BENDING LAMP OPERATION
Bending lamp right/left turn ON depending on the steering wheel angle and the vehicle speed under the oper-
ating condition. Bending lamp right/left turn OFF when the steering wheel is returned to the straight.

Notes on Steering Angle Sensor (Neutral Point) Adjustment
Be sure to adjust steering angle sensor to the neutral point before driving if any of the followings is
removed/installed or replaced: AFS control unit; Steering angle sensor; Steering system part, Suspension
system part.
Steering angle sensor neutral point adjustment should be performed by using CONSULT-II. (The adjust-
ment is not operative without CONSULT-II.)
Operation Procedure (with VDC)
Perform steering angle sensor neutral point adjustment only on VDC side. Never perform the adjustment on
ADAPTIVE LIGHT side as this may lead to VDC malfunctions. If the adjustment has been performed on AFS
side, readjust on VDC side. For steering angle sensor neutral point adjustment procedures on VDC side, refer
to BRC-40, "
Adjustment of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position" in “ON-VEHICLE SERVICE”.

When “ [B2520] ST ANGLE SEN CALIB” is displayed
If the steering is turned during the adjustment, perform the
adjustment again.
If any condition other than above exists, check the connection
conditions between steering angle sensor, AFS control unit,
CONSULT-II and harnesses, and then perform the adjustment
again. After the adjustment is completed, replace AFS control
unit if [B2520] is not erased from self-diagnostic results.
CAUTION:
If [U1000] CAN COMM CIRCUIT or [B2515] ST ANG SEN SIG is displayed, first refer to LT- 8 4 ,
"SELF-DIAG RESULTS" of self-diagnostic results, and then perform the diagnosis.
9. Turn ignition switch OFF, and then turn ON again.
CAUTION:
Never skip this step.
10. Drive the vehicle to the straight-ahead position, and then stop it.
11. Select “ST ANG SEN SIG” on “SELECTION FROM MENU” screen of “DATA MONITOR” of CONSULT-II.
Make sure that “ST ANG SEN SIG” is within 0 ± 2.5°. If it is other than 0 ± 2.5°, perform steps 1 to 10

CAUTION:
If plural DTCs (including [U1000] CAN COMM CIRCUIT) are displayed, start the diagnosis from
CAN communication circuit.
If NO DTC is displayed at self-diagnosis after any parts other than AFS control unit are replaced,
erase the error history.
Timing Display Has 2 Displays: the Trip Number Counter Display and the CURRENT/PAST Display.
Trip number counter display (U1000, U1010)
“0”: Displays DTC detected when there is malfunction now or trip 0.
“1” - “39”: Displays when it is normal now and finds malfunction in the past. It increases like “0”→
“1” → “2” ··· “38” → “39” after returning to the normal condition whenever IGN OFF → ON. If it is
over “39”, it is fixed to “39”until the self-diagnostic results are erased. It returns to “0” when mal-
function is detected again in the process.
CURRENT/PAST display (B2515, B2516, B2517, B2520, and B2521)
CURRENT: Displays DTC detected when there is malfunction now or trip 0.
PAST: Displays DTC when it is normal now and finds malfunction in the past. It is fixed to PAST
until the self-diagnostic results are erased. It returns to CURRENT when malfunction is detected
again in the process. (In B2520 ST ANGLE SEN CALIB, automatically erases the results after the
steering angle sensor adjustment is completed normally. It is not erased even if “ERASE” is per-
formed.)
