A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal injury .
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving. In case
of an acc ident, sudden braking or other
veh icle movement , hot liquid could spill,
causing scalding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can also cause an accident and personal
injury .
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an
accident .
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray - risk of fire .
(D Note
Only drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupholder. Liquid could spill
out and damage you r vehicles electronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.

The cigare tte lighte r or socket only work with
the ign ition on.
Using the cigarette lighter • Press the cigarette lighter in.
• Remove the ciga rette lighter when it pops
out.
Conn ecting an appliance
• Remove cigarette lighter .
• Plug in appliance to be used.
The socket of the cigarette lighter may be used for 12 -volt appliances with max imum
consumption of up to 100 watts, such as a
flash light, small vacuum cleaner, etc.
Before you purchase any accessories, always
read and follow the information in
~ page 22 7, Additional accessories and parts
replacement.
A WARNING
Improper use of the cigarette lighter can
cause serious injury or star t a fire.
- Be careful when using the ciga rette light­
er.
If you do not pay attention to what you are doing when you are using t
he cig­
arette lighter you can burn yourself.

- To avoid damagi ng the socket, only use
plugs that fit proper ly .
- Only use the cigarette lighter socket as a
power source for e lectrica l accessories
for short durations. Use the sockets in
the vehicle when a power source is need­ ed for longer durations .
(D Tips
- When the engine is off and accessories
are sti ll plugged in and are on, the vehi­
cle battery can still be drained.
- The vehicle battery must not be charged
w ith a standard small charger that plugs
into the cigarette lighter or outlet .
Outlet
T he outlet in the front center console may be
used for 12-volt appliances.

The outlet may be used for 12 -volt appliances
with maximum consumpt ion of up to 100

Storage
General
_& WARNING
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not put away
could slide around inside the vehicle
wh ile driving or when accelerating or
when applying the brakes or when driv­
ing around a corner.

- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter console or other storage locations
cannot fall o ut into the footwells . In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.

Glove compartment
The glove compartment is illuminated and
can be locked .

glove compartment lid upward until the lock
engages.
The CD changer * for the Sound System is lo­
cated in the glove compartment .
A WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal i njury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
Storage compartment in the front seats
Applies to vehicles: with storage compartment in the
front seats
There is a fold-out storage compartment in
the front of the seats .
.. To open the storage compartment,
lift the
handle and pull the drawer out .

.. To close the storage compartment, push the
drawer in completely until it latches.

The air conditioning automatically maintains the selected temperature in the vehicle interior
throughout each season .

We recommend the following sett ing :
• Rotate the knob

switch on the air conditioning .
• Set the temperature to 72 °F (22 °() .
• Press the
!AUTO I c::> fig . 78 button .
Using the previously recommended setting is
the quickest way to achieve a comfortable cli ­
mate in the vehicle . Th is setting should there­
fore only be changed when persona l comfort
l eve ls o r certain circumstances requ ire it .
The climate controls are a combination of au ­
tomatic heating and ventilation systems and a
coo ling system which dehum idifies and coo ls
the air inside the vehicle .
The climate controls automatically maintain a temperature once it has been set. The tem­pe rat ure of the air from the v ents, fan speed
(air vo lume) and ai r distribu tion are also auto ­
mat ica lly adjusted . The system also takes into
account strong sunshine so that manua l ad ­
justment is not necessary . So in almost all
cases,
a utomatic mode offers the best cond i­
tions for the comfort of the occupants at all
times of the year

Plea se note:
In cooling mode, relative humidity in the inte­
rior is reduced . This prevents the w indows
from fogg ing up .
When relative hum idity and temperatures
outside are high,
condensation can drip from
the a ir cond ition ing evaporator and form a
poo l of water under the veh icle. This is normal
and not an ind ication of a leak!
When outside temperatures are low, the fan
does not switch to a higher speed until the coolant has reached an adequate tempera ­
tu re , with the exception of the defrost set­
t ing.
When accelerating at wide-open throttle, the
air condit ioning compressor is temporar ily
switched off to maintain full engine power.
In order to ensure engine cooling under ex­
treme engine loads, the compressor is switch­
ed off if coolant temperatures cl imb too high .
Funct ions are set by turn ing the rotary knob
or switched o n and off by tapp ing the buttons.

Pollutant filt er
The pollutant filter (particle filter) ensures
that contaminants in the outside air (such as
d ust or pollen) are greatly reduced or stop­
ped. The air is also filtered in recircu lation
mode.
The po llutant filter element must be changed
according to the intervals specified in the
maintenance schedule so that the air condi­
tioning system's performance is not adversely
affected .
If the filter's effectiveness is weakened by
driving the vehicle in areas with heavily pollut­
ed outside air, the filter element should also
be changed in between the listed services.
A WARNING
For safety reasons, it is important that all
w indows are free of ice, snow, and conden­
sation. Only then is good visib ility ensured.

