The AdBlue fi ller tube is located near the die­
sel filler tube . A lways add 1 gallon (3 .8 liters)
of AdBlue (two bottles). This is the m inimum
amount requ ired to ensure the system detects
the ref illing a nd to start the engine . The Ad Bl­
ue tank capac ity is approximate ly 6 ga llons
(2 3 liters) .
Opening the filler tube and adding
AdBlue
Requirement : The requ est to add Ad B lue must
appear in the ins trumen t cl uste r display.
• Switch the ign ition off .

• Turn the cap counte rclockw ise wit h the lug
wrenc h fro m the veh icle tool kit to remove it

• Remove the cap from the refill bottle.
• Pos ition the refill bott le on the filler tube
and tu rn the bottle clockwise until it stops
turning

• Press ligh tly against the bottom of t he bot ­
tle @to empty it. Continue pressing the
bottom of the bottle unt il it is empty or un ­
til f lu id stops flow ing into the tank.
• Turn the bottle to t he left w ithout pressing
on the bottom .
Closing the filler tube
• Turn the cap clockwise on the filler tu be
w ith the l ug wrench until you hear it t ighten
completely .
• Close the tank cover.
After filling
The vehicle must be driven . The system may
take up to two minutes to detect that the
AdB lue has been f illed.
• If the re was no Ad Blue left in the tank and a
range of
O mi (0 km ) was displayed in the
instrument cluster, switch the ig nition on
for about 15 seconds before start ing the en­
gine.
A WARNING >=
Ad B lue can irritate the s kin, eyes and res-
p ira to ry system . If there is contac t wit h
the fluid, flush immediat ely with plenty of
w at er. Co nsult a phys icia n if necessa ry.

- Only use Ad B lue that conforms to the
standard ISO 22241-1. Do not mix any
add itives w ith th e AdBl ue and do no t di­
l ut e it with water.
- Do not add Ad Bl ue to the d iese l tank or
ad d diese l fue l to t he Ad B lue tank . M ix­
ing can lead to d amage to t he e ngine
a nd the AdBl ue ta nk system. The Lim ite d

Remove t he f lu id as quickly as possible
w ith a damp clot h and p lenty o f cold wa­
ter. If the AdB lue has already crystal-

ter and coolant additive. Mixing the coolant
addit ive with distilled water is recommended .

-Before winter sets in, have the coolant
checked to see if the coolant additive in
your vehicle is suffic ient to meet the cli ­
mate cond itions . Th is is especially impor­
tant if you live in a region where the w in­
te r is extremely cold. If necessary, in­
crease the proport ion of coolant additive
to 60% .
- When adding coolan t addi tive to you r
cooling system , remember:
- We recommend using only coolant ad­ ditive G12 ++ or G13 for your vehicle.
This coo lant additive is available at au­
thorized Aud i dealers . Other types of
antifreeze can significantly reduce cor­
rosion protection . Th e resu lting co rro­
sion c an cause a loss of coo la nt and se­
r ious engine damage.
- Do not add a ny type of radiator leak sea l­
ant to your veh icle's engine coo lant.
Adding rad iator repair fluid may adverse ­
l y affect the function and performance of
your cooling system and could result in damage not covered by your New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

The engine coolant level can be checked with
a quick glance .

To obtain an accu rate reading, the engine
must be switched off.
The expansion ta nk in your vehicle i s equ ipped
with an electric coolant level sensor .
When the coolant leve l is too low, the warning
light i n the Auto-Check System¢
page 32 will
blink unti l you add coolant and the level has
been restored to normal. Even though there is
an electric coo lant level senso r, we still rec­
ommend you check the coolant level from
t ime to t ime .

264 Check ing and filling
Coolant lo ss
Coolant loss may indicate a l ea k in t he cooling
system. In the event of coolant loss, the cool ­
ing system should be inspected immediately
by your authorized Audi dealer. It is not
enough merely to add coolant.
I n a
se ale d system, losses can occur only if
the boiling point of the coolant is exceeded as
a result of overheating.
A WARNING
The cooling system is under pressure and
can get very hot. Reduce the risk of scald­
ing from hot coolant by following these
steps.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool
down.
- Protect your face, hands and arms from
escaping fluid and steam by covering the
cap with a large, thick rag .
- Turn the cap slowly and very carefully in
a counter-clockwise direction wh ile ap­
plying light, downward pressure on the
top of the cap .
- To avoid being burned, do not spill ant i­
freeze or coolant on the exhaust system
or hot eng ine parts. Under certain condi­
t io ns, the ethy lene g lycol in engine cool­
an t ca n ca tch f ire.
0 Note
Do not add any type of radiator leak seal­
ant to your vehicle's eng ine coolant. Add­
ing radiato r repair fluid may adve rsely af­
fect the function and performance of your
cooling system and could res ult in damage

Adding coolant
Be very careful when adding engine coolant.

We recommend using only coo lant add it ive
G12 ++, G13 or in an emergency G12 +. Do
not
use a different add itive. In an emergency use
plain water until you can get the correct addi­
t ive and can restore the correct ratio . This
shou ld be done as soon as poss ib le.
If you have lost a considerab le amount of
coolant, the n you should add cold ant ifreeze
and co ld water on ly when the eng ine is cold .
Always use
new engine coolant when refilling.
Do not fi ll coo lant above the "MAX" mark. Ex­
cess coolant will be forced o ut through the
pressure relief valve in the cap when the en­
gine becomes hot.

will damage the bumper system. The
jack may slip, causing i njury.
- Never support your vehicle on cinder bloc ks, b ricks or other objects. Th ese
may not be able to support the load and
cou ld cause injury when they fail.
- Never start or run t he engine while the
vehicle is suppor ted by the jack.
- If you must wo rk under the vehicle, al­
ways use safety stand s spe cifically de­
signed for this purpose.
- Always make sure the inflatable spare
tir e a nd even a f lat t ire are se cured in
place and not loose, ot herwise they
cou ld fly forward, causing personal inj ury
to passengers in the veh icle in an acc i­
dent or sudden mane uver.

(j) Tips
If a wheel bolt is very tight, you may find it
easie r to loosen by carefully pushing down
on the end of the wheel bolt wrench with
one foot only. As you do so, hold on to the
car to keep yo ur balance and take care not
to slip.
Raising the vehicle

before the wheel can be removed .

& WARNING
-You or your passengers could be injured
while changing a wheel if you do not
follow these safety precautions:
- Position the jack only at the designated
lifting points and align the jack. Other­
wise, the jack could slip and cause an injury if it does not have sufficient hold
on the vehicle.
- A soft or unstable surface under the
jack may cause the vehicle to slip off the jack. Always provide a firm base for
the jack on the ground . If necessary,
use a sturdy board under the jack.
- On hard, slippery surface (such as tiles)
use a rubber mat or similar to prevent
the jack from slipping.
- To help prevent injury to yourself and
your passengers:
- Do not raise the vehicle until you are
sure the jack is securely engaged.
- Passengers must not remain in the ve­
hicle when it is jacked up.
- Make sure that passengers wait in a
safe place away from the vehicle and
well away from the road and traffic.
- Make sure jack position is correct, ad­
just as necessary and then continue to
raise the jack.
(D Note
Do not lift the vehicle by the sill. Position
the jack only at the designated lifting
points on the sill. Otherwise , your vehicle
will be damaged.
Taking the wheel off /installing the
inflatable spare tire
Follow these instructions step-by-step for
changing the wheel

After you have loosened all wheel bolts and raised the vehicle off the ground, remove and
replace the wheel as follows:
