Vehicles with a Duratecengine
The fuel supply may be cut off as aresult of an accident or suddenvibrations (e.g. collision whenparking).
The switch is located in the side panelin front of the left-hand door. Thebutton will be raised when the switchis activated.
Resetting the switch
WARNING
Do not reset the fuel cut-offswitch if you see or smell leakingfuel.
•Turn the ignition switch to position0.
•Check fuel system for leaks.
•If no fuel leak is apparent, resetthe switch by pushing in thebutton (see illustration).
•Turn the ignition switch to positionII. After a few seconds return thekey to position I.
•Make a further check for leaks inthe fuel system.

Seat belts
Belts subjected to strain − as a resultof an accident − should be renewedand the anchorages checked by anexpert.

To check or replace a fuse, first pulloff the battery cover 1. Then removethe cover of the fuse box 2 byreleasing the catch and lifting up.
You will find the fuse chart inside thefuse box cover.

To reinstall the storage compartment,fit it into the opening and push untilyou feel it engage.
The fuse chart label located on theoutside of the removed storagecompartment will help you identifythe fuses.
Right-hand drive
The central fuse box is locatedbehind the glove compartment. Toremove the glove compartment,open it and push the lever at theback to the left. Press the sidesinwards and pull out the glovecompartment.
To reinstall the glove compartment,fit it into the opening and push thelever to the right until you feel itengage.
The fuse chart label located on theoutside of the removed glovecompartment will help you identifythe fuses.
CHANGING A FUSE
WARNING
Switch off the ignition and all theelectrical equipment beforechanging a fuse.
Always replace a faulty fuse with anew one of the same rating.

The screw-in towing eye is storedwith the jack in the luggagecompartment. The towing eye mustalways be carried in the vehicle.
WARNING
The towing eye has a left-handthread. Install it by turninganticlockwise. Tighten by hand.
Prise off the cover in the bumper witha flat-bladed screwdriver and installthe towing eye.

To use the rear towing eye on4/5-door ST models, remove thecentre rear grille. Insert a screwdriver,or suitable equivalent, into the grilleand pull it off. Replace the grille whenthe rear towing eye is not in use.

Vehicles with an automatictransmission
WARNING
Never tow a vehicle with anautomatic transmission fasterthan 50 km/h (30 mph) or furtherthan 50 kilometres (30 miles).
If it is necessary to tow the vehicle agreater distance, the drive wheelsmust be lifted clear off the ground.
