Thefittingofracingtires(e.g.slicks)
forsportingeventsisnotapprovedby
Porsche.Veryhighcorneringspeeds
canbeachievedwithracingtires.
However,theresultingtransverse
accelerationvalueswouldjeopardize
theadequatesupplyofoiltotheengine.
Porschethereforewillnotaccept
anywarrantyoracceptanyliability
fordamageoccurringasaresultof
non-compliancewiththisprovision.
Regularlycheckyourvehiclefor
signsofdamage.Damagedor
missingaerodynamiccomponents
suchasspoilersorundersidepan-
elsaffectthedrivingbehaviorand
thereforemustbereplacedimmedi-
ately.

FuelQuality
Yourengineisdesignedtoprovideoptimumperformanceandfueleconomyusingunleadedpremiumfuelwithanoctaneratingof98RON(93CLCorAKI).Porschethereforerecommendstheuseofthesefuelsinyourvehicle.
Porschealsorecognizesthatthesefuelsmaynotalwaysbeavailable.Beassuredthatyourvehiclewilloperateproperlyonunleadedpremiumfuelswithoctanenumbersofatleast95RON(90CLCorAKI),sincetheengine’s“ElectronicOctane™knockcontrol”willadapttheignitiontiming,ifnecessary.
Fuelscontainingalcoholandether
SomeareasoftheU.S.requireoxygenatedfuelsduringcertainportionsoftheyear.Oxygenatedfuelsarefuelswhichcontainalcohols(suchasmethanoloretha-nol)orether(suchasMTBE).
Undernormalconditions,theamountofthesecompoundsinthefuelwillnotaffectdriveability.
YoumayuseoxygenatedfuelsinyourPorsche,providedtheoctanerequirementsforyourvehiclearemet.Werecommend,however,thatyouchangetoadiffer-entfuelorstationifanyofthefollowingproblemsoccurwithyourvehicle:
–Deteriorationofdriveabilityandperformance.
–Substantiallyreducedfueleconomy.
–Vaporlockandnon-startproblems,especiallyathighaltitudeorathightemperature.
–Enginemalfunctionorstalling.
FuelscontainingMMT
SomeNorthAmericanfuelscontainanoctaneenhancingadditivecalledmethylcyclopentadienylmanganesetricarbonyl(MMT).Ifsuchfuelsareused,youremis-sioncontrolsystemperformancemaybenegativelyaffected.Thecheckenginewarninglightsonyourinstrumentpanelmayturnon.Ifthisoccurs,PorscherecommendsyoustopusingfuelscontainingMMT.

Engineexhaust,someofitsconstituents,andcertainvehiclecomponentscontainoremitchemicalsknowntotheStateofCaliforniatocausecancerandbirthdefectsorotherreproductiveharm.Inaddition,certainfluidscontainedinvehiclesandcertainproductsofcomponentwearcontainoremitchemicalsknowntotheStateofCaliforniatocausecancerandbirthdefectsorotherreproductiveharm.
Production
Whetherinproductionorrepair,Porschealwaysreliesonenvironmentallyfriendlytechnology.Anexampleofthisisthewater-basedpaintusedinourpaintinginstallations.Water-basepaintsandnewpaintingmethodsreducesolventemissionsby70percent.Thewaterusedinthepaintinginstallationisrecirculated.WastewaterleavesthePorschefactoryonlyafterbeingappropriatelytreated.
Awaste-managementsystemhasbeenintroducedtoreducetheamountofwastewhilesimultaneous-lyincreasingtherecyclingrate.
Environmentallyfriendlyvehicles
Modernenvironmentaltechnologyensurescompliancewithallemissionlawsapplicableworldwide.
Ithasthefollowingadvantages:
–Rapidoperationalreadinessofthecatalyticconvertersensureslowemissions,eveninshort-tripoperation.
