

osition N .
A
time
counter calculates the sum of the
p
eriods
in
STOP mode during a journey. It rests
i
tself
to
zero every time the ignition is switched

n
with
the key.
The
Stop
&
Start system
puts
the
engine
t
emporarily
into
standby
-
STOP
mode
-
during
s
tops
in
the
traffic
(red
lights,
traffic
jams,
or
o
ther...).
The
engine
restarts
automatically
-
S
TART
mode
-
as
soon
as
you
want
to
move
o
ff.
The
restart
takes
place
instantly,
quickly
a
nd
silently.
Per fect
for
urban
use,
the
Stop
&
Start
system
r
educes
fuel
consumption
and
exhaust
e
missions
as
well
as
the
noise
level
when
s
tationary. Never
refuel with the engine in
S
TOP mode; you must switch off the
i
gnition with the key.
For
your comfort, during parking
m
anoeuvres, STOP mode is not
a
vailable for a few seconds after
c
oming out of reverse gear.
STOP
mode does not affect the
f
unctionality of the vehicle, such as for
example,
braking, power steering...

In the event of a fault with the system, the indicator lamp in the "ECO OFF" button
flashes
for a few moments, then comes on

ontinuously.

the event of a fault in STOP mode, the

ehicle may stall. All of the warning lamps
i
n the instrument panel come on. It is then

ecessary to switch off the ignition and start

he engine again using the key.
Operating fault
The Stop & Start system requires
a 12 V battery with a special
s
pecification
a
nd
t
echnology.
All
work on this type of battery must be
c
arried out only by a CITROËN dealer
o
r a qualified workshop.

Press

to
deactivate
the
system.
Deactivation
is
confirmed
by
illumination
of
the

ndicator
lamp
in
the
button
and
the
display
of

message.
Pressing

button
again
reactivates

ystem.

the

goes
off,

ccompanied
by
the
display
of
a
message.
Deactivation / Manual
reactivation
In certain cases, such as the need to maintain a comfortable temperature in the passenger
c
ompartment, it may be useful to deactivate the
S
top & Start system.
The
system can be deactivated at any time,
o
nce the ignition is on.
If
the engine is in STOP mode, it then restarts.
The
Stop & Start system is reactivated
a
utomatically every time the ignition is
switched
on.
Opening the bonnet
Before
doing anything under the
b
onnet, deactivate the Stop & Start
s
ystem to avoid the risk of injury
r
elated to an automatic change to
S
TART mode.
Driving on flooded roads
Before
driving through a flooded road,
i
t is strongly recommended that you
d
eactivate the Stop & Start system.

Speed limiter
System which prevents the vehicle from exceeding the speed programmed by the driver.
When
the programmed speed limit is reached,
p
ressing the accelerator pedal in the normal
m
anner no longer has any effect.
The
speed limiter is switched on
m
anually:
i
t requires a programmed speed of at least
2
0 mph (30 km/h).
The
speed limiter is switched off by manual
o
peration of the control.
The
programmed speed can be exceeded
t
emporarily by pressing the accelerator firmly.
To
return to the programmed speed, simply
s
low down to a speed below the programmed
s
peed. The
speed limiter cannot, in any
c
ircumstances, replace the need to
r
espect speed limits, nor can it replace the
n
eed for vigilance on the part of the driver.The

do not have to switch the speed limiter

n in order to set the speed.
Programming Leaving limiter mode
F Turn thumb wheel 1 to the "0" position: t
he speed limiter mode is deselected. The

isplay returns to the distance recorder.
On
a steep descent or in the event of
s
harp acceleration, the speed limiter
w
ill not be able to prevent the vehicle
from
exceeding the programmed speed.
To
avoid any risk of jamming of the
ped
als:

nsure that the mat is secured
c
o r r e c t l y,
-
d
o not fit one mat on top of another.
In
the event of a speed limiter fault, the speed
i
s cleared and the dashes then flash.

Operating fault
F Set the speed value by pressing button 2 or 3 (e.g.: 55 mph (
90 km/h)).
You
can then change the programmed speed using buttons 2 and 3:

n steps of + or - 5 mph (km/h) = maintained press.
Exceeding the programmed speed
Pressing the accelerator pedal to exceed the programmed speed will not have any effect unless you press the pedal firmly past the point of
resistance .
The
speed
limiter
is
deactivated
temporarily
and
the
programmed
speed,
w
hich is still displayed, flashes, accompanied by an audible signal.
Returning
to the programmed speed, by means of intentional or
u
nintentional deceleration of the vehicle, automatically cancels the
f
lashing of the programmed speed and the audible signal stops.
