ALP3. THE ANTI STARTING INDICATOR REMAINS PERMANENTLY LIGHTED
(even when the contact is taken off) OR IT REMAINS PERMANENTLY SWITCHE D OFF.
RECOMMENDATIONCheck if the “Procedure E.C.U. decoder replacement” was correctly
performed.
Check the fuse F15 ( up to 01.06.2001) or
F07 (after 01.06.2001).
Is the fuse good?
Is there the failure “ DOORS’ LOCKING
CONTACT”?
Check the continuity and the isolation related
to the ground, between t he pin A 5 of the
E.C.U. decoder and the dashboard.
Is the wiring good?
Replace the fuse.
Analyse this failure and replace.
Fix the wiring.
Perform the following tests in order to find the
failure element:
- if the anti starting indicator is permanently
lighted, disconnect the connector of the E.C.U.
decoder and check if the indicator switches off;
- if the anti starting system is turned off,
c onnect the pin A5 of the wiring connector from
the E.C.U. decoder to an electric ground and
check if the indicator turns on.
Are the answers affirmatives?
Replace the instrument panel.
Replace the E .C.U. decoder.
Perform a conformity checking.

GENERALITIES
DESCRIPTION
The a nti intrusion system has t he purpose of peripheral prot ection of the ve hicle a nd the
volumetric protecti on of the passengers compartment (cockpit) and has the following components:
The ECU anti intrusion (1) is located under the central console, being attached under the
climate control unit and receives information from the volumetric sensors and from the contacts
of: front doors, engine hood and tail hatchback.
In case of an intrusion into the vehicle, when the system is activated, ECU will start t he siren
combined with intermittent lightening of the turning lamps.
The volumetric sensors (2) are fixed on the upholstery of the left and right upper part of the
pillars. After the activation of the anti intrusion system with the remote control, the sensors c an
supply information to the ECU concerning the interior volume of the cockpit, which, in case of its
modification will produce the siren starting and the intermittent lightening of the turning lamps.
The siren (3) is fixed on a frame, being located in the climate control unit and it is controlled by
the ECU anti intrusion.
The intrusion LED indicator (4) is located on the dashboard, on the left side and it indicates if
the system is activated or not and in case of an aggression on the vehicle, the indicator will show
the type of aggression.
The contacts of the front and rear doors (5), of the e ngine hood (6) a nd of the hatchback (7)
are supplying information concerning their opening, to the ECU anti intrusion, when the system is
activated.

THE PIN CODE
The PIN code is formed of four figures and it can be used only for deactivating the anti intrusion
s ystem, if this operation can not be performed by pushing the deactivating button from the RF
remote control of the vehicle. For introducing the PIN code, perform as follows:-set on the contact key in the M position and take it off it for three times in seven seconds,
after which the anti intrusion LED indicator will switch on for three seconds; -set on the contact again on the M position and maintain it until the number of the L ED
blinks is e qual with the first figure of the PIN code, then take off the contact; -set on the contact in the M position and maintain it until the number of LED blinks is equal
w ith the second figure of the PIN code, then take off the contact;
-perform the above mentioned method in order to introduce the third and the fourth figure
of the PIN code;
-after that, the system is deactivated and the siren stops automatically;
- set on the contact again – the anti LED indicator must switch on, confirming in this way
that the c orrect introduction of the PIN code.
AT TENT ION
If it i s necessary the checking of the PIN code, t his will be pe rformed
only after al least 20 seconds have passed, since the anti intrusion ECU has been
connected to the vehicle’s wiring or since the connecting of t he vehicle’s battery.
The COBRA anti intrusion system can operate in t hree different modes (2,3 or 4).
For the Super Nova vehicles, the system has been programmed to work in the second operation
mode. If by mistake the PIN code was introduced in less than 20 seconds since the battery
connecting or since connecting the anti intrusion ECU, this can involve the change of the operation
way of the system, which will generate errors during the operation. There is, although, the possibility
of reprogramming the correct operation way (type 2) and in this purpose, perform the following
operations : - disconnect and then reconnect the anti intrusion ECU; when connecting the anti intrusion
ECU the anti intrusion LED indicator will switch on once, confirming the correct connecting;
-af ter at least 5 seconds from the previous operation, but no more than 20 second from it,
perform the following operation s:
-s et on the contact key in the M position for three times and then release it;
- the anti intrusion LED indicator will switch on for three seconds and then will switch off;
- set on again the contact key in the “M” position and maintain it, counting two blinks of the
anti intrusion LED indicator, then take off the contact;
- the LED indicator will blink for two times in two series, confirming in this way the proper
performance of the previous operations;
press the doors locking button of the dashboard, in order to lock and unlock the doors; the anti
intrusion LED indicator must not blink;

- the connector of the air temperature sensor (pos.14) and of the injectors (pos.14) – push the
locker (A) in the (B) arrow direction then the connector disconnecting may be achieved. The reconnecting of the a.m. connectors sha ll be performed after their correct positioning, followed
by their pushing till a “click” is he ard, that will confirm the firm and correct performing of the connecting.
The connecto r of the oxygen sensor, the coupling connections of the rear wiring to the vehicle
doors wiring, the connections between the doors actuators and the doors wiring are attached to the
car riage body by means of clamps (pos.15). To unlock the clamps maintaining these connectors on the
carriage body, disconnect these connectors, easy push the clamp terminal (I) in the (A) arrow direction
a nd move the connector in the (B) arrow direction, parallel cu the attachment surface on the clamp.
The a ttachment of the connector on the clamp is achieved, proceeding in the reverse order, then
the disconnecting may be performed.
The co nnections between front wiring, das hboard, rear and engine are attached by sliding in the
supports. Next, the disconnecting/reconnecting procedure of the front wiring-dashboard (pos.16) is
presented, which are attached on a support placed under the dashboard, left side:
-r em ove the connection form the support (A), by pulling it in the (B) arrow direction.
-push the (C)- locking spur, then the connections disconnecting may be achieved.
