1. Non±plausible high frequent signal, high wheel accelera-
tion or high gradient for 20 sec. with the brake pedal
applied or for 5 sec. when the brake pedal is not applied.
2. After the initial start or restart and when the vehicle
speed has reached 12 km/h (7 mph), the wheel speed of

control sensor and the
skid control ECU (See page 01±32).

4INSPECT SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR SERRATIONS
(REFERENCE) INSPECTION USING OSCILLOSCOPE
(a)Connect the oscilloscope to the terminals RR+ ± RR± and RL+ ± RL± of the skid control ECU.
(b)Drive the vehicle at about 30 km/h (19 mph), and check the signal waveform.
HINT:
As the vehicle speed (wheel revolution speed) increases,
a cycle of the waveform becomes shorter and the fluctua-
tion in the output voltage becomes greater.
When noise is identified in the waveform on the oscillo-
scope, error signals are generated due to the speed sen-
sor rotor's scratches, looseness or foreign matter depos-
ited on it.

DTC C0200/31 RIGHT FRONT SPEED SENSOR
DTC C0205/32 LEFT FRONT SPEED SENSOR
DTC C1330/35 RIGHT FRONT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
DTC C1331/36 LEFT FRONT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The speed sensor detects wheel speed and transmits the ap-
propriate signals to the ECU. These signals are used for control
of the ABS control system. Each of the front and rear rotors has
48 serrations.
When the rotors rotate, the magnetic field generated by the per-
manent magnet in the speed sensor induces an AC voltage.
Since the frequency of this AC voltage changes in direct propor-
tion to the speed of the rotor, the frequency is used by the ECU
to detect the speed of each wheel.

PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
If a normal code is displayed during the DTC check but the problem still o\
ccurs, check the circuits for each
problem symptom in the order given in the table below and proceed to the releva\
nt troubleshooting page.
NOTICE:
When replacing Skid Control ECU, sensor or etc., turn the ignition switc\
h to OFF.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
HINT:
Using SST 09843±18040, connect the terminal Tc and CG of the DLC3.
If malfunction is not found when inspecting parts, inspect the ECU and grou\
nd points for poor contact.
If a malfunction code is displayed during the DTC check, check the circuit\
listed for that code. For de-
tails of each code, refer to the ºSee pageº for respective ºDTC No.º\
in the DTC chart.
When 2 or more DTCs are detected, perform circuit inspection one by one unti\
l the problem is identi-
fied.

(a ) Release the parking brake leve r.
(b ) Check the warning lights.
Whe n the ignition switch is turned ON, check that the ABS
warnin g light and brake warning light come on for 3 sec.
HIN T:
Whe n the parking brake is applied or the level of the brake
flui d is lo w, the brake warning light comes on.
If the indicator check result is not normal, proceed to trou-
bleshootin g for the ABS warning light circuit ( See page
05±73 7 or 05±741 ) or brake warning light circuit ( See
pag e 05±744 ).
(c ) Without using hand±held tester:
Check the DTC.
(1 ) Usin g S S T, c onne ct te rmi na l T c a n d C G o f the
DLC3.
SS T 09843±18040
(2 ) Tur n the ignition switch ON.
(3 ) Rea d the DTC from the ABS warning light on the
combinatio n mete r.
HIN T:
If no code appears, inspect the diagnostic circuit or ABS
warning light circuit ( See page 05±737 or 05±744 ).
As an example, the blinking patterns for normal code and
code s 1 1 and 21 are shown on the left.
(4 ) Codes are explained in the code table on page
05±704.
If 2 or more DTCs are detected at the same time, the lowest
numbered DTC is displayed 1st. (5) After completing the check, remove the SST fromthe DLC3.
SST 09843±18040
(d) With using hand±held tester: Check the DTC.
(1) Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tes-ter screen.
HINT:
Please refer to the hand±held tester operator's manual for fur-
ther details.
(e) Without using hand±held tester: Clear the DTCs.
(1) Using SST, connect the terminal Tc and CG of theDLC3.
SST 09843±18040
(2) Turn the ignition switch ON.
