1.CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
HINT:
A momentary interruption (open circuit) in the connectors and/or wire harness between the sensors and ECUs
can be detected in the ECU data monitor function of the hand-held tester.
a. Turn the ignition switch off and connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
b. Turn the ignition switch on. Follow the on-screen directions on the hand-held tester to display the DATA
LIST and select areas where momentary interruption should be monitored.
HINT:
A momentary interruption (open circuit) cannot be detected for 3 seconds after the ignition switch is
turned on (initial check).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Operate the hand-held tester to erase the codes.
HINT:
Refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
Check if "VSC" is displayed on the multi-information display.
3.PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION OF YAW RATE SENSOR AND DECELERATION
SENSOR
a. Check that the steering wheel is in the straight-ahead position and move the shift lever to the P
position.
b. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
c. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
d. Operate the hand-held tester to test mode.
e. Obtain the zero point of the yaw rate sensor and deceleration sensor:
1. Keep the vehicle in the stationar
y condition on a level surface for 2 seconds or more.

2. Check that the display changes to "VSC Test" on the multi-information display.
HINT:
"VSC" is displayed while obtaining the zero point. "VSC Test" is displayed when it is
completed.
The zero point calibration is performed only once after the system enters the test mode.
Calibration cannot be performed again until the stored data is cleared once.
f. Turn the ignition switch off.
1.WARNING LIGHT AND INDICATOR LIGHT CHECK
a. Release the parking brake pedal.

b. When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, check that the ABS warning light, TRAC
OFF indicator light, BRAKE warning light and SLIP indicator light come on for approximately 3
seconds.
HINT:
If the ECU was any stored DTCs, the ABS warning light, "VSC" is displayed on the multi-
information display and TRAC OFF indicator light come on.
If the indicator does not come on, inspect it the bulb is blown out, and also the wire harness
between the skid control ECU and the combination meter.

e. BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH CHECK
1. Keep depressing the brake pedal for one second or more with a brake pedal load of
approximately 59 N (6kgf) with the ignition switch in the ON position (engine is off).
2. Check if the brake warning lamp comes on and the ABS motor operating sound can be heard.
HINT:
If rechecking the brake pedal load sensing switch after the engine starts, exit the test mode
and enter the test mode to release the negative pressure in the booster by pumping the brake
pedal.
3. Start the engine and depress the brake pedal with a brake pedal load of approximately 59 N
(6 kgf) or more to check if the brake warning lamp goes off.
f. SPEED SENSOR CHECK
1. Check the ABS warnin
g lamp is blinking in TEST MODE.
