CAUTION
Driving to spread the liquid sealant evenly
Drive the vehicle carefully at a low speed. Be especially careful when
turning and cornering.
If the vehicle does not drive straight or you feel a pull through the steering
wheel, stop the vehicle and check the following:
• Tire condition. The tire may have separated from the wheel.
• Tire inflation pressure. If tire inflation pressure is 130 kPa (1.3 kgf/cm
2
or bar, 19 psi) or less, the tire may be severely damaged.
NOTICE
When performing an emergency repair
Perform the emergency repair without removing the nail or screw that has
punctured the tread of the tire. If the object that has punctured the tire is
removed, repair by the emergency tire puncture repair kit may not be pos-
sible.
The repair kit is not waterproof. Make sure that the repair kit is not
exposed to water, such as when it is being used in the rain.
Do not put the repair kit directly onto dusty ground such as sand at the
side of the road. If the repair kit vacuums up dust etc., a malfunction may
occur.

NOTICE
Handling the emergency tire puncture repair kit
The repair kit power source should be 12 V DC suitable for vehicle use.
Do not connect the repair kit to any other source.
If gasoline splatters on the repair kit, the repair kit may deteriorate. Take
care not to allow gasoline to contact it.
Store the emergency tire puncture repair kit in the trunk.
The kit may be thrown around during sudden braking and so forth, dam-
aging the kit.
Store the repair kit in the trunk out of reach of children.
Do not disassemble or modify the repair kit. Do not subject parts such as
the air pressure indicator to impacts. This may cause a malfunction.
To avoid damage to the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters (vehi-
cles with the tire pressure warning system)
When a tire is repaired with liquid sealants, the tire pressure warning valve
and transmitter may not operate properly. If a liquid sealant is used, contact
any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional or other qualified service shop as soon as possible.
Make sure to replace the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter when
replacing the tire. (P. 756)

If the hybrid system will not start
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
The electronic key may not be functioning properly. (P. 911)
There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
There may be a malfunction in the immobilizer system. (P. 91)
There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.
The hybrid system may be malfunctioning due to an electrical
problem such as electronic key battery depletion or a blown fuse.
However, depending on the type of malfunction, an interim mea-
sure is available to start the hybrid system. (P. 905)
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
The 12-volt battery may be discharged. (P. 913)
The 12-volt battery terminal connections may be loose or cor-
roded.
Reasons for the hybrid system not starting vary depending on the
situation. Check the following and perform the appropriate proce-
dure:
The hybrid system will not start even though the correct start-
ing procedure is being followed. (P. 246)
The interior lights and headlights are dim, or the horn does not
sound or sounds at a low volume.

One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
One or both of the 12-volt battery terminals may be discon-
nected.
The 12-volt battery may be discharged. (P. 913)
Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional if the problem cannot be repaired, or if repair
procedures are unknown.
When the hybrid system does not start, the following steps can be
used as an interim measure to start the hybrid system if the power
switch is functioning normally:
Set the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the power switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the power switch for about 15 seconds while
depressing the brake pedal firmly.
Even if the hybrid system can be started using the above steps, the
system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by any
authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional.
The interior lights and headlights do not turn on, or the horn
does not sound.

If the shift lever cannot be shifted from P
Set the parking brake.
Turn the power switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Depress the brake pedal.
Pry the cover up with a flat-
head screwdriver or equivalent
tool.
To prevent damage to the cover,
cover the tip of the screwdriver
with a rag.
Press the shift lock override
button.
The shift lever can be shifted while
the button is pressed.
If the shift lever cannot be shifted with your foot on the brake
pedal, there may be a problem with the shift lock system (a system
to prevent accidental operation of the shift lever). Have the vehicle
inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional immediately.
The following steps may be used as an emergency measure to
ensure that the shift lever can be shifted:

If the parking brake cannot be released
Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the power switch off.
Check that the parking brake indicator is off.
Chock the tires.
In the event that the 12-volt battery is discharged or switch opera-
tion does not release the parking brake, the parking brake can be
released manually using the procedure below. This procedure
should be performed only if necessary, such as in an emergency.
If the switch cannot be operated even when the 12-volt battery is
normal, the parking brake system may be malfunctioning. Have the
vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional immediately.

Take out the parking brake
release tool and the screw-
driver from the trunk. (P.

Fit the parking brake release tool
into the screwdriver handle.
Vehicles with a spare tire: Take out the spare tire. (P. 875)
Vehicles without a spare tire: Remove the center auxiliary box.
(P. 888)
Remove the plug.
Insert the tool and press it
down firmly while turning it
counterclockwise until it
stops.

Manual operation of the parking brake
The parking brake cannot be set manually.
CAUTION
When releasing the parking brake manually
Shift the shift lever to P, turn the power switch off and chock the tires.
Failure to do so may cause the vehicle to move, resulting in an accident.
Turn the power switch off and check that the parking brake indicator is
off. Failure to do so may cause the system to operate and turn the inserted
parking brake release tool, resulting in an injury.