-If you suspect that the clima te controls
have been damaged, swi tch the system off to avoid damaging it, and have it in­
spected by an authorized Audi dea

- Audi climate control system repairs re­
quire special expertise and the proper
tools . You should contact an authorized
Audi dealer in the event of malfunctions.
(D Tips
- To avoid adversely affecting heating and
cooling performance and to prevent con­
densation on the windows, the air intake
in front of the windshield must be free of
ice, snow, and leaves.
- The a ir coming from the vents and circu­
lat ing through the entire interior is ex­
tracted through the out let slots in the
side pane ls in the luggage compartment .
Make sure that the outlet slots are not
covered by clothing, etc.
- Climate contro l works most effectively if
the windows are closed. However, if the
inter io r of a par ked veh icle is ext reme ly
hot from the sun's rays, briefly opening
the windows can speed up the cooling process .
Setting temperature
.,. Turn the rotary knob (D ¢ page 67, fig. 78
to the desired temperature setting.
T o set a lower temperature, turn the rotary
knob to the left. To set a higher temperature,
turn the rotary knob to the r ight. There are
additional intermediate settings available to
adjust the temperature as needed.

• Turn the knob@¢ page 67, fig. 78 to the
setting you want to adjust fan speed (a ir
quantity).
I n automat ic mode the cl imate control sys­
tem automatically regulates fan speed de­
pending on interior temperature. Yo u can ad­
just the volume of air produced by the fan to
meet your own requirements.

• To open a nd close the out lets, turn the ad­
justing ring .
• To ad just the direct io n of the airflow from
the outlet, move the tab in the center of the
outlet in the desired d irection. The direction
of the air de livered from the vents can be
adjusted horizontally and vertically.
A ir distribution :
- In sett ing
-0, air flows only to the w indows,
vents (!) and @are open . To defrost the
driver and front passenger side windows
most effectively, the vents @should be di ­
rected toward the side w indows.
- In sett ing®, a ir flows on ly to the dr iver/
passenger, vents ® and @ are open.
- In sett ing
-Or, air flows only to the footwell,
vents ® are open.

@ Tips
If the difference between the desired tem­
perature set by you and the veh icle's interi­
or temperature is too great, the fan speed
will change automat ically. This is done so
that the des ired temperature setting is
reached as q uickly as possib le.
- I n setting~. air flows only to the windows
and the footwell, vents (!) , @ and ® are
open.
T he re are addit ional comb inat ions (thro ugh
i ntermediate settings) available to adjust a ir
dist ribution as needed.
{t) Tips
If the climate controls are running in cool­
i ng mode, air should flow mainly from
vents @and @. To achieve sufficien t cool­
i ng, you sho uld never close these ven ts
complete ly .

Defrost~
The windshield and side windows ore defrost­
ed or cleared of condensation as quickly as
possible .
• To turn on the defogger/defroster, press the
~ button <=> page 67, fig . 78 .
• To turn the defogger/defroster off, press the
~ button again, o r the IAUTOI button.
Temperature is controlled automatically . The
maximum amount of a ir flows mainly from
vents 1 <=>
page 69.
A small amount of air flows from vents 2 - if
they are open <=>
page 69.
Press ing the ~ button switches off recircu la­
tion mode.
Automatic operation ~
Standard operating mode at all times of the
year.
Turning on automatic operation
• Set the temperature you want.
• Press the
!AUTO ! button <=> page 67, fig. 78.
Automatic operation ensures constant tem­
perat ures in the inter ior and dehum idifies the
ai r inside the vehicle . Air temperature, vol­
ume, and distribution are controlled automat­
ica lly to reach or maintain the desired interior
temperature as quickly as possib le. Fluctua­
tions in exterior temperature and the effects
of temperature from the position of the sun
are compensated for automat ically .
Manual air recirculation mode~
The recirculation mode prevents polluted out­
side air from entering the vehicle interior.
Switching on air recir culation
• Press the button I;]<=> page 67, fig. 78
<=>A .
Switching off air recirculation
• Press the button ~ again, or
• Press the
!AU TO ! button, or •
Press the~ button .
In recircu lation mode, air is drawn from the
vehicle interior, filtered, and recirculated. We
recommend that you se lect recirculation
mode
briefly <=>.&. under the fo llowing condi­
tions:
When driving through a tunnel or in a traff ic
jam so that exhaust fumes and odors cannot
enter the vehicle interior.
A WARNING
You shou ld not use the recirculation mode
for an extended period since no fresh air is
drawn in, and with the air condit ioning
switched off the windows can fog up - this
i ncreases the r isk of an accident!
A/C operation ~
Switching on A/C
• Press the IA/Cl button <=> page 67 , fig . 78 .
Switching A/C off
• Press the IA/Cl button again.
T he air is not coo led and humidity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is switched off.
This can cause fog on the windows. Cooling mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is be low zero .
(D Tips
If the LED in the switch stays on after A/C
operation has been switched off(= switch­
ing the A/C off), there is a fault in an air
cond itioning component. Please consult
an authorized Audi dealer when there is an
operating problem .
Rear window defogger~
The rear window defogger clears the rear win­
dow of condensation.
• Press the QW button <=> page 67, fig. 78 to
turn the rear window defogger on and off.
