REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION
SYSTEM
HINT:
At the time of installation, refer to the following:
Evacuate air from the refrigeration system.
Charge the system with refrigerant and inspect for leak-
age of refrigerant.
Specified amount:
Single A/C: 750 ± 50 g (26.45 ± 1.76 oz.)
Dual A/C: 1050 ± 50 g (37.03 ± 1.76 oz.)
2. REMOVE CONDENSER FAN (See page AC±98)
3. REMOVE A/T OIL COOLER
4. REMOVE HORN
5. REMOVE HOOD LOCK
6. REMOVE CENTER BRACE
7. REMOVE RECEIVER AND HOLDER
(See page AC±63)
8. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE AND DISCHARGE HOSE
Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect both tube and hose.
Torque: 5.4 N´m (5.5 kgf´cm, 48 in´lbf)
NOTICE:
Cap the openings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out
of the system.
HINT:
At the time of installation, refer to the following:
Lubricate 2 new O±rings with compressor oil and install them
to the tubes.

To open the back window, push the
back window open switch of the trans-
mitter for about 1 second. The window
will fully open.
At this time, you can hear a beep.
If the ignition switch is in the ªONº posi-
tion, the back window cannot be opened
by the back window open switch.
To open the back window with the master
key, see ªPower back windowº on page 31
in this Section.
The back window opening program by
wireless remote control can be changed or
disabled. For details, contact your Toyota
dealer.Pushing the ªPANICº switch blows the
horn intermittently and flashes the
headlights and tail lights.
The ªPANICº switch is used to deter ve-
hicle theft when you witness anyone at-
tempting to break into or damage your
vehicle.
The alarm will last for one minute. To stop
alarm midway, push the ªPANICº or
ªUNLOCKº switch, or unlock any side door
or back door with key. You can also stop
the alarm by turning the ignition key from
ªLOCKº to the ªONº position.The ªPANICº mode does not work when
the ignition key is in the ªONº position.
This alarm function can be disabled. For
details, contact your Toyota dealer.

To open the hood:
1. Pull the hood lock release lever. The
hood will spring up slightly.
CAUTION
Before driving, be sure that the hood
is closed and securely locked. Other-
wise, the hood may open unexpected-
ly while driving and an accident may
occur.
2. In front of the vehicle, pull up the
auxiliary catch lever and lift the
hood.
Before closing the hood, check to see that
you have not forgotten any tools, rags,
etc. Then lower the hood make sure it
locks into place. If necessary, press down
gently on the front edge to lock it.To deter vehicle theft, the system is
designed to sound an alarm if any of
the side doors, back door or hood is
forcibly unlocked or opened or the bat-
tery terminal is disconnected and then
reconnected when the vehicle is locked.
On some models, the alarm also
sounds, when someone attempts to
break the side windows.
The alarm blows the horn intermittently
and flashes the headlights and tail lights.
