INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK SETTING(THE VOLUME OF THE NAVIGATION VOICE SOUND)
(a) Check the settings.
(1) Set the volume MAX at the voice sound settings on the menu.
Standard: ºThis system will guide you in this volumeº is produced.

2 CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(NAVIGATION ECU ± RADIO RECEIVER
ASSY)
(a) Disconnect the connector between the navigation ECU
and radio receiver assy.
(1) Check continuity between the terminals at each
condition, as shown in the chart.

11. RESET MEMORY
CAUTION:
Perform the RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) when replacing the automatic transaxle assy, engine
assy or ECM.
NOTICE:
Hand±held tester only
(a) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(b) Connect the hand±held tester to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) Perform the reset memory procedure from the ENGINE menu.
CAUTION:
After performing the RESET MEMORY, be sure to perform the ROAD TEST described earlier.

6 CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT REOCCURS
(a) Connect the hand −held tester to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the hand −held tester ON.
(c) Erease DTC, enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CLEAR
CODE; and press YES.
(d) Drive the vehicle more than 25 mph (40 km/h) for 20 seconds or more.
(e) Check DTC reoccur. Result:

2 READ VALUE OF HAND −HELD TESTER(OUTPUT VOLTAGE OF HEATED OXYGEN
SENSOR)
(a) Connect the hand −held tester to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the hand −held tester ON.
(c) Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature above 75 _C( 169 _F).
(d) Read the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor (sensor 1) when the engine rpm is suddenly in-
creased.
HINT:
Quickly accelerate the engine to 4,000 rpm 3 times using the accelerator pedal.
Standard:
Heated oxygen sensor (sensor 1) outputs a RICH signal (0.45 V or more) at least once.

3 PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN (See page 05 −82)
HINT:
Clear all DTCs prior to performing the confirmation driving pattern.

HINT:
Using the hand−held tester DATA LIST allows switch, sensor, actuator and other item values to be read with-
out removing any parts. Reading DATA LIST early in troubleshooting is one way to shorten labor time.
NOTICE:
In the table below, the values listed under ”Normal Condition” are reference values. Do not depend
solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

2. ACTIVE TEST
HINT:
Performing ACTIVE TEST using the hand−held tester allows the relay, VSV, actuator and so on to operate
without parts removal. Performing ACTIVE TEST as a first step of troubleshooting is one of the methods to
shorten diagnostic time.
It is possible to display DATA LIST during ACTIVE TEST.
(a) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(b) Connect the hand−held tester to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) Turn the hand−held tester ON.
(e) Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / ACTIVE TEST.
(f) According to the display on the tester, perform ACTIVE TEST.

(e) Press the ”ENTER” button on the hand−held tester.

(g) Select ”SET COMP VALUE” and press the ”ENTER” but-
ton.
(h) Press the ”ENTER” button.
(i) Select a cylinder number which you want to register the
compensation code.
(j) Press the ”ENTER” button.

(q) Press the ”NO” button to complete the registration.
HINT:
SIf you want to register other compensation codes for the
other cylinders, press the ”YES” button instead of ”NO”.
SBy pressing the ”NO” button, the hand−held tester returns
to the ”DIAGNOSTIC MENU ECD” screen.
(r) Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for 30 seconds
or more.
